I'm not vegan let alone vegetarian, but I always wanted to try this place! So glad I did especially when it's chilly because it was tasty and warmed my soul. The staff was so helpful and friendly, offering samples of anything because I was unsure of what to order. I got the chili sin carne, and the coconut sour cream was the highlight for me. I especially like how there are so many pre-configurations, so you don't have to guess what tastes good together. Mezze: Re-reading the description, they totally forgot my gluten-free crackers. That totally affected my experience, because it felt odd just eating the spreads with a fork. I really like the veggie balls, they were falafel-like. The noodle-like things had a weird texture. Tibetan Mama: So delicious! Loved the dominant flavor of coconut curry and slight kick. Nice thick texture. The veggies we amply covered in that thick curry. I walked all the way to Le Botaniste to get one of the items replaced and then went home and found black curly hair again. I've walked past Le Botaniste plenty of times, but never actually had a good idea of what this food concept was. The interior has plenty of seating and it's a more fast casual place where you order at the counter. There's plenty of items on the menu as well as the option to make your own bowl. The staff was nice to allow my group to sample a few of the stews before committing, and that was quite helpful as it was difficult to choose. I chose the peanut curry which had a rich coconut milk based broth with chickpeas and some other veg. I asked if I could do half and half of the stews but that unfortunately wasn't possible. From there, there's the option to pick three additional toppings, but I really had a hard time narrowing down. There's options from a variety of hummus flavors to tofu to pickled onions. I ended up selected a few options that didn't necessarily compliment the flavor profile of my curry, but it was hard to pass up the opportunity to try a coconut ceviche. The toppings also didn't feel equally weighted, not sure microgreens and tofu are in the same category. The meal was overall flavorful and filling, my non-vegan friends enjoyed their food equally as much. It is a very earthy place; there are some interesting vegan/raw dessert options at the counter. Great spot for a warm, healthy meal - just wish there was a bit more flexibility in making the bowls. read more

Stumbled upon here while walking with my friend, we were looking for a healthy place to eat and the food smelled so good when we walked by! i enjoyed my meal! It was large and $16. I got the bolognese which tasted as comforting and rich as one with meat. I didn't miss that meat wasn't there and I actually liked it better. I also appreciated the variety of texture, there were crunchy pumpkin seeds in it and the quinoa pasta was Al dente. It also didn't taste like quinoa! It tasted like regular flour pasta. The place has plenty of tables, and two bathrooms in the back. You choose what you want and pay at the front and then pick a table. Staff were helpful and kind. It was the icing on the cake for me deciding to eat here over somewhere else! They also offered a taste test of the new specials which I hadn't experienced at other locations. The Saag, which I tested, was really good just mushy likely from the eggplant in it (I'm texture sensitive). Le Botaniste definitely has an intersecting selection of plant based food. I had a seasonal special called Saag Bota that included curry chickpea hummus, sweet potato's, rice, Ayurvedic cracker etc. it was very good. I thought the restaurant has table service but it appears you go up and place your order and they make it for you right there. They have a small selection of desserts and drinks too. There's a decent amount of seating throughout the restaurant. They also have a bathroom for customer use. Prices are average to high depending on what you get. The staff is as available to answer questions when you are browsing the menu. Overall, not bad! I'd go back to try something else. read more

I typically don't review chains, but we had fantastic customer service at this Le Botaniste location, so I wanted to share the appreciation! The space has a nice, modern feel, and there is a decent amount of seating. There is a water bottle on each table for customers who are dining in. Le Botaniste has your typical plant-based menu with the higher prices associated with other health food chains in the city. Kimari recommended the seasonal Mediterranean Salad bowl, and let us sample a few of the components, so I ended up getting that ($15.50) and my friend got the Tibetan Mama ($15.50). Size-wise, my bowl definitely felt like more bang for your buck, and if you eat smaller meals, you could definitely split it in half and feel full. My friend still felt hungry after finishing the Tibetan Mama. Le Botaniste makes veggies tasty, and we enjoy their food! One small note is that the Mediterranean bowl comes with a tumeric sauce. If you're sensitive to that flavor, then request for them to go easy on it, because it can be overpowering. Kimari did an amazing job selling me on the Mediterranean bowl, and really knew the menu inside and out! I appreciated that he approached it by highlighting the ingredients instead of just pushing the fact that it was seasonal. He also let me sample the tumeric sauce before I went for it, to make sure I would be happy with the taste. Then, as we were eating, the manager came out and also checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay! It was only fair that we agree to come here after dragging our friends (that are practicing vegan) to a couple places they would normally never ever go. True love devotion on their part. Does it help to know the vittles are 100% plant based and 99% organic? The weather was nice so we ate outside. We really lucked out with our timing. No seating problems. Good since they don't do reservations. I was very surprised to taste so many tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes. It's true anyone can eat here and find goodness. Good food, cold service. It was our second time at Le Botaniste, and I felt noticeable differences between this location and the one near Grand Central Station. I really liked the fact that this location feels very open with a wall that opens to the outside and some outdoor seating. Interestingly, there was not water at every table - it was kind of unclear where to even ask for it. The food, especially the coconut curry with various toppings, was equally delicious to what I had remembered. However, I was a bit surprised by the cold and somewhat unwelcoming service. We did a "make your own bowl" option, where you choose a base, a sauce, and 4 toppings. There are a lot of options to choose from, and we had some questions about what was an additional cost (this is not indicated on the signs near the items, only on the order list/menu). The server didn't mention that avocado was an extra cost even though she did do so for many other items, leading me to believe it was included (it was not). When we took an extra few seconds to decide on a topping, or server just put down our bowl and walked away to serve the next customer in line without saying a word. This felt a tad disrespectful - it didn't create a good feeling right as we were about to pay for and enjoy our meal. I did like the food, but considering the variety of options available in New York, and especially the service at other locations, I would expect more customer-centricity, especially when the restaurant is not busy! read more

Yummy!!!! I was in town for a conference and starving for lunch, this place was a 5min walk and I enjoy vegan food so decided to try it out. I ordered the pasta bolo, a chocolate chia pudding and herbal tea. Oh my goodness, it was all so delicious.
