Honestly, this place is way better on paper than in person. Apps...Had Chilean Sea Bass and shrimp cocktail. Neither was great, just okay. Asked about Australian ribeye Wagyu and was basically talked out of it as not a crowd favorite. Picked regular ribeye and again, nothing to get excited about. Wife got filet and unfortunately not cooked correctly. Was sent back and brought back out two minutes later, which is fine. Desserts were great with bread pudding and a complimentary chocolate cake (thank you!) Ambiance was disappointing. Bright shopping center lights from outside take away any intimate vibes, screaming kids killed any buzz and random peeps showing up in shorts and hoodies took away the wow factor. My family had a very pleasant experience dining at LB Steak! We had a party of five, and though it wasn't very busy on a Sunday evening, we made a reservation anyway. The parking lot of the City Center Bishop Ranch mall was not too busy and there were plenty of spaces right outside the restaurant. The interior is nice, clean, and classy without being too fancy. Service was quite attentive and friendly. I can't remember our server's name unfortunately, but she was really helpful in providing recommendations for everything from drinks to desserts, and she checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. I ordered the salmon, which was excellent and very beautifully plated. We also ordered a few sides to share with the table; the highlight to me was the Brussels sprouts, which were extremely flavorful. Our party was pretty full after dinner, so we just ordered one chocolate molten cake to share. Overall it was a satisfying meal and I look forward to returning on a future nice occasion! read more

Wasn't so impressed with the boneless rib eye and scallops. The meshed potatoes were likely the best I have ever had, but son didn't confirm and I am not really a fan of meshed potatoes. The Mac and cheese sucked though, way too much garlic and son said the over the top butter gave him dietary reactions (he is slightly lactose intolerant though seldom has that problem since he was infant). Returned to celebrate my brother's birthday, and found that the accuracy on the temperature of my ribeye was not the same perfection that I experienced during my first visit. My medium rare steak came out black and blue with large chunks of unrendered fat. Additionally, I ordered a side of mushrooms to go with my steak that came out of the kitchen so late that we were all done eating by the time I received them. The kitchen either missed the ticket or the waitress forgot to enter them. I had to box them up and take them home, but at least they are great in omelets! New to the area, I was referred to this place based on a local Yelp Event! I'm glad I came and tried it out. The ambiance was swanky, roomy, and have a beautiful outdoor fire pit to relax. I sat at the bar area, that had the perfect height and space for a good dinner. Every person I talked to was polite and took the time to answer any of my curiosities, even in passing to find out how the heck they put that steer design on their ice cubes, haha. My NY Strip steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and I found myself quite satisfied with just that for the meal. My Vanilla Bean Old Fashioned was also easy to sip on between each savory bite. I can't help but appreciate the attention to detail they put into their dish as well as their cocktails to give them LB's personality. After attending an event, I decided since I was already in town, I should just stick around for dinner! I grabbed a seat at the bar and as I was trying to figure out how big or small my eyes would be in comparison to the actual space in my tummy, I asked the bartender, Enrique, for his recommendations between a few items. I started off with the roasted beet salad, which was good- but nothing unique of course- so I had to get out of my comfort zone. I'm SLOWLY working my way into red meats that have a little more "moo" (yes... I used to prefer the tough as leather!) :-D So tonight I asked Enrique, between the carpaccio and tartare, as to which he would recommend. He did NOT steer me wrong. For the girl that refuses raw meat and hates capers... that steak tartare was quite easily one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. I have come quite a few times and I would rather not come back because my steak is never cooked consistently. I usually get the filet and it has been very dry more times than not. Rarely I get an overall good tasting steak (I do get it medium) but it should be juicy, not so dry that I cannot swallow. We came for our anniversary and the service was stellar. So we wanted to try something different this time! We started with an order of truffle fries and a plate of wagyu bone marrow, which were both delicious. The marrow was super rich, and there was so much marrow on the bone that the provided bread was hardly enough to go with it! For an appetizer, it was very filling. The tomahawk took a while to come out, but it was quite a sight! The giant