This used to be my go-to bakery for wonderfully flaky butter croissants, but something must have changed recently. The butter croissant I ate today was nothing special. I think the ones at Starbucks right now are better! I also got a salted caramel chocolate cupcake, and was disappointed in the frosting. You can remove it all in one shot, like a little top hat, because its consistency is that of a refrigerated stick of butter. Others might like this type of frosting, but it's not my cup of tea and it wasn't what I was expecting. The flavor of the cupcake, however, was great. Just be aware that if you're in the mood for soft, lickable frosting, you should go elsewhere. read more

I ordered the lemon raspberry cake. The raspberry concoction they layered in the middle was so wet and runny that it made the bottom half of the cake soggy. My fiancé and I have ordered a cake from them once prior; however, we often stop by just for their coffee, cookies, pastries, and macarons. We decided we wanted to taste their cakes for our wedding, and I was looking forward to ordering from a local bakery-one that's meaningful to us. After the tasting, I made several attempts to order a wedding cake and the woman never replied! We even went into the bakery and explained our difficulties with communication. We ordered a white cake with buttercream icing. We were told it was and had confetti on the outside. The cake was a 6 inch cake and it cost $42.00. The cake was pretty on the outside and presented well. However, the cake frosting was inedible. The cake itself was ok, somewhat moist. It was so disappointing. I left it out the recommended 30 min prior to serving. As I began to cut the cake, the frosting was so hard that it crumbled and would not cut it just caved in on the cake. I would never order a cake from them again. We wasted $42.00 plus tax and had to throw the whole thing out without eating it. read more

My favorite bakery in all of OC! LCB is owned by Jin and Liz, a young couple who are both super sweet and humble. Liz is the patissier and master behind all of the yummy treats they produce. The cafe is not only clean, spacious, but also super cute! I recently spent an entire day just working out of the cafe. My favorite items to get here are: - red velvet cake (Best I've ever had. Much better than SusieCakes and Sweet Lady Jane!) - chocolate ganache cake - pumpkin cheesecake - creme brûlée - pain au chocolat - any of their delicious teas! It's funny, I have seen this place so many times, but never bothered to check it out until someone pointed it out to me. Finally, I decided to check it out because I heard they sold macaroons here and I wanted to get some for my friend. I am actually not a big macaroon fan because I think they are too sweet. I was impressed by their green tea one. It really tasted like green tea and I really appreciate that. You can get breakfast and lunch here. They have a lot of dessert choices and in the future I will venture to try some of their delicacies. They have a lot of choices here. I think mango macaroons are popular here because there was only one when I was there on friday around 4pm. I also had the hazelnut which was just okay. The almond blueberry tarte has a finer nutty note and is topped with whipped cream and blueberry. Opening time says until 7pm, we came at 7:30pm and we still were served, but were not allowed to sit inside . People still came until 7:45pm. Honestly this is how you box 6 cup cakes?! I stopped by in a rush to pick up some cupcakes for dad's BD. Asked for 6 and even asked do you have a box for certain number. Sometimes bakeries have set size boxes, she pointed to a 4 slot cupcake holder and said we can do any size. I have never been served cupcakes in a huge box just wobbling away! This is by far the BEST red velvet cake I have ever had. It's moist, not too sweet but sweet enough, the frosting is amazing too. I'm so happy that decided to get this for my son's birthday this year. The staff is also friendly. Years ago, I use to work in the same plaza and I would also get their croissants or food items. They are equally good. Oh and their macaroons are also amazing. I actually don't like macaroons and these I wouldn't ever turn down. Just to note, I'm not a foodie and I don't like sweets or chocolate, but I devoured their desserts! Lastly, I have A LOT of food sensitivities and so I have to be careful with what I eat. Why, Why, Why is it so damn hard to find decent bakery goods in South OC? I was really hoping this place was going to be my go to bakery for all of my cake, cupcake, pastry needs..Wrong. I bought 2 cupcakes and 1 cookie. Both cupcakes (vanilla & chocolate Peanut butter) were Disappointing--at $3.50 each. 1. They were both small in size (like for a preschooler) 2. The frosting--I can't classify it as frosting. It wasn't whipped cream style or butter cream style. It was more like a powdered substance mixed with a fluid to create a dollop of mediocre strange fluff. 3. The cupcake--Not moist, flavorful or even desirable in taste. Costco cake has better texture and taste than these cupcakes. The good part was the cookie. It was a pecan-powdered sugar dusted shortbread delight; fresh and homemade tasting. Delicious for the $1.40 cost For $7.00 I spent on 2 disappointing cupcakes, I could have bought a Duncan Hines cake mix, jell-o pudding, chocolate chips and made delicious homemade cupcakes at home. Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff--but I will not return when I'm hankering for a cupcake. Hopefully your experience will be better. read more

I got the matcha latte with espresso (they call it the matcha milk drink on the menu) and it was delicious. Also tried the cupcakes and tres leches which were all super moist. My review for this place is based purely on their breakfast menu. With that said I like this place, but my hubby loves it! We don't go as often as he would like, but when we do go for breakfast he orders the Brioche French Toast (Pecan and Banana). He really likes the texture and taste of the french toast here. I on the other hand think it's good, but not great. I like protein as part of my breakfast routine, so I always get something with bacon and eggs. At this place I order the Breakfast combo which is two eggs (over easy), bacon, has browns (nice and crispy here), sourdough toast and fruit. It's good, but nothing special. But, If am here for the bakery part of the restaurant. I would give their red velvet cake a 5 star rating. Its so moist and OMG so good! I will save that review for next time, lol! It a small little bakery/breakfast place. They have about 5-6 tables, but plenty of patio seating. Parking was not too bad, but I can imagine it would be hard to find parking during lunch and dinner as the parking lot is not that big. read more

My friend got my birthday cake here and it was so scrumptious. A very simple and elegant naked cake. It was vanilla and Bavarian cream, the cake was so light and fluffy and not dense at all. After my party we would pick at it for what felt like a week! It was too good to throw away the extra! After lunch today, I finally stopped in to try their other treats and I'm so happy I did. The macaroons were so fresh and I split the tiramisu cake and it was also so delectable. Again very light and very flavorful! REVIEW BASED ON WEDDING ORDER: I want to start off by saying that their cakes are great. The flavors and execution are delicious so it's really unfortunate that the ownership & management is so terrible. We hired LCB for our wedding cake and though she did show up, they were the one vendor that I constantly had nightmares about leading up to the wedding. The owner who for the longest time was also the baker and business manager takes (I am not exaggerating) 3 months to get back to an email. I would call Liz several times to get a simple receipt or contract stating our agreement which you'd think would be simple when you're spending $700 on a cake. Not here. Anyways working with them was an absolute nightmare though they did show up thankfully for my wedding planner who was following up with her days before the event. SECONDLY, because her cakes are good my mom decided to give her a go since she didn't have time to try a bunch of other bakeries. Liz arrived late to deliver my moms cake to her wedding. The cake arrived to the reception at the same time as the guests...matter of fact she probably arrived a little after them. The cake looked a little rushed too if I made say so myself... Bottom line, I'm sure there is someone else out there with cake just as good. It's so sad that there is so much talent but the customer service and business portion of LCB is SO AWFUL.
