LB STEAK was very disappointing! We came in for Father's Day dinner. We ended ordering close to $600 for food and drinks 2 main dishes and 5 side dishes and 1 kids burger. Tomahawk Steak was the most expensive $175 worthless steak ever! It had lots of fat and ligaments that was not EDIBLE. For that price you would think it would be enjoyable. My mom ordered the Scallops which the server forgot to order which was fine because he apologized and admitted he forgot to order them and made it up with 2 free dessert. I really wanted to give it a 2.5 but there wasn't an option and it was more of a 2 then it was a 3. It lived up to its location. In a mall. It's like high end middle of the mall food that's way overpriced. For the steak I got (New York) I get it exactly how I want from my local butcher, organic, grass fed, and can guarantee it will be cooked right, but hey that's what eating out is all about nowdays right? The sides were all mids, hard to mess up Brussels sprouts so those were as expected, the twice baked potato has waterey, and the fires were on the line of couldnt tell if they were frozen, or just some midsy potatoes. When I eat out I expect the whole experience. 3 people at $600 I expect a 4 everytime. The only thing worth it was the service. Didn't get her name but the young lady who served us was very attentive and got us everything we asked for, and was so sweet when my wife couldn't decide to on her desert to comp us the one she was battling over. All the deserts were dry and mids. The almond cake needed to be eaten with gulps of water and the cheese cake was just weird. The drinks were nice and an easy 4/5 and I'd recommend the one I was drinking with myself a mezcal and pineapple, not sure whey everyone else was drinking but they like them too. Finally I'll bring up my son's meal. He's 3. He's only been to 2 places where he didn't eat the fries and burger. This was the 2nd. The portions were decent for HH. The drinks were strong even though it was HH pricing. It was a Friday evening, but not busy. We were able to get a table in their HH area right away. It's been years since I've been here. Came for dinner. We didn't have reservations but they were able to seat us. Same ambience. Mood lighting. We were looking forward to have a really good steak! My husband and I ordered the Tomahawk for Two, a salad and a couple sides. Our server was nice but he rarely checked on us. Only when our salads came, when he cleared the salad plates, and next was when the steak came out. Market little gem lettuce: This isn't your typical green salad. It was more like a coleslaw with a lot of wonton strips. Not my favorite. I was hoping for more greens and less dressing. Tomahawk ribeye for two: Huge. Said it would take 45 min which was fine. We ordered it medium rare but it came out pretty rare in the middle for my liking. Although it came with rows of different salts on the cutting board, the steak itself needed flavor. I came here years ago at the Santana Row location and had a much better experience, so this visit was really disappointing. I will say the service was great, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. The sliders felt very basic, something my teenage niece could have put together. They were served on Hawaiian rolls and ended up being mostly bread. The truffle fries arrived cold, which was a letdown, and the calamari was mostly sitting on a bed of lettuce, making the portion look bigger than it actually was. Overall, it just did not match the quality I remembered. I would never return for happy hour. I left hungry and wanted to just get out of there and spends my money elsewhere. read more

Came over for a date night and we were genuinely impressed by the vibes and food! We arrived at 8:50 to a 9 o'clock reservation and were almost immediately sat down. After looking over the menu we ordered drinks and a bread basket for $7. The bread was definitely unique olive sourdough, regular sourdough, rosemary focaccia. The bread was decent but it didn't taste that fresh. We got our food in less than 20 minutes of ordering. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. Mac and cheese is definitely some of the best I've had from a steakhouse. This was my first time trying LBs and it's one of my favorites. We went to LB Steak in San Ramon to celebrate a birthday. We were promptly greeted and seated by the charming hostess. We ordered oysters, steak tartare, filet mignon, Wagyu burgers, and a huge tomahawk steak, truffle fries and Brussels sprouts. Food was excellent as always, and Maria provided excellent service. The dining room was full but the time we left. Earlier there was a part of 12 ladies celebrating lunar New Year, so it was too lively and hard to carry on a conversation. Bishop Ranch offers a lot of parking in the parking structure, outside ground level too, and there is an option for valet parking. The food and service at both San Ramon and Santana Room were excellent, it's only a matter of choosing which location to go to. read more