bone came out on a board with three kinds of salt and also the tarragon bearnaise I ordered. The meat was certainly more than enough for both of us, and we ended up taking most of it to-go (alongside the bone, for our dogs back home). LB Steak gave my fiance a birthday card and a slice of chocolate cake for his birthday, which was a much appreciated gesture. Overall, we had a very satisfactory meal and would come back again. Unfortunately my experience makes me wary of the quality of the whole menu and made such an impression that I doubt I will return here and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. It was just a brief visit for happy hour before the killer clown movie. Light bites - oysters, battered fish bites (salmon? halibut?), shrimps, and a martini. All very tasty and reasonably priced for HH in a comfortable friendly setting. But it's the staff that gets all the stars. From the hostess to the super sweet, attentive, lovely server and all the prompt professional support staff - that's what makes the difference. I came here for lunch with a friend. No problems getting reservations on a Monday. We sat down and were promptly served water. After a few minutes of conversation, staff member came over and asked us for drink orders and if we are ready to order our meal. I had a time restriction, so I asked our server if there would be enough time to have a steak for lunch. There was no problem, so I ordered a ribeye. The ribeye came out within 10 minutes, cooked to my request. I was expecting something a little thicker-the steak was maybe a third of an inch thick at the most. I did not realize that when I ordered a steak it came plain. No rice, no veggies, no decoration on the plate. Just a piece of meat. . That was my mistake for not reading the fine print, however, I feel our server could have said something about that. It was really weird eating a steak without anything else. The ribeye tasted really good. Really good flavor in it. Unfortunately, it had a fair amount of gristle and fat in it. To me, it felt like there was a lot more fat in it than there should've been for a cut so thin. We ordered a calamari appetizer, which was pretty good. The restaurant itself is very nice. Very cozy and clean. He can hold a lot of people, and I can see it getting more crowded in the evenings especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Haven't had a chance to have a nice dinner out with the wife for a bit so decided to try LB steak after dropping the kids off to the movie theater. The menu looked promising but as my wife said we should have known it would not be good when they said they didn't have ranch dressing for the salad lol. It's not that the food was bad. It's just that it was about at least 30% overpriced for what you get. Let's take a tour of our order. We started with the bread basket and 2 wedge salads. The olive bread was the highlight of the dinner but most steak places in my opinion shouldn't charge for bread and butter unless it's outstanding. The salads were nothing special and the dressing barely had any flavor. It was like watery milk with some blue cheese. For our main course we went with the boneless ribeye. Which I heard was a signature dish here. It was cooked as ordered which was about the best thing I can say. Other than that it was a normal run of the mill steak probably worth about half what they charge at best. We each had an LB potato which was good but cold. The onion rings were ok and the Mac and cheese was decent. Mistakes in our service were abundant for a supposedly fine dining restaurant. No forks given with salad or even on the table. Several dishes that were ordered never came. The waiter couldn't even seem to figure out how to lay our plates on the table and even yelled at my wife not to touch the plate instead calmly stating it may be hot. Which it wasn't. Everything was cold except the Mac and cheese. As for the ambiance, it wasn't good or bad it was non existent. Honestly the 3 stars I gave it is a stretch and I won't be returning. So good!!! Came to try their phenomenal Hapoy Hour Deal today and it is the BOMB! Seriously, where can you find a full size wagyu beef burger for just $10 (+$1 for cheese). It was delish and a full sized burger with fries... honestly I was only expecting a mini burger for HH. Yay ~ Their Oktoberfest Special such as the Potato Pancake, and the Grilled Bratwurst Bun were SO GOOD!!! Both dishes were cooked and flavored perfectly , and delicious. Highly recommended. 