I have found so many 5-star pizzas in NYC. This one though missed the mark in my opinion. I was near the Trade Center & popped into Stage Door for some pepperoni pizza. All I can say is was really boring. The sauce had no flavors. The pepperoni seemed cheap & without any zing or flavor. And the amount of oil coming off each slice caused huge puddles to show up on my plate. The restaurant & workers were fine, but the pizza really disappointed me. read more

After a lot of walking through the city, my wife and I were hungry so I figured, let's find a nearby pizza joint. I'm glad we saw Stage Door Pizza across the way. We had a wonderful quick, affordable lunch here. We were originally planning on getting an order to go, but after seeing the well lit room thanks to their massive windows and warmly colored walls, we decided to dine in. I'm so glad that we did because our waitress was wonderful and, because we were seated right next to the kitchen/pickup counter, we were able to see first hand the various pizza options they had which lead to us actually picking up a couple extra slices. In all, the slices we had were all great. Crispy crust, full of flavor, and tasted incredibly fresh. And prices were incredibly reasonable. Especially considering where it's located and that their clientele is probably mostly tourists. We ate our fill for around $20. No complains there at all. read more

Second floor is where you will find this quaint pizzeria. Just be sure your knees, and shoes are prepared. You have the option of ordering from the counter or "dining in" and getting full service. If you opt for the former, and decide to eat there, note that you'll have to sit at the counter or back window. Tables are for those who are "dining in" and the wait staff are taking care of. If you plan of tipping just go for full service and better seating. The slice.... crust was rather thin, but had a nice crisp and good flavor. The Sicilian was okay, the sauce on the sweeter side. Bland, boring, not feeling this pizza at all. Nothing about it makes me feel good, other than the music playing inside the restaurant. Each of the slices tastes exactly the same. The crust is good, but otherwise I did not feel there was much flavor to any of it. The cheese is not salty but rather bland. The sauce has a terribly tang to it, and turned into an ugly pink when folded. It left me unimpressed. The white slice offers nothing. It has as much personality as a stick on the floor. The sausage slice is just nasty. I had to pick off most of it in order to be salvaged. Only the crust was what made it edible. Worst of all is that this all cost $20. Look at my suggestions and eat at one of these. This is not one of them. I forgot to mention, the folks are fun and friendly, but otherwise the pizza needs work. read more

After a quick look, I yelped pizza and found this local gem. There was a line for the Deli downstairs but we headed up the steep stairway to "pizza". They had just opened so we waited 5 minutes for the first of the morning "bliss". I had Sicilian style while the boys had New York. My dear Queen Bee wanted to have a good old "NY slice" before we leave town...so I happened across this joint while we were in Battery Park City/Wall St. area. It's upstairs from a nondescript deli apparently owned by the same people. So up we go and find it kinda quiet in there. Nicely pleasant surprise for 1pm on a Friday...I imagine a lot of these office types are still "working" from home. Now it's fairly plain and straightforward looking just like any street corner pizza joint in Manhattan. We got seated by the window right away after we showed vaccine cards. I already had it in mind there I would have two slices with sausage. Most every pizza joint adds thin slices of sweet Italian sausage on top of a regular pizza and it's a true slice of joy. This place is no different and I'm one happy camper. I was gonna wash it down with a big Yuengling draft but they ran out. Boo! So I stuck with plain old NYC tap water; still better than Bud! Queen Bee couldn't quite make up her noggin whether to try this or that kind of a specialty slice, so she settled on pepperoni. That's a good barometer for a slice joint anyway...we both liked our respective slices, BTW. Crust had a nice chew to it and was well-baked as opposed to just tossed into the oven and pulled out underdone like one finds in Florida, where I live nowadays. Pizza Hell, indeed, much like near anyplace outside NYC area. Hey: it's my hometown ya know! Good sauce to toppings ratio, so the cheese and toppings didn't slide off. Crust was thin but not overly so like those coal fired pizza places where often the crust is blistered, blackened and like a cracker. Again, typical of a good NYC pizza joint. I showed my dear Queen Bee how to "prep" a slice for eating. Here, like in most places, there's oregano, Parmesan, garlic powder and crushed red pepper sitting nearby. She has been with me long enough to know that is how you eat a slice, and to "fold" it before the first bite. That's NY Pizza 101, and this joint seems to have it down. Now all they gotta do is get rid of the crappy lazy waitress who "served" us. Bill was a shade under $14 and she didn't wanna bring back change. So we asked for it and it was unceremoniously left on the table. Guess what? She only got a buck as a tip. read more

Prices are super reasonable and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The pizza was good we had slices of both the regular and Sicilian style. We also dipped into the dessert options. They were okay at best - the Tiramisu was solid but the Cannoli tasted old which was easy to see given the soft shell. I would just ask how fresh they are prior to ordering. This place was okay. It's in a great location because we stopped here after visiting the 9/11 memorial. It's has a nice view from above. It wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. They did check for our vaccination card to dine in. The pizza wasn't greasy. The bottom wasn't burnt. It was a large slice with a good amount of cheese.
