Wow, haven't been here in over 20 years. Super expensive, but worth the splurge. 3 of us on a Saturday night, one is a vegetarian. Beautifully spacious spaces, with impeccable service. From the front desk to the waitstaff, we were well taken care of. Marco was our server and the sommelier was very helpful. We went crazy and had the tasting menu. Le Bernardin delivers on all of its promises. The establishment is not overly stuffy or pretentious despite the business casual dress code and esteemed reputation. Service is warm and friendly but very sharp. For example, a member of the staff was already pulling the table to make room for my wife to slide into her seat before I even realized she was returning from the restroom. We opted for the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The execution of each dish was just perfect. This is with the understanding that the offerings here are very classic in terms of flavor combinations and technique. I think if the tasting menu featured Uni or Oyster this could have added the missing bit of flair but there was enough to love about the dishes presented. One dish was a standout specifically - the tuna carpaccio (pounded tuna over fois gras mousse crostini). We actually substituted it in for the hamachi at the suggestion of our waiter and I am so glad that we did. It was one of the best individual dishes I have had in my life. I also want to compliment the generous portion of the best caviar I have personally tasted that adorned the salmon in horseradish sauce. The wine pairing did a good job mixing practical and adventurous but I would go for a white wine by the glass for future visits (some of the later wines were interesting to taste but I did not finish the serving). Very disappointed. Arrived at Le Bernardin at 8:45pm Friday for dinner in the lounge. While busy, they were not full -- they had two open tables. However they refused them to us, the matre'd directing us to the bar, "as you can see we are very busy" In a very condescending tone. We were there for a few minutes, figuring those tables were committed to other couples, but no one showed. The bar tender went over to the matre'd to see what the problem was. After waiting a few more minutes we decided that we're not going to sit at the bar for a $1,000 dinner. The matre'd made excuses about how he needed the tables for a group that had reservations in the dining room whose table was not ready. And again said "as you can see we are very busy." The Lounge is first come first served. They don't accept reservations for the Lounge. I guess they feel that Lounge diners are second class citizens, and if they over book the dining room they will use the Lounge for over flow -- like an airline bumping passengers. Pathetic. We have been dining at Le Bernardin for close to twenty years and had always been treated with respect and hospitality -- until that night. It was always the last hurrah for our visits to NYC -- this occasion no different, as we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Indeed I reached out to the restaurant through their website to voice my displeasure and received no response. Things change. Oh well, there are plenty of great restaurants in NYC. I've heard from more than one source before visiting this place that no one does fish like Eric Ripert. And after my visit to Le Bernardin (albeit years prior to writing this), there was nothing I noticed for me to think any different. As I mentioned above, my actual visit was years ago, so this is out of nostalgia and for posterity reasons. So the process of being able to dine there and making reservations may be different. I was in the New York area for work and at the time - I didn't even have reservations - I don't think. I came in on a week night and asked to sit at the bar and experience the 9 course tasting menu. I sat next to a fellow traveler who had the same thing in mind. The room/ bar was elegant and the service was top notch. I'm not gonna go through each to the nine courses, but I was thoroughly impressed by each and everyone. I had such a great and memorable dining experience there that night. If I could experience her tasting menu now I would, but it would definitely have to be for a special occasion and of course, I would have to be in the New York area. read more

The food was nothing to write home about, it was mostly served with a shallow broth. The broth was exceptional, but the execution on its service was sloppy which tainted most of the experience. The service overall was that of just a notch above Olive Garden, with one caveat, the sommelier was the most knowledgeable and provided the best service. We did the tasting menu, my wife paired it with the wine. I wished the sommelier could have been with us for all aspects of the meal. Fantastic special occasion restaurant! We opted for the 4 course menu and loved it. The Food If you want to choose from each category, go for the 4 course. If you don't want to think and take the chefs recommendations, go for the eight course. We did feel satisfied after the 4 courses. In addition to the menu items, bread service is offered for each course (yes please), there's an amuse bouche and there's a selection of chocolates after dessert. The Wine We were able to be flexible with pairing different wines by the glass which really sold us on going that direction. Apparently the 8 course pairing comes out to almost one bottle of wine per person (this felt a little much for me, but my husband's eyes did light up after hearing that). We tried a few different whites