Actually, 4.5 stars, but I'll round it up to 5. What did I like? I liked their crunchy French toast. I liked the buttery whipped cream. I also tried the shrimp appetizer, and ordered the pork belly for my friend. The pork belly was soggy. Someone should tell them crunchy/crispy skin always trumps soggy skin. It sort of matched the soggy bread that was under the shrimp. We ordered the tomahawk ribeye. Our server made a mistake and ordered the Wagyu. Sort of disappointed, but felt bad about wasting the $140 wagyu so accepted the order. It didn't taste any different than a regular ribeye. We went in the afternoon and told they didn't have bread baskets at brunch. WTF? That's weird. Why 5 stars? Our server, although she made a mistake, was nice. She felt terrible for her error and gave us complimentary Mimosas and dessert. It was also close to closing at that point, and probably a relief for the kitchen to not have to fire up a tomahawk steak at that point...and eat the cost of a $140 steak. So, giving you the crew 5 stars in hopes that this will encourage them to do better next time. I will be back...because I went there to try the tomahawk steak. And the manager made sure he came out introduced himself it was my wife's birthday and it was amazing service Nancy is extremely great at what she does. Went here for happy hour last week with some friends and unfortunately will not be back. When placing our order my friend asked our server how one of the dishes was prepared to which he responded, "it doesn't matter, it's happy hour." We were all stunned at his response, it was incredibly rude and unnecessary. Very much gave us the impression that our business was not valued because we were paying cheaper prices on the happy hour menu. I thought maybe the server was just having a moment but when I asked for more water (my glass was half full but I was about to finish it since I was thirsty) he responded with "do you NEED more water?" Um...YES. That's why I requested it. Furthermore, we each ordered a burger prepared medium--when they came there was not a speck of pink on any of them. We didn't even bother to complain after the "it's happy hour" comment because according to our server's attitude: you get what you get. The Mai Tai's were also disappointing and my friend sent her's back as it just tasted like pure pineapple juice. Definitely will not be back due to such poor service. I hope others beware that if you come here for happy hour you are likely to be treated like a second class citizen. And also, if they can't cook a happy hour burger to specification I don't have much hope with how they are going to make a $100+ steak. So disappointing. read more

Decided to try this place out for my husbands birthday. The reviews and photos of the place and food looked great. The ambiance was wonderful. We had a very nice and informative waitress. I unfortunately forget her name but she was great. We started off with the octopus and ahi tuna tartar appetizers. Those were delicious. We both got a glass of wine and our waitress even allowed tastings to ensure we enjoyed the wine we chose. For our main course, my husband got the $78 12oz thirty five dry aged ribeye, medium rare. I chose the $60 regular 14oz boneless ribeye, also medium rare. Our waitress asked if we also wanted them to bring out the four complimentary sauces that come with the steaks and we said yes. My husband took a bite of his steak first and noticed how bland it was. There seemed to be no seasoning what so ever, not even salt pepper or butter. I thought maybe it was different due to it being dry aged however we've been to many places with dry aged meats and they still season their meats. So I then took a bite of my ribeye, which was charred on most of the outside and rare on the inside, cooked too hot and too fast perhaps? My steak as well had no flavor other than meat. So we dipped our steaks in the sauces and came to the conclusion that must be their motive... no seasoned steaks, but enjoy dipping it in sauces. Now if this weren't such a pricey or "high end" dining experience I wouldn't think much of it. But to have such prices and the steaks not even have the simple salt, pepper, garlic butter pan sear that most have to at least give some flavor to the steak itself was surprising to us. The sauces were alright but the steaks definitely need seasoning to be worth the price we paid. For our sides, we chose the fried cauliflower and mashed potatoes. The cauliflower was alright, it had a "lime tahini and pomegranate gel" drizzled on top, which threw us off with the flavor. The mashed potatoes came out cold as if they were sitting there for the next person to order it but wasn't waiting under the heat lamp at the least. We ended the meal off with a complimentary chocolate molten lava cake for his birthday which was delicious, as well as a cup of coffee and a desert wine that our waitress recommended. Our waitress made us an americano as the drip coffee was still being made. That americano was delicious! And so was the dessert wine which was the dolce late harvest souvingon/semillon. All in all, we racked up a bill with appetizers, steaks, side dishes and drinks. However with the steaks being the main course of the night not being up to par with our expectation coming from such a higher end restaurant, we don't think we got what we paid for and more than likely will not be coming back. I ordered