1st time at Fair Harbor, joined A large group of ladies for lunch. We were offered several Nice choices, I had lobster tacos. Chunks of lobster not Shredded, and the base Marinade was very tasty & not Overwhelming. Black bean side Nice add on. Thankfully, Le Dock is now in the hands of the new owner, Michael Miller. I had heard about it all summer and I can honestly say the hype is justified. The food is AMAZING! I just got back to the city after making a special trip to try the new and improved Le Dock. Michael took it over this summer and has done a spectacular job. The food is much better than before and the service is impeccable. We shared two incredible entrees, the salmon and the lobster tacos. I've had lots of salmon in my life but this has to be one of the very best. The herb crust and red pepper coulis were brilliant. We were in the mood for pasta so Michael obliged. It was great, but next time we will have it with farro. Everyone has been raving about it so I can't wait for next summer to try it. I have had lots of fish tacos, but the lobster tacos here are decadent and delicious. I can't wait to return next summer. read more

Just had a great experience here - I've been coming to Fair Harbor since I was a child and eaten at many versions of this restaurant. This is one of the best by far. The food was delicious and it was great to see the owner so involved and genuinely interested in how we were doing. We had herb crusted salmon, stuffed artichoke, burrata and shrimp arrabbiata - all delicious! We even got takeaway drinks in a quick manner! I recommend this spot - go asap! read more

Extremely over-priced and the food doesn't warrant it. The only plus side is the view over the water. If you time it right, you can watch the sun set and it's beautiful. That's really all though. The food is mediocre. read more

If you're not friends with the owners, prepare yourself to be sidelined even if you have a reservation. The food is good, thanks Jean Georges, I guess, the service was not. We had made a reservation and requested an outdoor table of which we arrived a little early. Though there many empty tables outside, we were told at the hostesses station that seating "is not guaranteed." Okay, but there were plenty of tables outside, "can we sit at one of those?" We were told that we can sit at one of the table inside, and that the outdoor tables are reserved for "friends of the owner." Annoyed, we decided to sit at the bar right at the hostesses station. 20 minutes later a group of four arrive announcing that they had no reservation and debated sitting inside or out. After 30 debate, they choose to sit outside. The hostess looked at her manager, who looked at the non-reserved guests and nodded. They were shown to an outdoor table. So the outdoor table are, in fact guaranteed, but only for the elite who also, by the way don't need to make reservations. Also, the bar tender was polite, but obviously uninterested in the service industry, generally ignoring people unless called upon. Really, is this how you treat your patrons? At least tell your staff to come up with a less affronting explanation as to why you don't care about the plebs. Nice. read more

So, it's the time of Covid and I'm thinking to myself "What can I do to make our anniversary celebration special." I made a reservation at Le Dock, and was greeted like a long-lost friend. Measures to ensure hygiene and social distancing were in place and obvious. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, great calamari, a wonderful meal, topped off by a warm lava cake. When you try a new restaurant you allow for some opening jitters: appetizers arriving at different times, being out of entrees and sides, etc. but there are certain non-negotiables. Burned garlic in the spinach, beards left on mussels (which were over cooked), and tainted shrimp (which resulted in a very unpleasant overnight experience) are simply not acceptable! Combined with being seated next to the kitchen in a half empty dining room because they were "completely booked with large parties" left us cold and $350 poorer! read more

It was actually laughable - my dinner was dry and tasted like it just came out of the microwave, the cheeseburger and fries my son ordered tasted freezer burnt, the other dishes at our table were basic, thrown together and not tasty. If you are in fire island - no mater where- this restaurant is a definite 'must'. It is not just an excellent dining experience- it is a night out. We went to fair harbor from ocean beach (Le Dock offered and paid for half the fare) to have a lovely sunset dinner- But what was so much more. We made fiends with every table - the mood was just intoxicating...and the Dock had a evening sunset ritual called 6ish when everyone comes to the Dock to watch the sunset- and Le Dock is a part of it all.. it's a great vibe. Not to mention-the food was delicious. The service was like friends/family - just the loveliest evening out. The apps were delicious- we had crispy calamari and tomato mozzarella My wife had the lobster tacos for dinner and I had the stuffed shrimp special... all were excellent I had a special Manhattan cocktail in hand and watched a beautiful sunset with seemingly 100 new friend and can't wait to visit again...yes definitely 5 stars. read more