and a Pinot noir with the lobster. The Service The food is all of course excellent but it's the service that stands out the most. Despite the price tag and notoriety, the staff makes you feel welcome and goes above and beyond. Their recommendations and wine pairings were fabulous. We did the 4 course pre fix and it was phenomenal. I started with the crab salad, followed by the red lobster and the red snapper. For dessert, I had the peanut themed. It was like a mini ice cream cone with peanut toppings. The Somalia offered excellent choices, and the service was top-tier. To end the night on a high note, they dropped off 4 tiny treats. My mom and I have an annual mother-daughter holiday trip to NYC. One of the must is the Radio City for Rockettes...and now Le Bernardin is the must for pre-show! This was the first time I was able to get a reservation in the dining room! For lunch. We arrived in NY in the morning. We had tickets to backstage tour for radio city around 3:30. So getting a lunch reservation at Le Bernardin was perfect! I feel awful for not remembering the name of the gent who hosted us. But he was so kind and made my 73-year old mother feel so special. There is a reason why this restaurant deserves the accolades. The service here is professional, on point and...honestly...the service comes off as genuine. The food...I appreciate good food. I think Le Bernardin is still one of the best. Service is lovely without feeling scary formal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and even though formal, somehow remains so warm and welcoming. We went for the lunch pre-fix but also added à la carte items because I still want to try everything. Every dish is so thoughtful. My mom said that she wished she could eat more. FYI...you will not be hungry after this tasting menu! Also the bread...OMG. I try not to indulge because I know how filling the courses will be! But so good...definitely try the bread! I've been to 3 star Michelin restaurants plenty of times and have almost 2 decades of experience in the service industry, which is both a blessing and a curse, because I notice EVERYTHING. Plus, for this price point, I expect perfection. The few weird things: I came in behind another couple, so the host assumed I was with them and didn't greet me. Even though I was still standing there in front of the host stand waiting for them to acknowledge me after the couple in front of me stepped aside to check their coats. The host actually leaned to the side to greet the people behind me as I was standing there looking at them. After I spoke up they apologized, but strange first impression. Also the service was off to a rocky start. I looked around for a place to put my purse and couldn't find one, nor did any of the multiple servers notice me looking around. Then I learned two of the guests at our table were given a stool for their bag and I wasn't, so I draped it awkwardly along the side of my chair. Then a server came over to walk us through the menu and immediately launched into a description of the a la carte menu, then waited for our questions. Only when I asked him if the chef's tasting menu was available did he acknowledge it, which was strange to me - not only because it's the more expensive option - but isn't that the entire point of coming here?! Not a great sales strategy in my opinion. After that, the wheels seemed to grease up and everything was seamless. Course after course came out and the vast majority of them blew me away. I was so excited to try the work of Chef Eric Ripert! Le Bernardin is a NY institution, and I decided to splurge for a fancy dinner. Wow, every thing was immaculate. Service was spectacular and attentive. The prix fixe menu had so many choices. The amuse bouche had three components, and our favorite was the delicate oyster. I ordered the poached lobster, which was cooked to perfection. The sea bass entree was delicious. The most interesting dish was this pounded tuna into an ellipse shape, with foie gras in the center with a crostini. Unlike anything I've ever had before. This meal wasn't just good food, it was like art and I'm so happy I had the chance to try it. On a recent trip to NYC my wife and I were privileged to visit Le Bernardin and boy did it live up to the hype. I would 100% agree with the reviews that indicated that Le Bernardin puts out perfectly flawless seafood dishes, whether raw, lightly cooked, or fully cooked. We each had the 8 course tasting menu. Each savory course was paired with a sauce that was tasty and very complimentary to the seafood presented. Service was also knowledgeable and attentive. The perfect balance of being available but allowing you to enjoy the luxurious meal with your dining companion. The wine pairings were also spot on, and the space was perfect for a 3 Michelin star meal. My favorite dishes were the Lobster, the Halibut, and the Hiramasu. There were no misses at all. While I don't go to these types of restaurants because of the dessert courses, both of the ones presented on this menu were excellent. My favorite of the two was the Peruvian Dark Chocolate one. The Le Bernardin atmosphere feels like you're stepping back into a fancy 90s NYC restaurant with the carpet floor and leather seating, but the food has still stayed modern and relevant. All the dishes had great flavor, maybe a few lacking some salt, but the uniqueness came through with each one. Salmon and lobster as buttery and tender as anything you'll have, each broth with deep flavors that compliment the dishes nicely and the accoutrements