Waygu steak with a few sides and I don't think I could ever go back to a regular cut. The marble was beautiful and it literally melted in my mouth. This is a great LB Steak location and might be the biggest by far due to its lounge outdoor seating and indoor lounge included. Their employees are friendly and quick on their feet. I enjoyed my 8oz filet mignon and also thought the addition of a shishito pepper & red pepper was unique. My wife's salmon was tender and went well with the sautéed vegetables. We didn't really enjoy the bone marrow. There wasn't enough meat or fat on the bones; it almost tasted like sweet olive only. Their truffle fries were decent; not enough truffle oil and Parmesan. The complimentary bread is always good BUT the servers don't walk around with a bread basket anymore.. it's pre-made with focaccia & olive loaf. I'd come back again for sure! read more

Stopped in for lunch after checking out the Farmer's Market at Bishop Ranch. The wife had been craving steak all morning so we figured this was the best place in the area to satisfy her. We were seated pretty quickly as walk-ins. The service was adequate, but maybe a little odd, I would say. The server seemed to be stretched pretty thin with the tables she was working and I'm not sure the POS system she was using was helping her very much. I get digital is the future, but without proper training, this just leads to awkward interactions. The manager seemed to be lending a hand and he was nice. The food also came out pretty quick so that was good. Now for the food: my wife and I ordered the boneless rib eye and eggs (also came with tater tots) and broccolini. My wife also got the English garden soda. The soda was good but kind of one note (I didn't get any of the botanicals listed on the menu). The broccolini was great. The steak and eggs leaves me a bit torn. First off, for a steakhouse, I think tater tots is an odd choice of potato side dish. Why not just do something a bit more sophisticated like ranch potatoes? I requested the eggs cooked soft scrambled but received definitely hard scrambled eggs so not sure that's an actual option at this place. Now for the steak itself, while it didn't taste bad, I didn't like the fact that 1. The steak was fairly thin so it was harder for them to achieve the doneness I asked for and 2. Something about the way the steak was cooked (the char grilling maybe?) gave it a weird taste at first. At this point, I would still have given this place a generous round up to 4 stars...but...we decided to order dessert. We ordered creme brulee and, yikes, that wasn't what we were expecting. The creme itself didn't taste like anything and was warm, almost curdled at the top. The brulee itself was...spotty...and too thin. It seemed like they didn't have an appropriate heat source to make it. We couldn't even finish the dessert and finished the meal pretty disappointed. would I come back? We have been going to LB Steak in San Ramon since they opened primarily because of the outstanding service from Lenny. Lenny is hard working, customer focused and a master at knowing how to anticipate what his customers need and always go out of his way to make sure his customers are taken care of. We have been bringing all our friends and families there regularly because we want them to enjoy the same outstanding service we always get from Lenny. Honestly food is ok lately and are on the expensive side. We are shocked to learn today that Lenny is no longer with LB so we will not be coming back. We are so bummed! Had a great last minute anniversary lunch here. Definitely spent more than we usually do but that was justified by the good food and great service! Our server was polite and accommodating during our entire visit. She made sure to place our orders in a timely manner and made sure to check on us. They have a no questions asked policy for outdoor seating along with heat lamps which are STRONG. This is a great option for those who can't sit indoors due to health concerns or for those who enjoy the festivities happening outside! Everyone loved the tomahawk, it's a great statement dish and appeals to bypassers (many astonished wanting to try!) all the meat plates were delicious and filling. I personally loved the salt pairings provided. The sides and appetizers were quite disappointing for the whole table being how small they were and being called "family size." Don't get me wrong, it was all delicious but everyone was a bit shocked. They do load up on any potato derived sides/apps. With half the table being oyster lovers, these were also insanely small! In the future I would stick with the meat and pass on any sides or appetizers. For birthday, they gave a chocolate molten cake with a candle and wish you a hbd, which was a delight. We've had nothing but positive experiences during our multiple visits. However our visit today solidified our sentiments on LB. We were greeted by friendly faces as we've been in the past. There was a slight issue with our food & Kendra the manager stepped in and proved to us that they truly care about a relationship with patrons & we were more than just another "customer". My friend had his birthday dinner here and it was a nice spot for both intimate and group dinners. We had a table for 8 at 6pm and were seated even though the whole party was not there yet. We got appetizers for the table that included the fritto misto, burrata, and the