Service - 4/5 Appetizers - 2/5 Entrees - 1/5 Not kidding, the entrees were an unmitigated disaster. It was much more galling because JGV's name was on it. I had extremely high hopes for the fried chicken and so did several of my dining companions. What we got tasted like roasted chicken that had been covered in thick tempura-esque batter and then pan-friend for 30 seconds. The burger looked so sad I didn't have the heart to ask my friend how it tasted. Apparently the pasta was "Okay" ... but, that's just not acceptable for JGV. The appetizers were "Meh." The sushi dish tasted like Pringles. The tuna tartare was fine, but basic. The mussels were just on the okay side of fishy. And the shrimp did not retain any of the flavor of the sauce they were cooked in. It was almost like they hadn't been marinated. In anything. I will say that our server was lovely (even if she could've been a tad more attentive in the drinks department) and the frosé was an enjoyable drink. TL;DR: Absolutely do not eat here. read more

Wow! After cooking for ourselves at home Covid-19 style for 2 weeks while on Fire Island, we ordered from Le Dock online for delivery tonight. The food arrived from Fair Harbor hot and aromatic. We were treated to an elevated dining experience. The flavors were astoundingly complex and yet smooth. We loved every bite. We had the crab cakes & calamari (travelled better than expected), followed by the salmon and fried chicken. The chef's talented touch infused the meal with surprisingly enjoyable experiences at every turn. The side sauces were sublime and enhanced the flavors of the items paired with them. You know it's special when each bite you take creates positive ripple effects throughout your taste-buds so much you have to recognize and appreciate the marvel even as you are swept away by the comfort and caring that clearly went in and comes out of it. I used to eat here a lot, but went on Saturday and was very disappointed. The food wasn't as good as it used to be, and the prices were higher, but the worst part is that the place stinks! They obviously have a sewer problem that they need to address. Can't possibly be hygienic. read more

It's so good to have a great restaurant on fire island. I've been for lunch and dinner and the food is delicious, especially the dessert. The servers are always nice and laid back but attentive. Atmosphere is on point as well. Will definitely be going back. Recommend the clams linguini, salmon sushi, fried chicken, and the sundae. read more

We had a 6:30 reservation on a Monday night. The line of people waiting to check in stretched to the door but it moved pretty quickly. I asked for an outside seat and when I checked in my table was already ready. But that's where prompt service ended. As everyone else has said, the service is horrible. We were lucky enough to get our dinner order in quickly but we waited almost 45 minutes to get our plates cleared and order dessert. It seemed like only one waitress was working the entire restaurant. I did feel bad because the waitress and bus boy were trying to help but they can only do so much. It's a shame what has happened to this once, casual, no-fuss, barefoot community restaurant. What was once large portions of local fresh flounder, abundant mussels, tasty heaps of calamari, and plenty of healthy side options (included with meal!), have now been turned into microscopic morsels of mediocre preparations. The lobsters look like they are from a child's play set of miniature food. And they have no business offering linguini and clams. Bland, tasteless and gummy! My Italian grandmother was probably turning over in her grave that I even made an attempt to eat it! Surprising that Jean Georges is not embarrassed to attach his name to this sad replacement of Le Dock! Yes, it's away crowded (which is why they don't care about honest reviews like this), but that is because it is the only restaurant in the Fair Harbor community, and you just can't beat the view! I'm sure if they could shrink that as well, and charge a ticket to view, they would have! read more

The food is outstanding at this place; there's really no way around that. Portion size is minimal of course with prices as high as can be, but the quality of everything kinda makes up for it. But then the service... Yeah it's as bad as you may have heard. Worse actually. I don't think I have ever had service this bad. The busboy had to step in to make sure we were getting our orders taken and to be honest, we almost gave him the tip instead of the waiter. The waiter was just terrible. Didn't care at all about serving us and had the worst attitude. He also had no idea what was on the menu or that there was even a special for the evening!! He literally told us there was no special and we only learned that there was when the waiter for the table next to us told the table what the special was. And any time we brought any issue to his attention he just made excuses. It would have been comical had we not actually been hungry and wanted to eat. We sat down at 6:30, didn't even see our waiter until 7, didn't get our order taken until 7:15, didn't get served until 7:45 and didn't get our check until 8:30. And we were actually not trying to stay more than an hour. read more
