This was the most unacceptable experience I've had ever in a restaurant. We arrived with very few people in restaurant and ordered within 10 minutes. We waited one hour, yes, one hour for our food (which never came!) no one in management seemed to have anything to say despite all other later arriving tables being served. My next visit here, on a Saturday, by myself. Waitstaff and bartender, Phoebe, were really welcoming. Met some great people had some great food. They were very careful to tell anyone who asked about the pier, how shallow the water was. It's the Indian river, it's shallow! read more

Wound up there by accident. Haven't been there in about 9 months because the service and food was not good. This time service was the best, and food was awesome. Noticed 2 managers that I had never seen before. I know Francine was one of them. They made the biggest difference in this establishment. This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. The first time the food was good but the 4% credit card fee put a damper on the experience. I've eaten in a lot of restaurants and this is the first place I've been to that charges an extra 4% to use a credit card. The second time I ate at this place I had the fish & chips with french fries. The fish was more than overcooked to the point of being completely dried out. According to the online menu, the fish & chips are supposed to also come with tropical slaw. I never saw the slaw. Again, I had to pay 4% extra to use a credit card. I would suggest driving down the street to The Shack Riverfront Restaurant where the food is consistently good IMHO and they don't charge 4% to use a credit card. Best fish and chips I've had since I moved here. Also the lobster roll was exceptional and not too overpriced. Salad was fresh and good. Drinks were good too. So the location, food, and service were so much better than what we have seen in reviews. I truly think they are just a new restaurant working out the kinks. We got the magi tacos and the pan seared chicken and they were both so good, and came out in a timely manner. Our server Jennifer was hardworking and joyful. The view is fantastic. The only negatives were the fact that there is 4% fee for using a credit card. This actually didn't affect us because we used a debit card, but it just seems strange that they would do that. The other thing is that unless u choose to do valet parking, there is not much parking at all. (And the funny thing is that the parking lot is not that big to begin with) The valet parking just seems strange with a small parking lot, and like an effort to get money. First: the service was impeccable. 5 stars. It's too bad about everything else. A beautiful view of the river. Trying to be positive. The food was overpriced and NOT fresh. The "catch of the day" was the same exact thing as the grouper fish and chips. Literally ripping you off of like $4 by tricking you into buying the catch when it's the same thing. The Scallops I had in my Skippers ( which there were only 2 of FOR $36!!) were so nasty I couldn't even eat them. They were chewier than rubber and so overcooked, 0 flavor at all. Great scenic venue with a nice fresh breeze, friendly staff, servers and bartenders. However, the owners are rather cheap. I dined with a friend last year, the lobster bisque was cold, and a young lady who came to our table that was the hostess, with multiple nose rings, didn't know when to stop talking and leave us our peace. I asked for a small piece of bread or juice as I was a diabetic waiting for our main meal. It took them 15 minutes just to bring me a small glass of juice. In addition, I played there as a musician once, had to wait a very long time for my pay, even though the owners were sitting right at the bar, the majority of the time. After tearing down and loading all gear in my car, I still waited half an hour for someone to be decent enough to pay me, after letting them know multiple times I was tearing down and finished for the evening. Not cool. Having said, if you willing to tolerate mediocre food that's too expensive, you'll at least get a great view and some friendly bar staff. I personally will not be back. read more

This was a second visit. Both visits were about the same. The food was okay. It wasn't bad but there was nothing that stood out as exceptional. We were there on a Saturday before noon, only 2 tables taken inside. Nobody outside. You are greeted by a large station with ice that has lobster, fresh seafood and sushi that can be prepared by a cook. The pricing for entrees went anywhere from ~35 bucks to 120 bucks. Most entrees were in 40-60 dollar range which seems a little pricey. Despite the lack of people the food took well over 30 minutes to come out and that included 2 wedge salads that were sitting ready to go at the aforementioned ice station. When food arrived it was hot at least and then brought the wedge salads. The service seemed very slow considering the lack of customers. Even the manager came by and cleared things from table. They do charge 4% on your bill for a credit card. This place isn't "bad" but I don't think plunking down 170 bucks for brunch for that quality is worth it. The only real complaint I have is the 4% credit card fee they charge you on top of the high prices. With the amount they are charging they should be able to cover the credit card fees. I truly do love the lazy turtle. I absolutely love their lobster bisque and breadbowl (though sometimes I need a knife to cut the bowl bc I most DEFINITELY eat the entire thing). I went with a friend for lunch today and tried their peach and mango margarita. For someone who isn't a big fan of tequila, this was actually pretty tasty! I also noticed they've added a few things to their menu (will be trying the seafood boil next time). I give a 4/5 stars only bc our server wasn't the most attentive, she gave us our drinks and someone else brought our food, she didn't check on us much. I could give the second star for the view but other than that it is a one-star restaurant that has only one positive thing, the view. We had been once already when they were pretty new and had lobster rolls and tacos. That visit was great as far as the food. The lobster roll was packed with lobster and had a very fresh taste. The tacos were also very good; the service on the south bar deck was horrid. It took us 40 minutes to get our drinks, and then we had to beg for someone to take our order. It was amazingly bad service, but we chalked it up to them being new and dealing with inexperienced staff. We forgave the very long wait when it was not very busy because of the good food. We ate on the north deck on the second visit, and now the food was as bad as the service. The lobster roll had very little lobster in the bun and did not look at all the same as the one we had a month before. The paella was so extremely salty that the gentleman having the birthday could not eat it. We decided that there was no reason to come back for a third time when paella tasted like a salt lick, and the check was expensive for another bad meal with bad service. Had to visit this wonderful place again. A beautiful sunny day on the river. Cara was our terrific server. Smart, friendly and efficient. Once again we shared the crispy shrimp. Delicious. Also enjoyed a Lazy Turtle martini, highly recommend. Their Caesar salad presented the way it should always be. Crisp leaves of Romain covered with dressing and freshly shaved cheese. Attended a luncheon of 45 women at The Lazy Turtle. The staff is amazing. Efficient, very attentive and polite. The view of the river is one of the best around. Our food was served from first table to last, within a few minutes of beginning and it was hot! Not an easy task nor one you usually experience with a group this large. Chef John and his help did a fantastic job, and John's cheesecake is to die for! It is hard to please a group this large, but they did it! highly recommended for groups.