I visited LB Steak for a holiday end of the year team lunch. I have been to the Santana Row location years ago, but this time we went to the San Ramon location. We had a group of nine and made our reservation over the phone since the online system would not allow a party that large. We arrived right when they opened at 11:30 on a Monday. We started with appetizers and ordered the calamari and the house bread. The calamari had good texture but definitely needed more sauce. The green sauce on the plate looked nice but was not something you could really dip into. The whipped butter for the bread was very good. For my meal I ordered the boneless ribeye cooked medium with a side of bone marrow. The steak came out cooked correctly and was seasoned well. The quality was good. It was not the best steak I have had, but it was enjoyable and not chewy. The bone marrow was delicious. As a group we shared several sides which included truffle fries, mac and cheese, a loaded potato and brussels sprouts. Everything tasted good. The mac and cheese was just okay since it was a little watery and the flavor was not as rich as I prefer. Our server was polite and efficient but not very personable. He took our orders and checked in when needed but did not really engage with us. Overall LB Steak is a decent choice. It is not my top pick for a steakhouse because there are better options in the Bay Area. My manager chose it since it was centrally located for everyone on our team which worked out well. To me, Lb Steak had the most appealing Restaurant Week offering on paper, and fortunately the execution did not disappoint. The lobster roll was the best I've had outside Maine. The steak was a ribeye, providing an exceptional value. For appetizers, you can't go wrong with a properly made Caesar salad; however, the clam chowder was forgettable. Although I cannot comment on the regular menu, I was satisfied with the quality of the Restaurant Week special. I also want to mention that out of three places I frequented for Restaurant Week, LB was the only one displaying their special. VISIT & RESERVATION: We came here for Restaurant Week. I've dined at LB Steak several times over the last few years and was excited to try their new prix-fixe offering. When I made the reservation online, I noticed that a credit card was required to book for the Restaurant Week option, but not for the standard menu. It made me wonder why that was necessary. Since we were a group of 4, I chose the prix-fixe option since that's what we were all coming here for. When we arrived, the hostess informed me that no booth was available, even though I had requested one in the reservation notes. It seemed to be the first time she saw the note, as she did a double-take before taking us to our table, which told me the request hadn't been reviewed in advance. She gave me the option of sitting at a regular table or a half booth w/2 chairs on the other side. I declined since it would've been weird for our party of 4. We were then seated at a regular table in the main dining room. On top of that, we were only given two prix-fixe menus for our party of 4, which felt like another small oversight since they make you pick your menu in the reservation. SERVICE: Our server, Alejandro, was unfortunately neither welcoming nor attentive. Since this was the first visit for two members of our party, I felt a bit embarrassed by the lack of hospitality. Our drink order took a while to be taken, and throughout the meal, he checked on us only a few times. When he did, the interactions felt unwelcoming, rather than warm. Almost like he dreaded coming to our table and only stopped by to check off a box to say he did. The service was extremely disappointing and not consistent with past experiences here. DRINKS: Hubby loves his old fashioned so he got one of those and their ice cube with the engraving is always so impressive to us. I ordered a mocktail which was good but a tad too sweet, while the other two in our party ordered a glass of wine which they seemed to enjoy. FOOD: We all selected the prix-fixe menu. -Starter: The Caesar salad was excellent, with anchovies that added a nice touch. Someone in our group had the clam chowder, and they thought it was very good. -Entrée: My steak frites was cooked to the requested medium-rare and was tender, but lacked seasoning. In the past, LB Steak presented a tray of assorted salts, which was a nice detail, but this time I was simply given a salt shaker. The bearnaise sauce was cold and goopy. When I asked our server about it, he said it's served like that. I didn't eat it and wasn't needed. -Dessert: I chose the apple pie, which I enjoyed, though it could have been served warmer. Others in the group found it too sweet. One only ate half, and the other barely touched theirs. My husband ordered the lava cake, but it lacked the lava molten center and instead had a static, goopy chocolate filling. While less sweet in flavor compared to the apple pie, the presentation and texture were underwhelming. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Certain parts of the meal stood out, the Caesar salad in particular, but the overall experience was diminished by inattentive service, reservation quirks, and the absence of those special touches that once set LB Steak apart. It also left the impression that, because we chose the prix-fixe menu, we may not have received the same level of attentiveness as guests ordering à la carte. ADDITIONAL NOTES: There were some small but noticeable service misses: -Bread was offered, but we later learned it now carries an extra charge, unlike in past visits. -Coffee was only offered once we were already halfway through dessert, which was too late. -The credit card hold for Restaurant Week felt unnecessary, especially when paired with service that didn't meet expectations. -Earlier in the Summer, I tagged LB Steak in my Instagram stories as my husband and I had gone for Happy Hour, and they replied to my stories saying if I ever made a reservation in the future, to let them know. This is a nice restaurant with nice decor and, for a higher end restaurant, fairly reasonable prices. I ordered the NY strip and asked for medium rare. I received the toughest most overcooked steak I've had in years. Two others in my group ordered the same thing and got the same. The error probably starts from the cut -- at just about every other decent steakhouse the NY strip is a nice thick cut about 1.5 to 2 inches... This was a very thin cut, probably less than an inch thick. I guess they wanted it to look bigger in the plate. But the result is a completely overcooked steak. I didn't want to make a big deal about sending it back and waiting another 20 and ruining the mood so I just ate it. The other two in my party said exactly the same. I don't know how you can pretend to run a nice steakhouse and not know what medium rare looks like. It's not cooked completely through with almost no pink at all! I cannot comment about the regular all-day menu but I frequent here for happy hour quite often and I have grown to really like it. Happy hour seating is limited though, it's only in the bar and a selected tables (shared seating) near the front. It's very casual for happy hour. The happy hour times from 4 to 6pm on weekday works really well for me, it allows me to make it in there in time after work. I have even visited on a weekday holiday and they had happy hour. The service is relatively good during happy hour. Occasionally, I have to flag the server down but overall, I am pretty happy with it. They are also very children friendly - they have plastic cups with lids and straws. Sometimes, they provide the kiddos with crayons and the kid menu to doodle but not always. As for the happy hour items, we always get the burger. I think the burger isn't bad, the amount of fries I get varied each time I go. We also like the fritto misto and the green sauce with it is really good. The loaded tots is good but sometimes they skimp on the sauce, I prefer more sauce so it's hit and miss. We usually get the same items from the happy hour and relatively happy with it. I definitely will return for happy hour. read more

Our first time visit to LB Steak came the day after Valentines. We sat in the lounge so we could take advantage of the happy hour apps and drinks. We had shrimp cocktail and calamari. Both were very good but small portions. We also ordered the Mai Tai's. For our meal we each had the fillet and our sides were baked potato, Brussel sprouts, asparagus, and sauce sampler. All were very good and we enjoyed sampling the different sauces with our steak. My steak was a little overcooked but it was still very tasty. Overall the staff and ambiance were nice. I so badly wanted to love LB Steak Bishop Ranch, especially because the service was excellent. It had all the things I love, a wedge salad, bone marrow, fish and steak. And yet, LB's main issues are the quality of their protein is low, and their flavor profiles were off. My favorite item we had was the sea bass. It was crispy and seasoned well and the honey's favorite was the pork belly. But the honey's steak was a no-go for him (and done well, not medium as requested) and there wasn't much to the bone marrow, with one of the pieces being just bone with the oil spread over it. Even when asked directly if everything was okay, I wasn't sure how to tell them to spend more money on their cuts, because meat prices have skyrocketed and sourcing is probably a nightmare right now. To start on a positive note, our server Mike was attentive and provided good service throughout the evening. However, the food quality did not meet expectations, especially given that our meal was nearly $400. * The sautéed white gulf prawns were average * The salads were fine * The boneless ribeye (ordered medium rare) came out rare and was very fatty/gristly * The hamburger was dry * The petite filet was undercooked (rare instead of medium rare) * The lobster was overcooked and chewy * Sides were acceptable but did not make up for the issues with the main dishes There was also confusion about lobster availability when ordering, which added to the inconsistency of the experience. This was meant to be a meaningful birthday dinner, which made the experience especially disappointing. Idk if that makes sense. The taste is there but they need more sauce. Like a lot more. The item that shines is their wagyu burger. For $12 including fries it's amazing. Went here for a business lunch and unfortunately the steak was one of the worst steaks I have ever had. A few of us ordered the dry aged ribeye and a few others ordered the regular ribeye. There was no dry age flavor and tasted the same as the regular ribeye. The meat itself was also very tough and chewy, it did not feel like USDA Prime at all. We also all asked for medium-rare but got med-well. Finally, they were all under-seasoned. The only reason for the 2 stars is the because the calamari and pork belly appetizers were pretty good. AFTER THE YELP ELITE EVENT Last year in the summer I attended a YEE event at Left Bank Brasserie at Jack London Square. I enjoyed that YEE so much if there was a one at LB Steak