1/2 dozen oysters. You can never go wrong with fresh oysters. HH Special at $10.50 for 6. Very good! We also ordered the Korean chicken wing $12 ... it's ok. I wouldn't order again as the crispy skin isn't really done right and the dough was too hard and too thick. The Fritto Misto (fried calamari and shishito peppers) was ok. While it's a GREAT deal at only $6, I found the calamari either refried or over fried, it was hard and tasted old. Shishito peppers are always delicious. Another amazing meal at one of the best Steakhouses in the Bay Area. We tried the Wagyu Flight tonight, yes it's expensive.... but damn it was amazing. I actually wished I didn't love it so much. I'll be dreaming of this steak dinner for the next several nights. To enhance the steak experience we included their signature Brussel Sprouts and their truffle mushrooms, both accompanied the Waygu perfectly. We decided to end the meal with the. The Happy Hour at LB was once one of my go to spots in the Tri Valley but now the food and drinks has just fallen off a steep cliff. It's been sometime since I last went so i thought it would be fun to go with some friends the day after Christmas.. It was a mistake. The cocktails and wine tasted significantly worse than previous visits. I assume they downgraded the quality of the booze. It tastes like dive bar drinks frankly despite the fact that I know the bartender who was on duty makes outstanding drinks typically. My only assumption here is that the downgraded the alcohol quality. Drinks: Our group had every single one of the HH cocktails along with multiple glasses of wine. (Grade D) Let's get to the food: Fritto Misto ($6): Yes I know this is inexpensive, but cmon, literally 4 pieces of calamari which was cold and sitting atop some wilted mixed greens.. Charge a little more and bring back the old version. (Grade F) Oysters ($24): A dozen oysters.. Not great but not bad, no issues. (Grade B) St Louis Pork Ribs ($12): 4 pieces of miniature ribs that were basically cut asian style with 85% of it being bone/cartilage. This was literally less than 1 normal St. Louis Rib... I mean cmon... you get get an whole rack for $12 wholesale. You guys should remove this off the menu because its a total joke. (Grade F Minus if there is such a thing). Truffle Fries ($7): Small but solid. LB has always had good fries and they still do. (Grade B+) Wagyu Sliders ($4 or $5 with Bacon): Gone from the HH menu is the Wagyu Burger which was a major draw and in its place is instead is the sliders which is on a Hawaiian style roll now. The slider resembles something I'd expect from Costco food court.. Despite this the beef flavor is still solid which is its only saving grace. Bring back the Wagyu Full Burger and just charge more. (Grade: D) Overall: What used to be a solid "A" Happy Hour has somehow turned into a disaster. Spending over $200 for 4 people at HH for what pretty much what I'd call dive bar drinks and food scraps is pretty bad. Instead of skimping on the drink and HH food items my suggestion is that you raise the prices and keep the quality high and portion sizes to be fair. Everyone knows that food cost/labor/utilities etc.. has gone up so it wouldn't be a shock if the menu reflects this. Please go back to the old menu as the current HH items are a disaster.. A friend has been to telling us about a great Happy Hour at LB Steak and that we need to meet up to try it out. We made it happen on a recent Friday. We arrived at 4:05 and were sat at one of the bar tables. The happy hour is from 4-6pm and is for seating at the bar and the tables in the lounge area. The area was pretty much full already. There's a TV on the bar wall that was on a sports channel. The menu consists of six Bites items, wine (sparking, red, white and rose), rotating beer selection, two mock tails, and four cocktails. I got a beer, and we shared the loaded tater tots and each got the Wagyu burger. The loaded tater tots were topped with bacon bits, chives, and a four cheese béchamel. Good size bowl of tots. The Wagyu burger came with lettuce and tomato with cheese add-ons at $1 and fries and dill pickle wedge. The burger was good with toasted buns, but felt the patty could have been thicker. Our waitress was friendly and food came out in a relatively quick. A good happy hour at City Center San Ramon. read more

This review is for their happy hour. We have dined for dinners and happy hours and have always left having a great experience. The last 2 times our happy hour experience has started to go down hill. From our most recent happy hour: 1. We ordered 1 dz oysters off the happy hour menu: they did not taste fresh. The oysters had bits of the cracked shell pieces that kept getting in our mouth. After have 3 we left the rest. Now this is where I expected for the waitress to ask but instead asked if we were done and proceeded to remove them from the table. 