We chose this spot mainly for the food and esthetics after viewing it on social media. Can honestly say we came with certain expectations only to feel betrayed. The food was okay, nothing that we could have not gotten in neighboring establishments. The French onion soup was uninteresting. The crab cakes were promising. The cocktail presentation was beautiful but lack the quality of its appearance. There was no Happy Hour as mentioned on this app. Happy Hour (which was the reason why we came) was only offered inside in another restaurant not in the beautiful scenic view. Waitstaff was a bit aggressive and we had to stop other waiters to even get our drinks. We watched and observed them dance around us and it was only when we approached the hostess if she can send us our ticket that our waitress return only to reprimand us that they were having computer problems and they had been there since the morning. It's such a beautiful place but honestly not willing to return. I'll pass thank you. I can get a better cocktail and less attitude elsewhere. read more

Relaxed French restaurant, comfortable to sit outside , the ingredients are fresh, the meals are delicious, and the environment is also very good. recommend their Duck A L'orange (medium). Paella for 2 people is also very fragrant, the cooked rice is just right, the seafood is very fresh, and it is a little bit spicy . Escargots are very tender, but it's better to bake a little longer and a little more salty . Food and ambiance was great. Our server, Abu, however made the night a laughably unpleasant evening. Upon hearing our order he laughed at us and then brought our drink order out incorrectly. When he did this he did not apologize but just looked at me strangely and then corrected the order. Then when we asked for a check he gave us a menu. What a shame. The food is nice, the waiters are pleasant, the location is wonderful. This used to be a pretty, relaxing place to sit in the afternoon or evening and watch the sunset and enjoy a nice meal , but someone decided to play loud music all the time that precludes quiet conversation and a peaceful atmosphere. just had my 67th birthday dinner at Liberty Bistro tonight with three family members. always wanted to try this place as we usually go for celebrations at PJ Clark's on the Hudson which is across the plaza from Liberty Bistro. The service at Liberty Bistro was good but could have been more attentive. Two family members had the lamb chops and one had the steak and said very good. I had the branzino which was "deboned" however there was quite a bit of bones in the fish than I would have cared for. my husband requested when our desserts came if a candle could be put in one of the desserts which was done. what left a sour taste in my mouth was the fact the dessert with the candle was listed on the bill. This has never happened to us for any celebrations we've had at other restaurants. usually the one birthday dessert is complimentary. I would think after spending $400 before tip Liberty Bistro could have given the one birthday dessert complimentary as it is good business to do so. It's the small gestures that keep people returning to the establishment. read more

It is so noisy it's impossible to hear your companions over the insanely loud music and general noise. Music is too loud. While I commend the outdoor dining program in NYC, I'm still nervous to be too close to other people. Liberty Bistro's location in Battery Park City, while out of the way, seems like a sanctuary in the city. The manager instituted a rule that happy hour is only inside the restaurant during a pandemic. It's highly inappropriate to only offer discounted rates to patrons that have a higher risk tolerance during COVID-19. The staff understood and were nice, but the manager's policy is unacceptable. You are paying for the view. Service is horrible and food is okay. We live in the neighborhood and dine here occasionally. We have yet to have good service. It is always slow at best and from the hosts to the managers they seem to just not care. Our latest visit was for a Saturday night dinner. After being seated it was 10 minutes before someone visited the table with water. We asked for bread as well. We had to ask for it twice before any was brought. However, the server brought no plates or butter. We had to wait another 5 minutes while staring at the bread basket. Two of the party ordered drinks while ordering food. The entrees were brought before the drinks arrived. After the entrees arrived we had to ask when the drinks were coming. The entree order included steaks so it is not like they did not have plenty of time to bring drinks before the entrees arrived. At most restaurants, when you order a steak they bring you a steak knife before the steak arrives. Not here. We had to ask for a steak night, while attempting to use a butter knife to cut the steak before it arrived. The server then disappeared. We finished our food and sat there bored while waiting for him to show up again so we could ask for the check. We were sitting next to the host/hostess stand and were tired of complaining so we did not say anything else. However, it was clear we were bored and more than one host or hostess looked over at us but said absolutely nothing. They did have an active conversation going on amongst themselves that seemed to be more important. As for the food, it is mostly okay, and severely overpriced compared to what you get. The steak frites ($48 I think) is as much as a steak from a steakhouse and average at best. The burgers were okay but way overpriced at $22. As mentioned, have never had good service here. The brunch is actually decent, even if overpriced. If you are willing to pay inflated prices go for the brunch. read more

Ate here with my kiddos on Saturday for brunch. We wanted outdoor seating due to Covid. Service was accommodating and efficient. However, would not recommend the outdoor seating. Both heat lamps for our table kept turning off intermittently and my husband had to keep unplugging and replugging lamps to get them to reboot. One worked but one didn't. No one was near us to help and we didn't want to keep asking every 15 minutes. Suffice it to say, it made for an unpleasant meal. Every other table's lamps seemed to work but overall lamps were very very underpowered. I really want to support restaurants during the pandemic so feel bad being critical but felt obliged to write this review because I found it really difficult to choose an outdoor dining place in light of the shortage of reviews about the adequacy of outdoor heating during Covid at particular places. If you're comfortable dining inside I would recommend based on good location and good food but not if you're looking for a decently warm outdoor dining experience. read more