that are perfectly placed on each dish for a wholesome bite. 4 years ago, I had my first 3 Michelin star meal here and was blown away by how delicious and extravagant the experience was. This year, I finally returned and I took my partner here for their birthday and was so excited to share my joy with them. While I've tried other fine dining spots and Michelin spots, I think this spot is wonderful for traditional French techniques and doing seafood perfectly. This spot has changed a bit but also remained the same in many ways. I'll start with the not so great things to just get them out of the way. First off, it seems that their fish portions have gotten smaller, especially their famous tuna dish (photos included for comparison). I was grateful to have a comfy table by the couch but I wish there was a divider separating the walking area from the couch. This is not to be mean either, but our orders did get messed up at one point with another table, and everything worked out fine but I did expect more from a 3 michelin fine dining restaurant. Mistakes happen and we're all human after all, I was just surprised but I'm glad they handled it well and smoothly. I saw that they made sure the other table received the correct dish, and they took ours back and prepared new plates for both my table and the other taPerhaps I am not as knowledgeable or experienced, but it does feel a bit more cold and rigid here compared to other places. I assume that's just how it is here but nevertheless, they know how to serve fish. Another great thing is that I think they've gotten a bit more creative in flavors. I especially loved the dover sole because it tasted of char but the fish looked absolutely elegant and not grilled at all. It was a wonderful flavor and texture to have and it was amazingly deceiving. The lobster and salmon-caviar dishes were my top bites as well and all I can say is that they were perfectly executed in ways I could not describe. It was like the perfect bites in my mouth. I felt that this menu had a lot of Japanese flavors which I enjoyed. I thought it was interesting as the Japanese have a deep and rich culture/history on fish and highlighting food's natural flavors. Or maybe I am thinking too deeply into it. Lastly, perhaps one of my favorite observations I've noticed - their desserts are not too sweet! My first time here, I did not care for the desserts as the chocolates were just too rich and overwhelming. This time, they had this delicious pear dessert and I wanted 100 more plates of them. I thought it was fun, which I didn't expect since this restaurant seems to be more rigid and traditional. Their chocolate was also absolutely delicious and the little chocolate mold was gorgeous and so fun to eat. I'd love to see more creativity like this here! We dined at Le Bernadin for dinner as a group of 7 on May 20th, 2025 for my graduation party. The quality of the food and overall presentation were outstanding. The restaurant had a romantic ambience; you know immediately that you're walking into a fine-dining establishment. Every piece of seafood that I tried absolutely melted in my mouth and the plating of each course was clean, intentional, and thoughtfully curated. The reason that I don't give Le Bernardin a 5-star review is because, for a 3 Michelin-starred restaurant, the service did not reflect the elevated standard we anticipated--especially for such a significant occasion. We dined as a party of seven for my graduation celebration and all opted for the Four Course Prix-Fixe. Of course, Le Bernardin is a storied institution that will never struggle to fill its tables--but that does not excuse treating guests without distinction. Very difficult to get a reservation but after years of thinking about this restaurant I finally got a chance to try it out for myself. At first I was skeptical because many people say this restaurant is not as great as it seems. Their specialty is seafood and I noticed is that most of their dishes are focused on the freshness and the flavors of the ocean. The lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops were all incredible. The biggest highlight is when they walk around with the bread basket - I've never had such flavorful focaccia in my life. One thing I would say that probably was not worth the extra price was the dover sole. The presentation did not look very appetizing and the sweetness of the dish was a little off putting as it was the main entree. Otherwise every other dish was cooked (or barely cooked) to perfection and I tasted so many flavors that I would have never imagined. read more

First things first: food and drink were all delicious and I had a wonderful time here for dinner on a Thursday evening. We decided to go with the four course prixe fixe menu, but the amount of food was on the lighter side compared to similar places in my opinion. I wasn't starving at the end, but I wasn't as satisfied as I was expecting, especially for the price and 3-star status of the establishment. Service was very sharp and attentive, though some of the staff did have a shorter air about them. Not necessarily a knock, but it does add to the old-school formal business-y atmosphere that I found interesting. There's definitely a unique vibe, and depending on what you're looking for you may either really enjoy it or dislike it; your mileage may vary. As someone visiting from out of town I enjoyed it. It felt like a part of New York City that's older and you can only get in certain places today. For example, there was basically nobody without a suit