2. The happy hour burgers do not taste the same as they once did. Maybe they started using a different cut of ground beef but it was dry and bland. The bun was soggy from the extra oil on the patty. Went there on a weekends. They were able to fit us in for a reservation of 2 at 7:45. We got there early and noticed that all the shops were closed at 7pm. So nothing to walk around. We ordered the Japanese wagyu beef 5oz. The meat melted in my mouth. Also order a regular filet and it also cooked perfectly. However, they made a mistake for our side. We ordered lobster Mac and Cheese and was mistaken as baked potato. They did apologized and was able to remake the Mac and cheese right away. However, I won't recommended lobsters Mac and cheese. There were just a few pieces lobster meat there (you possibly won't even tasted the lobster at all $39) We also ordered scallop x2 pieces to try. The favoring was good ($11 each). When we were ready to order the dessert, our serve was nowhere to be found?! We were waiting for him to come back from nowhere for another 10 minutes. We ordered the chocolate lava cake which was also delicious. Overall the food was great but the service was bad. First when they served our main course steak, they didn't give us silverware?!? We have to ask for silverware. Then the mistake Mac and cheese. Then the server was not available for dessert and our check. And what the worst when I looked at the check, they also charged us for the baked potato that we didn't order and eat? I think that kind of mistake showed bad customer service. We showed up for happy hour 4-6pm M-Fri this evening and by 5pm no seats indoors were available. We sat outside and a heater was set-up for us. We ordered a dozen oysters, the calamari, some tater tots and 4 burgers. They came out quickly and we wanted to couple everything with wings but they were already sold out for the evening. The oysters were fresh and so was the calamari. The tater tots were also good but I would suggest ordering grilled onions with the burger and add bacon to get the best flavor. The happy hour is the best value at this location; however, you must be aware that you cannot make a reservation for happy hour. If you want an indoor seat and availability of the happy hour menu you should try to arrive at 4pm at the top of the hour.... Overall, great value and service! read more

Service was good but they were way understaffed, which lead to wait times to receive drinks, check, etc. Waitress was very nice, professional, and knew the menu well. Food was good. Steak was undercooked. Ordered medium rare and it came out very rare. I ordered an old fashion and it came out after 15-20 minutes. No garnish, and had clearly been sitting on the bar for an extended period of time (glass was sweating and the ice cube had melted significantly). None of this was horrible and I didn't send anything back to keep a positive vibe at the table. However, I expect more when paying $120 for a steak and $25 for a drink read more

My husband and two little ones visited last week during happy hour because we'd always wanted to try their wagyu burger, but it was such a huge disappointment. We also rarely go out with kids so I thought it was going to be a nice time, but even the service was a disappointment. We've been here a few times for dinner before, but for some reason, the food during happy hour was dry and bland. We ordered the wagyu burger medium, but it came out well-done and was really dry. The buns were falling apart, and everything was just dry and disappointing. Honestly, you could get a better burger elsewhere, try Roam. The tater tots were good, the Korean chicken wings had no heat to them at all, and the oysters were fine, but nothing special. In terms of customer service, our server was not great. She just gave off a bad mood. She never came around to ask us how we were doing or how the food was. Maybe she doesn't like working happy hour. Who knows? They would not take our reservation saying it was fully booked but we decided to show up and try walking in and we got a seat which is good. It was strange they said it was fully booked because it definitely wasn't. The restaurant is chiq and got nice ambiance and decor. The mood is intimate and classy. The service was not great. They were not able to keep track of who ordered what when delivering the dishes. And they kept missing peoples drink orders. The waitress came and gave water and took drink orders for half the table but forgot about two people and just left. It took a few times to flag them down. Drink service took 30min already on its own. And when we asked for check, it took 15min to come. It's a bit surprising how lacking the service was for the type of restaurant and cost of the dinner. For the actual food, the appetizers were great. We got calamari and shrimp. Both were fantastic. For entrees I got Branzino fish which was great seasoning flavor. There was a nice smoke on it which was delicious. Mu coworker got a tomahawk seemed to like it. My husband got the new york strip steak. For the price of the steak, it was certainly very lacking. It was greatly under seasoned and quality was not great. The cut of meat tasted like choice beef and was not tender at all. It tasted like what you'd get at a generic chain restaurant. It was actually quite disappointing for the price and caliber of this place. The plating was awful too, there were few veggies just plopped on the side... it really made it look like a plate I would see at a generic diner for $20. Definitely not worth the $55 we paid for it. Overall just very mediocre and disappointing. I don't think I would want to come back any pay this type of price for the quality of food and service. We went to the Happy Hour offered Monday to Thursday, up to 6pm, and walked in on a Wednesday