This place is great but mainly for drinks! The atmosphere is great with a lovely view of the water. It also has a nice buzz with much of the Brookfield office crowd. However, I just really wish they had more options for vegetarians. You can enter from the outside where they have beautiful hanging florals and lights or you can also enter from inside Brookfield Place. The inside is dimly lit and very cute. We went for a group brunch and we got the most beautiful seat perfectly looking out to the river. Some of the servers were very nice while our main server taking the orders was sort of rude. We had a great experience here today for Sunday brunch. My mom and I were visiting NY for the week and my aunt recommended this restaurant for brunch, and I am so glad she did! We ordered the Lady Liberty Tower with oysters, lobster, and shrimp as a starter and had delicious cocktails including mimosas, margaritas, and my favorite: their frozen Mojito. I ordered the Croque Madame for brunch with a side of bacon and it was delicious. My mom ordered the lobster roll, which she also enjoyed. We also got a side of truffle fries which were amazing. Overall, this spot is a great French cuisine with a beautiful view of the marina, not to mention their pretty flowers and decor, perfect for photos. While staying in a hotel right in the area, we stopped into the bar for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. The ambiance was wonderful, lovely decor and piano music. Our bartender was terrific, he made a great drink, was friendly but not intrusive. I would go back again. Stumbled upon this place while meeting some friends at Brookfield place and decided to check it out. I ordered the tomato soup which was good but served lukewarm and without any bread or crackers, which would've been nice. I also got the adult hot cider (without any alcohol) and it was just heavenly. We sat outdoors because the view and decor was too beautiful to pass up on. It was cold but manageable, and the cider was simply perfect for the occasion. My only complaint was that about an hour after eating, my stomach started cramping up very badly. Previous to this I had only had breakfast at home so I assume it was the soup. Other than the face masks, you would not realize there is a pandemic at this time. Dining here al fresco is the norm and seats are now more spaced apart. The food was top notch. We had the liberty sea food tower, which had a nice spread of prawns, oysters and a whole lobster (allegedly, but it was a fairly small lobster, probably less then a pound). The seafood paella was our main and it was very good. Well seasoned with the expected spices and a healthy portion of seafood. This was good. It is listed as a plate for 2, but probably tends toward the smaller side. To finish, we had the creme brulee, a classic and done like a classic. The creme portion was probably just a little thicker/heavier than what we would like but it was nonetheless a very nice finish to the meal. We had some drinks, they were good enough. We were seated right under a speaker and the sound was just a bit loud. However, it contributed to a very festive atmosphere. read more

This review is based on brunch for 3 last winter. (Just found the receipt and realized I hadn't reviewed earlier.) My friends and I had the Croque Monsieur, the Bacon Benedict, and the Salmon Benedict. I loved the Croque Monsieur and I think my friends liked their choices too. Items were pricey though -- $25 - $28 (salmon). Someone ordered a side of baby spinach which was $12. Drinks were even more expensive. What I remember most, though, about our experience was that we were seated at a table near a door to the exterior. Even though the door was not in use (since it was winter and no one was eating outside), the door didn't seem to close fully and there was a FIERCE icy draft. It was almost as if the door was permanently a bit ajar as opposed to just a lack of weatherproofing for a fully closed door. I tried several times to alert restaurant staff to the issue (including the hostess), but nothing was done. My takeaway is that if you eat there during the winter, be very careful that if you are led over to be seated near the exterior doors, make sure this situation has been addressed or request seating elsewhere. All in all, a fine meal, though on the expensive side, but the restaurant should have done something about the door problem. I'm giving 4 stars in hopes that this was a one-time fluke. Net, net, that's probably one star too many. read more

This place has heated outdoor seating during COVID, a beautiful view and friendly staff - hosts, servers, management, etc... are excellent! I can honestly say this is my favorite place for an afternoon snack. After a long day of shopping and running errands this is where I like to wine down and enjoy the sunset for that magic hour. Before covid I used to go to the oyster bar inside for happy hour and didn't realize there was this outdoor patio in the back of Le District. If there was one good thing that happened during covid it would be my discovery of Liberty Bistro. What a great experience I've had here a couple times. A friend and I went for a late lunch/brunch on a weekend. The ambience is really lovely - great views of the water and skyline from the dining room. I got the Eggs Norwegian (Benedict with smoked salmon) and my friend had the Steak and Eggs. We also got a carafe of bellinis. Both entrees were decent (and a fair portion), and the drinks were good. I don't think I'd come back for the food, but it's a cute stop if you're in the area. The host and our server were very nice and attentive. The server was taking a long time to get our order, so when he came we ordered a bread basket, and the entrees at the same time. After we waited a few minutes, we asked another server if he could bring the bread we ordered, but he told us he couldn't bring it first because we ordered the bread and the food at the same time. He argued that it was our fault that we should have ordered it separately, and was very rude telling us that "this is your my problem". Then we called the manager "David", but to our surprise, he was even more rude and unhelpful than the server. We only wanted him to apologize for the server manners and say he was going to bring us bread. Instead, he was really really rude. I had to ask him more than 5 times to leave. It felt like we had to beg for food. It was just bread. How long can it take? We canceled our order and went to Sant Ambroeus - What a difference! We sat down, ordered drinks and immediately they served a bag of delicious and warm bread to each one of us! read more