I would reserve it in a heartbeat. In January there was YEE at this LB Steak location. I made the reservation on the second day when this YEE reservation was opened and feared I would be put on the waitlist, which happened. I never had the opportunity to go to the YEE at LB Steak. The first time I came here was on my Mother's Day. There was a brunch menu, which included steak and eggs. I ordered that dish for myself. The steak was filet however I decided to get petite filet. My sister decided to order two steaks for everyone to share - boneless ribeye and tomahawk rib eye. My petite filet was tender. The ribeye steak was the juiciest. When it comes to eating a tomahawk steak the flavor comes from the meat near the bone. My sister and I also used our inKind app for this meal because we had $50 rewards. By using the app not only we redeemed the earned but also earned cash rewards that was about 20% of the bill. The second time I came here was about three weeks later. I was thinking about getting the wagyu steak. I ended up getting the Brandt Farms cowboy steak. This steak was a ribeye with a bone. For appetizers I ordered the bone marrow and beets salad. Also I'm a sucker for bread so I order the LB Steak bread basket. I liked the appetizers, but I came here for the steak. The Brandt Farms cowboy steak I ate was tastier than the three steaks I ate on my first visit. I believe that it was due to the portion of the steak along with the bone and fat. Using the inKind app I received another 20% cash rewards off the bill. The third time was on the first Monday in August. I had about $97 in my inKind wallet to be used by August 31. I plan to use all of it for lunch. My plan was to order the LB Signature Steak, which is a marinated wagyu, and a dessert. Since the LB Signature Steak is a la carte that has no sides I decided to get a side order. I didn't want a basic side order I had before at any steakhouses. I asked my server what is in the wagyu fried rice. He said it was the fat trimmings from the wagyu that is rendered and used for fried rice. I decided to order it. I was concerned the wagyu fried rice would be heavy. The wagyu fried rice was underwhelming because it was unseasoned. The LB Signature Steak was interesting because of the marinated wagyu added flavor. Even though I requested it to be medium rare the wagyu didn't taste pasty. I enjoyed eating the steak. However the LB Signature Steak isn't the best steak I ate at LB Steak. That honor goes to the Brandt Farms cowboy steak. Part of the reason regarding the LB Signature Steak the marinade overpowers the taste of the wagyu. For dessert I ordered the spiced chocolate cake, which wasn't spicy yet was rich in chocolate. Overall on my multiple visits to LB Steak I've enjoyed eating here. My favorite steaks were the tomahawk and cowboy steak as they are bone-in steaks. Of all the appetizers I recommend the LB Steak bread basket. Also another bread dish I recommend ordering is roasted bone marrow, which comes with toasted bread. Spreading the fatty bone marrow on the buttery, toasted bread is indulgent. When it comes to steak, I wish LB Steak would have more bone-in steaks like T-bone (less expensive than a tomahawk), NY steak, and bone-in strip steak. A Disappointing Experience. Let's start with the ambiance. It has the classic steakhouse feel--dark, cozy, and reminiscent of a 60-year-old's man cave (not meant as an insult). The decor is nice, and the restaurant is clean. However, it's located in a mall, which means you'll encounter all types of guests. We came for date night on Valentine's Day and were surprised by how many people were dressed very casually. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience where the atmosphere matches the occasion, this isn't the place. Moving on to service. Our server was polite but seemed disengaged--not very attentive and only checked in on our food once. She didn't offer refills after we finished our bottle of sparkling water and never asked if I wanted another drink or a glass of wine with our steak. When you're paying a premium, service should be exceptional, and this fell short. Now, the food. The biggest disappointment was spending over $500 and not having a single dish that stood out or made us want to return. The grilled octopus was overcooked--there's a fine line between a good chew and being rubbery, and this crossed it. The ribeye was underwhelming; we've made better at home. The wagyu, which should have been buttery and tender, required far too much chewing. Wagyu should melt in your mouth! To make matters worse, we were served an inedible end piece (see pic), yet still charged an extra $30 for that ounce. It shouldn't have been on the plate. The highlights were the bone marrow and fritto misto, but that's not enough to justify the price. To top it off, when I asked our server to pack up our leftovers (bread basket, truffle fries, and steak), the bread was left out. It felt like she was half paying attention all night. This place charges fine-dining prices without delivering a fine-dining experience. If they're going to price their menu that way, everything--service, food, and ambiance--needs to be top-tier. Maybe my expectations were high, but at this price point, there shouldn't be so many disappointments. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it. We came here for Easter brunch, and enjoyed everything about this place. They are located at City Center (Bishop Ranch) in San Ramon. Upon entering, you get that steakhouse vibe with the dark leather seats and formal atmosphere. We were seated immediately, and the service was superb throughout. For Easter, they offered a few additional items along with their all day dinner menu. We opted for the Easter options: + Beet cured salmon eggs benedict - this is kinda like smoked salmon but not as salty. The beets made the salmon a pretty red, but there wasn't any beet taste. The eggs were perfectly runny. This is served with country potatoes and a few salad greens. Very good and satisfying. + Steak and eggs - 2 sunny side up eggs with tater tots and 3 steak options (NY, filet, ribeye). The steak was perfectly cooked, but I couldn't get over how light and crispy those tater tots were. It's a bit on the formal side, so this is a great option for that special occasion. read more

I've dined at LB Steakhouse in San Ramon many times, both for personal meals and while hosting events, and it consistently delivers a great experience. The service is always attentive and professional, and the drinks are well made. The food overall is fantastic. The petite filet mignon is especially flavorful, tender, and cooked perfectly every time. The crab cake is outstanding--one of the best I've had anywhere, with a crispy exterior and deliciously rich flavor inside. That said, the ribeye was a bit underwhelming. While the steak itself was cooked well, the sauce didn't complement the meat and made the dish just "okay" compared to the other excellent menu items. Still, LB Steakhouse remains a solid choice for fine dining in the area. With a little tweak to the ribeye preparation, this would easily be a five-star experience. read more

That you can give me as a last meal in death row. It's decadent and delicious. Seafood options are yummy and fresh as well. I like the tower to share if you have a good sized group. LB has my favorite happy hour. It's a small menu, but hits every time. The service is impeccable. The staff is so friendly! I treasure my visits here. It is pricey, but it is a 5 star experience for me. I love that I can come in dressy or casual as well. Had a very nice experience here today. We started with the octopus for the table. It was a hit, we had the beet salad, that was very good as well. My family had a very pleasant experience dining at LB Steak! We had a party of five, and though it wasn't very busy on a Sunday evening, we made a reservation anyway. The parking lot of the City Center Bishop Ranch mall was not too busy and there were plenty of spaces right outside the restaurant. The interior is nice, clean, and classy without being too fancy. Service was quite attentive and friendly. I can't remember our server's name unfortunately, but she was really helpful in providing recommendations for everything from drinks to desserts, and she checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. I ordered the salmon, which was excellent and very beautifully plated. We also ordered a few sides to share with the table; the highlight to me was the Brussels sprouts, which were extremely flavorful. Our party was pretty full after dinner, so we just ordered one chocolate molten cake to share. Overall it was a satisfying meal and I look forward to returning on a future nice occasion! read more

I was asked to choose a spot for my birthday and decided to try out LB Steak. The menu looks fantastic with amazing apps, Wagyu steaks and an extensive wine list. Honestly, this place is way better on paper than in person. Apps...Had Chilean Sea Bass and shrimp cocktail. Neither was great, just okay. Asked about Australian ribeye Wagyu and was basically talked out of it as not a crowd favorite. Picked regular ribeye and again, nothing to get excited about. Wife got filet and unfortunately not cooked correctly. Was sent back and brought back out two minutes later, which is fine. Desserts were great with bread pudding and a complimentary chocolate cake (thank you!) Ambiance was disappointing. Bright shopping center lights from outside take away any intimate vibes, screaming kids killed any buzz and random peeps showing up in shorts and hoodies took away the wow factor. Shopping center steak house with foolish pricing is the best way to describe this spot. I would come back for a dessert after grabbing a pizza and beer next door. read more

In Bishop Ranch, when it comes to grabbing a drink, great food and better service I go to Lb Steakhouse. Since Mark and Derek showed up this places vibe has completely changed. It's more energetic and I feel like family here. Sara, Teresa, Sierra and Enrique are literally the best bartenders and severs in the biz. Attentive, professional and fantastic. Agreed with son that the tomahawk steak was the best, and finally got a chance to try it out. It is really yuuuge, 48 ounces, lightly flavored, and very good steak. Wasn't so impressed with the boneless rib eye and scallops. The meshed potatoes were likely the best I have ever had, but son didn't confirm and I am not really a fan of meshed potatoes. The Mac and cheese sucked though, way too much garlic and son said the over the top butter gave him dietary reactions (he is slightly lactose intolerant though seldom has that problem since he was infant). The sauce for the steak could be better, the salt choices were way too thick. read more