pork belly. I liked the fritto misto a lot, there was a tangy and herbaceous sauce to go with the perfectly fried shrimp and calamari. The burrata went well with the bread and some sort of tomato reduction it came with. I didn't get to try the pork belly but most of the table liked it. I ordered the lobster bisque, salmon, and mac and cheese to share with my bf. The bisque was really seafoody and rich, with a couple pieces of lobster in it, but I'm not sure I would get it again for $18. The salmon was pretty dry and overcooked, but the corn salad it came with was delicious. The mac and cheese was creamy, if a bit under-seasoned. I'd say this is one of the better mac and cheese's I've gotten as a side since the noodles were not overcooked and the creamy cheese sauce was the perfect consistency for me. I also tried some of my friend's scallop dish and it was cooked perfectly. Probably my favorite bite of the evening since it had the perfect crust on the outside and was seasoned well. It also came with a potato gratin rectangle on the side that was perfectly crispy on the outside. We ordered the crème brulee for dessert which was so good to end the meal with. They also brought out a free lava cake with ice cream for our friend's birthday which was a nice touch. The service was great, our server was so friendly and accommodating. It's definitely on the pricey side, but I enjoyed the ambiance, company, and service enough to recommend this spot! read more

A classy steakhouse with a killer filet mignon. Although the taste of the cocktails weren't as balanced as we hoped (maybe best to stick to the wine) all of the food we tried was consistently great. We had a really pleasant weeknight birthday dinner here. PROS: - free parking - self-serve reservations via Opentable (we made same-day reservations) - friendly staff - very accommodating, we had to push our res from 6:30 to 6:45 due to some traffic but they were super kind about it when we called. TIP: - if you don't request booth seating, they may seat you at middle tables which are pretty awkward and loud. Would feel much cozier if they built out a divider block with booths along the side. Onto the food and drinks! TUSCAN SPRITZ (3/5) This is one of the less sweet aperol spritz's I've had. It's a beautiful drink, has a heavy hand on the rosé, but there was definitely more to be desired flavor wise. PINK PEPPERCORN (2/5) On the contrary, this was super sweet and could pass for Mike's Hard Lemonade. It was very off putting that on the first sip, the drink was room temperature (which tells me it probably wasn't prepared shaken in an ice shaker) Definitely pass. OLD FASHIONED (3/5) The ice is embellished with the LB Steak logo, and as impressive as it was, the old fashioned itself was on the verrry sweet and syrupy side. I'd want to try the Barrel Aged OF next time. AHI TARTARE (5/5) Excellent! The uncommon addition of strawberry bits was so unique and worked beautifully with the avocado and ahi. The char from the sourdough is very pronounced yet somehow works with the delicate flavors of the tartare. Highly recommend. SAUTÉED GULF PRAWNS (5/5) 6 x pieces of juicy, perfectly cooked prawns. The sauce wasn't noticeable, but I didn't mind that the shrimp was the star of the show. FILET MIGNON 8OZ (5/5) Perfectly seasoned, slight char on the outside, and beautifully medium rare. Definitely recommend getting a side of you plan to split the entree like we did (allowed us to try more dishes). The sauces were good too, our fav was the dark red (wine?) sauce and the blue cheese sauce. SIDE OF MUSHROOMS (5/5) I couldn't stop eating these. We loved how the assortment of mushrooms create different flavors and textures. Oyster mushrooms all the way. My only feedback is that it was really heavy on the butter - big layer of it at the bottom of the dish. BIRTHDAY GOODIES Chocolate lava "pudding" filled cake with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. Chocolate desserts are the perfect ending to a steak meal. You would think that a steakhouse would make a delicious hamburger - Ruth Kris and Flemings do this really well- but LB's hamburger lacks any flavor/seasoning. Super bland! It's big but super bland. I want to walk away from a steakhouse's happy hour, bragging about the deal on a good burger. Ya can't do that after leaving this happy hour. The rest of the happy hour menu is pretty decent... damn! I wish that burger was good!!!!! Bottom line - The food is pretty good if going for dinner. My husband and I recently visited LB Steak for my recent birthday. The food was very good and matches the ambiance and esthetic provided by the restaurant. It was great. What too me aback and will add to retention and return of customers was the best customer service experience that I had that night. This exemplary service only enhance what LB Steaks food could ever offer. The number one thing that LB Steak does right, believe it or not, it's not the steak (which was wonderful)...It's the customer service! Our server Mario went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Mario, made sure we had everything that we needed and was very personable. The same goes for staff member Luis! Luis continued to check-in on us and made sure we were comfortable as well. Luis and Mario's attention to detail, easy going manner, and outstanding work ethic is what will keep me coming back to the restaurant; simply second to none.