jacket on--I haven't seen such adherence to a dress code in today's world anywhere else and in that way it was impressive--and it felt like almost everyone was there for some sort of business thing vs special celebrations like birthdays or anniversaries. The interior design is also a bit old school feeling, which I was into, but some may feel it "needs an update" though I'm not sure I agree. There was something special about it. I dined at the Lounge, in the room next to the dining room but right next to it. I was excited to try a taste of Eric Ripert's food but in a more casual, quicker and cheaper fashion. We walked in thinking there was no dress code in the lounge but there was, jackets were provided. We went on a Wednesday for lunch and it was pretty empty but the dining room seemed full. The service was attentive but serious with a speeded up feel. It was also very quiet but the dining room seemed louder. I ordered the Black Truffle Lobster Roll and the classic Tuna Carpaccio. Both were good but nothing mind blowing. Thankfully, there was a bread service that came around twice. After paying, I noticed my water wasn't refilled. Out of all my reservations, I was most excited by this one but also most disappointed. As another reviewer stated, the meal was "bland, boring and forgettable". For such a highly rated and pricey meal, I was expecting to like at least half of the dishes for the Chef's Tasting but alas, that wasn't the case. I have an affinity for French food because it takes tremendous skills to create beautiful sauces. However, all of the sauces in each of the courses tasted off. For example, the sauce for the salmon would've been fine except the chef decided to add horseradish to it which overpowered everything. In addition, the menu was seafood centric which I normally love but there was an overall lack of texture for everything. The seared shrimp was super mushy and quite frankly, did not taste fresh while none of the fishes came with a crispy skin. Service was ok and the noise level was pretty loud. Only giving 5 stars for one reason: the salmon. My god. More than the sum of its parts is an understatement. Everything on that plate was perfectly cooked (that's going to be a given here) but the horseradish took everything to the next level. When the "worst" element of that plate is Royal Ossetra caviar you know you've got a winner. This dish rivals anything else on the planet, the type of food I wanted when I saw all the acclaim, not to mention the $350 tasting menu price tag. The other high point: the dessert courses and petit fours. Plenty of sweets, which may be a demerit to some but not for me. The excellent cocktails and wine list did enough damage by this point in the night that it is hard to give more detail here: but these desserts are one-thousand percent worth devouring multiple times if someone in your party makes the mistake of not being up for their plate. I wish the other courses were as good, but they were not. Everything on the menu is Michelin-quality from the ingredients alone. But there isn't enough flavor in the rest of the menu for me to wholeheartedly encourage dropping $350 + tip + wine here, especially if you cannot easily afford it. The flavors on offer were not bad, they just were not leaned on enough. The broth with the lobster, The foie gras with the tuna, and the Soy-lime emulsion with the Dover sole were all solid, but felt tapered off to never risk overpowering the main ingredients on hand. Everyone's palette is different: but mine would be slightly tempted to prefer the flavor profile of the halal cart two blocks down the street than some of what is on offer here (especially for a fortieth of the price). Well, this experience was not what I expected. I have been wanting to come here for years and finally got a reservation to celebrate my birthday with my parents. The meal ended with an allergic reaction. A THREE Michelin star restaurant served me nuts, when I specifically told them I was allergic. How do you have one of the highest culinary achievements and mess up something so simple? To make things worse, when I asked if the dish had nuts, I was told "yes" and then I responded "I'm allergic to nuts" and then the staff member said "well did you tell your server?". They also served my father his allergen right before, so you would think allergies would be at the forefront of their mind. I then had to leave to go get medicine, and my mother said she had to waive someone down to get any attention after the incident. no one came over immediately to apologize. She had to ask to speak with someone after they basically poisoned me. This is the most unprofessional thing I have experienced, and I cannot believe this place has 3 Michelin stars. I'm disgusted with how we were treated especially after THEY made a mistake. The food was also FINE. The bread was served cold - this seems like a basic fix. The fish was steamed with no flavor really, the dependency is on the sauce, which was lackluster. The branzino was stringy. Stringy fish - ew. Overall, I was SO DISAPPOINTED. I was disappointed in the food and the service. This place does not deserve 3 Michelin stars nor is worth the price. read more

Sat near Woody Allen which was nice but the food that night was pas à la hauteur. I had the fish which was so overly salted, another at my table could not eat hers as well. This was a business dinner so neither of us could ask the waiter to remove our plates! The only good thing I can say about this extraordinarily over priced place was, the lighting was nice. read more