without a reservation. We seated at a shared high top table. The ambience is inviting. Service is friends. We ordered: Waygu burger and fries $10, a generous serving. Fried calamari $6 Caesar salad served with two long strips of anchovies $14 (regular menu). All the dishes met our needs. The flavour of this Caesar salad really stood out for us, over others we have eaten! Just a note, we waited a while for the food to arrive. My mom picked this restaurant for her birthday dinner. It's located in a shopping plaza so plenty of parking. Tho when busy, you may have to drive around a bit to find a spot. I've been to the location in SJ for lunch, but never this one and never for dinner. It was nice to trying different kinds of a5 wagyu. I've honestly never had it outside of fancy michelin places, so I think the grades are different here? Definitely chewier and not so melt in your mouth. One of our steaks had a giant trail of fat and gristle running thru it. When we pointed it out, they immediately rectified it and prepared us a new steak. I can't recall their corkage policy, but I think it's buy one from their menu, get one comped. I'm pretty sure we had more than one bottle of wine knowing my family. Or knowing me. Lol! Service was great! They even gave us a complimentary birthday dessert sampler with all three desserts on the menu - Chocolate Molten Cake, Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee, Chocolate and Butterscotch Pudding. I always appreciate these types of gestures. Makes the meal feel special. And thinking of the customer is always a plus. A nice steakhouse for a celebration meal. The food and portion sizes here are decent. I ordered the BBQ sandwich that came with a generous portion of fries with a side of Brussel sprouts. It was quite tasty and filling. Service was good. They weren't busy so the wait for food didn't take too long. I had an inKind gift card so I was able to order up without feeling guilty. I'd probably stop in here again. read more

LB Steak has started serving "Wester Ross Salmon" from Scotland. This is a great addition to the menu. Many restaurants know very little about their seafood origin. We had the Wester Salmon with polenta today. It was nicely flavored. We also had the Fancy Toast with salmon. Unfortunately the server led us to believe the eggs were like over easy, so a mis-communication on all parties. Service at LB is normally great but not today. The server asked if we wanted mimosa or alcohol; our response was we didn't drink and drive; server responded in an unprofessional manner. In retrospect, we should have left. read more

We've been back a few more times to LB steak and have had great experiences. Our favorite entree to share is the boneless ribeye, with the sweet Thai chili Brussel sprouts and macaroni and cheese to share. The mashed potatoes and fries are just okay side options- but I have my eye on the lobster bisque for next time. We were so happy to see that their desserts have greatly improved since our first visit. The waitress brought out a complimentary dessert plate with ice cream, creme brûlée, and chocolate lava cake since we were celebrating our newlywed friends that evening. The creme brulee was perfect and the chocolate lava cake had the best texture. 5 stars for our favorite local steakhouse! read more

I made a reservation for a party of five for my fiancé's birthday on a Monday night at 4:15 PM. We were a bit late but we called ahead of time and we are told that they do hold reservations up to 15 minutes past your reservation time. The restaurant was nice and big and can accommodate small to very large parties with long tables in the back of the restaurant along with a well lit room towards the corner. I ordered the Get Away for my drink and we shared a couple Caesar salads and calamari. They do not offer complementary bread, but they do offer it with a charge of $6. My drink was very refreshing and was a good starter drink to my meal to come. I ordered the boneless ribeye cooked medium rare with a side of onion rings and my fiancé ordered the hokaido a5 wagyu (4oz). My ribeye was extremely tender and had a good amount of fat and was cooked perfectly without having it bleed too much around the steak. My entrée also came with some peppers and onions on the side that went very well with each bite. The onion rings were light, not too oily and came with a blue cheese dipping sauce, which I thought was interesting but tasted delicious. My fiancé ordered her steak well done, and it was surprisingly still very flavorful and tender. You can still see part of the marbling despite it being well done. I didn't catch our server name, but he was nice- not very attentive however, but there were other servers around to get us the additional items we needed from time to time. Pricing for their entrées were fair in my opinion and we were charged a 4% gratuity fee for our party at five. The steakhouse is located in the front of the shopping area, so there was a good amount of parking in the front. Overall, I give my experience a 3.8/5. read more