Liberty Bistro is in beautiful setting with a great view right on the water, The vibe is a 10/10 but the service, unfortunately, is a 1/10. I do not eat meat or cheese, so asked for the heirloom cherry tomato salad without feta cheese. I was told that could not be done. It seemed like a simple enough request, but since apparently it was not possible, I asked what was in the side salad. I was told it was a mix of vegetables (no cheese) so I ordered that as my main entree and asked for avocado to be added. The waiter told me that they do not have avocado, so I pointed out that it is a listed ingredient in other dishes. The waiter then said that the chef would yell at him if he asked him to add avocado to the salad. That was extremely frustrating and unaccommodating but I guess I had to accept it since, at that point, it was clear that the waiter was unwilling to accept any modifications to the dishes. When the salad arrived, it was NOT a "mix of vegetables", it was lettuce. A plate of lettuce. A plate of DRY lettuce that did not even come with the chardonnay vinaigrette (either on the "salad" or on the side) that was listed on the menu - I had to ask for the dressing separately. I am not one to usually leave a bad review, but I want other diners, especially those with allergies or specific food preferences, to be aware that Liberty Bistro will not accommodate your requests. read more

Made a reservation online for 3 people on Saturday, 9/4 at 8pm. Arrived on time and went to checkin so we can be seated. The hostess/manager said she couldn't find our reservation in her system.. we asked her to look again as this would have been our 4th time going to this restaurant and never had this problem before. She seem annoyed and started to raised her voice saying well I can't find you guys in the system you will have to wait 30 minutes or, we can sit you at a high top table right away. We decided on the high top table. So one of the other girls brought us to the high top table said she will returned with the menus and never did after 8 minutes of waiting I walked back to the checkin area to asked for menus. Again approach by the manager with a loud voice yelling in front other staffs and guests to me...yes, you didn't get a menu yet because we (as she presumed) gave her attitude. I told her I'm not deaf and she doesn't need to raised her voice at me and I don't want to further engage in speaking to her based on her tone as I just needed the menu. At this point she says loudly well we will not serve you! As I said this would have been my 4th time here and I never saw her there on any of those prior occasions! Each time we went to this restaurant we spent over $300 plus. It's unacceptable and unprofessional for a manager of all people to raise their voices at customers just because they can't locate a reservation made online! And to top it off she ask me to leave the restaurant because I went back to ask for menus. As I was planning a birthday party of 25 people in October but after this incident I wouldn't even spend a penny to support a business that allows employees to speak to customers this way! Like I said prior to this "manager" I never dealt with this behavior! To turn away a customer that spends money to support your business and to disrespect them with an audience is beyond rude! I would never recommend this place or attend there again! They deserve no stars!!!! Also, when that manager couldn't locate our reservation her excuse was they don't do same day reservations. Food poison for both of us who dined here. 2 days of non stop restroom visits for my friend. I had headache, runny stomach, and throwing up all the food I ate there. Will spare you the details. We had shrimp skewers, oysters, tuna crudo, salmon entree and steak frites. A dirty martini, a manhattan and a glass of rose. We'd like a refund or at least a conversation with the manager. Understanding that business is hard during covid, food poison is also no fun for $207. Update: I called the restaurant day after symptoms. Restaurant said the manager would call me back. They didn't. So I called the manager. She spoke to me very kindly and said she'd offer a refund. She said she'd call me back the next day around 3/4 pm and speak to the culinary team. No one gave me a refund nor call me back. I called them on Saturday. Manager said someone was supposed to call me during the week but didn't. She asked me to wait till Monday for a definitive answer. She also said she can only refund me for the food, not the drinks, which is around $120. I said we demand a full refund. Then she said she'd talk to her manager and call me back. She didn't call me back. I called the restaurant again for a follow up on Saturday night. They asked me for my card number to refund me just the food and asked for doctor's note for "further investigation" should I ask for anything more than the food refund. I acquiesced. But I did not have my card at the time so one day later I called back with the card ready. The decor is awesome, spattered with cute tables and white banquettes, plenty of plants, neon signs, and old photos! When the weather's nice- even better! The view across the Hudson is to die for, outdoor dining at its best! It's located in the western side of Le District, in Brookfield Place, which is adjacent to the Oculus WTC. There are also large indoor and outdoor, waterfront bars. open indoor and outdoor now during Covid, practices SD, takes temperatures, and contact-tracing info per NYC law. Very well done! My friend and I originally booked outdoor seating but due the humidity which triggered my friend's asthma, we requested indoor seating and, although indoor seating was not scheduled to open until 30 minutes later, management honored our request and seated us inside. Our waiter, Phillippe, was charming and professional. The chicken paillard and the moules a la mariniere were delicious and so were our desserts (strawberry tart and lemon meringue tart). read more

They offer live music which sets a very calming and cool atmosphere while you can look over the Hudson River and watch people coming and going in glam from Brookfield Place or runners off the HRP. The cocktail menu is modern and well done as well as the food menu. The food is just as described however the freshness is questionable. After tuna tartare and Kumamoto oysters, it was time to call it. The service, understandably, is very slow during these unforeseen times.