This is our all time favorite in the city. While many 3 stars restaurants can't keep their stars or just 100% zero out, Le Bernardin remains! This place has become our celebration tradition. Classy, elegant, you will enjoy full menu regardless how many times you dine here. Special callout that the BABA dessert this season was amazing! Must order while you still can!! I would consider this is a healthiest 3 Michelin stars restaurant in the city. A place after eating a big meal, you will not feel guilty of your calories intake! Service was alway excellent! While they pay attention of all you need, as well as keeping a quiet, classy, enjoyable dinner environment for all diners. There's a reason it's so highly respected. They nailed every aspect of the meal. The food - We have the tasting menu (fish not vegetarian ) there are other options other than that where you can pick a la carte. every course was better than the last and they were all unique, delicious, fresh and Exciting ! The wine was perfectly paired and one bottle better than the last (They shared the wine list with me along with the menu at the end of the meal) The bread was freshly made, delicious, and served with cool (not cold, not mushy) butter The dessert was chocolate lava cake followed by a dessert of little dessert amuse bouche treats... Ambience is lovely and calming. It's not noisy, there's no blaring music in the background. It's just great. Services provided by knowledgeable and capable waiters and supporters. Beautiful, exceptional experience. My first 3 Michelin star restaurant experience was here at 5 pm on a Monday. Very hard to get a reservation. We arrived around 4:50 and got seated promptly. They have a pretty strict dress code so dress accordingly. The servers were all so knowledgeable and kind. The 4 of us opted for the 8 course tasting menu, which is about $100 more than the 4 course pre fixe menu. Before every course, they give you a new set of silverware (fork, knife, spoon) depending on what food you are going to be served. They always serve ladies first as courtesy, and tell you all the details of what you will be eating. They also have a bread basket with a small baguette, focaccia, raisin bread, and brioche that goes around the restaurant and comes to you every other course or so. The baguette and focaccia were pretty good, but the butter was so delicious and addicting! Couldn't stop eating. My favorite dish was definitely the salmon with caviar. It was cooked raw, with beets and this amazing sauce underneath. The other dishes were all unique, flavorful, and plated very beautifully. Surprisingly, although it doesn't look like it in the picture, they serve you quite decent portions of fish for each course, making me definitely full at the end of the meal. I also loved the first pre-course dish with three different fish options. That was so so good, even better than most of the main course dishes. Overall, most of the dishes were on the saltier side, making me have to drink so much water after every other bite. Very strong flavors, but I guess that's why they only give you small pieces at a time. The last dessert course was spectacular: salty from the ice cream, crunchy, and warm and melty from the chocolate interior. Great way to end a meal. Overall, all of the dishes were beautiful, had a unique taste, and the fish was very tender. This was truly a great experience. read more

I waited this long so I was going to do it right and I went with the tasting menu. While everything was executed perfectly and was delicious, I really wish there had been a variety of protein and not all seafood. Honestly this was such a beautiful experience. Not a single thing was off. Everything was amazing from service, decor, drinks and especially the food. My girlfriend and I came here during a vacation trip to NY and I'm so glad we made a reservation here. I got their 3 course Chef-Tasting meal with Tuna w/ Foie Gras as the Barely Raw, Lobster for Barely Touched, and Black Bass for Lightly Cooked. The Tuna was probably my favorite dish out of all, followed very closely by the Black Bass. The lightness and freshness of the thinly pounded tuna was incredible and paired well with the creaminess of the foie gras to make a bite that is both refreshing and heavy (in a good way). The seared Black Bass was extremely tender and I love the sauce and the charred veggie pinwheels really made the whole dish pop out. I could've eaten a whole plate of just those pinwheels and I don't usually care for vegetables. The Lobster was third for me not because it wasn't great, it just got overshadowed by the other dishes in my opinion. The lobster was extremely fresh and I love how they don't do too much to it to take away from the natural sweetness of the meat. The sauce and kumquats complimented well with their citrus and acidity to really put the spotlight on the lobster. I'm not usually one to rave about "fancy" restaurants because most of the time they end up m being extremely overpriced experience with decent or good but not AMAZING food. However Le Bernardin absolutely blew me away. It is on the pricier end of the spectrum but so worth it. The ingredients were so fresh and beautifully crafted with no errors. I loved every second and every bite. The dishes literally felt like art and the chefs were the artists, I don't know how else to explain the feeling. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone whom wants an actual dinner experience to feel like an art experience. It was worth every penny spent here.
