Workers saw us walk in and ignored us - one server that my husband now refers to as "the grunter" literally nodded and grunted after we stood there for nearly 10 minutes and my husband asked if we could seat ourselves. We had to get our own menus. A departing couple wished us good luck and told us it took one hour to get their eggs. We then went up to the counter to place our order. I asked the woman at the front instead and she told me the water wasn't free and that I could get a bottled water from the shelf. She told me (while laughing) that I could pay for the water and squeeze lemon juice in the bottle. It was very odd. Never did I say I didn't want to pay for the water, so the whole situation felt discriminatory and offensive. She assumed that I wouldn't pay for the water. I then asked her if I could just have a cup of water, and she said they didn't have water. Again, things weren't adding up. I asked the original waitress as she was walking out the door about the water and she said they would be able to give me a cup of water to-go. So I went up to the counter and asked for the water again. Eventually, she handed me water with lemon looking defeated and annoyed. Again, never said I wouldn't pay for the water, so the whole situation was odd and felt discriminatory. Also never was I rude or disrespectful, so the situation was so uncalled for.
