A mixed bag from our family's first try at La Palais Sucre... This is located off a smaller side street in Downtown Pleasanton. Unexpectedly, this is a sit-down restaurant and not a casual fast food where you order at the counter and find an available table. There is a host(ess) podium to ask for a table to be seated at. There are outdoor and i door dining spaces where they have an expanded outdoor seating area that jets out into the street. The inside has a fair number of tables as well. The menu is sure to cater towards the standard breakfast fare of omelets and egg dishes, pancakes, and French toast. But you really should be coming here for the savory and sweet Crepes since that can't be found just anywhere. The prices are a bit more than what I expected given the less formal ambiance of other brunchbolaces.ive been visiting if late. On par with other local places averaging $18-$20, we ordered: - Neopolitan crepe that comes with a very unique side of Mexican Vanilla-favored but white in color ice cream, but doesnt melt! This was quite tasty! - Chicken & Pesto crepe filled with delicious chicken, spinach, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese - La Dinde crepe that was a unqie savory and spicier with chicken, mozzarella, and Chipotle sauce. The presentation was underwhelming, and the flavors were a bit off for our liking - Original French Toast complete with six half-slice pieces and very good I personally would come back, but the rest of my family were less enthusiastic, hence the 3-star rating. Le Palais Sucre is listed at 600 Main Street Suite F. It's physically more on Division Street. There's an outside parklet and indoor air conditioned seating that you can choose between. It was not crowded on the hot Sunday around noontime. Service was very good. The sign said to wait to be seated, however the hostess told us we could seat wherever we wanted. We sat outside. She gave us our menus and took our order in a timely manner. The food arrived in good time and many hostesses came to check on us periodically during the meal. They cleared our dishes as we each finished our meal. The check arrived and I decided to pay inside to see what the inside was like. The inside is nicely air conditioned. Service was excellent. Note the menu prices on their web site are not current. The Monkey Treat ($15 filled with bananas & Nutella, topped with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar) and Sweet Fraise crepes ($15 filled with strawberries & Nutella, topped with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar) were delicious! The size was good. They had plenty inside of them and were very tasty. The 3rd crepe was not good. That was the Sunshine Suzette crepe ($14 filled with caramelized mandarin oranges and topped with a dried orange). Don't order this. It did not seem to be caramelized. We have never been to this Pleasanton nice find. They are in a Main Street complex just east of Main Street on Division. This makes them a bit harder To find but well worth the effort. We had three crepes: Hamlet, mushroom lovers and cinnamon apple dessert. All were excellent. The Hamlet contained ham, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. They gabe us plenty of game and the flavors fit nicely together. This was my wife's favorite today. The mushroom lovers had tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and scrambled eggs and Monterey Jack cheese. Think of a mouthful of sautéed ovens. This was my favorite today. This is a family run business with some of the children helping. Hector, a long time family friend, is a nice addition to the staff. I have a soft spot in my heart for small businesses that can make it in the restaurant business. They have been in business for about one year. The latte had a custom printed Christmas tree which added to the festive season. Please give them a visit. This was a fun adventure for us. read more

We stumbled upon this delightful gem Saturday evening. Lucky for us that we were turned away by Experience Burma next door (they were doing reservations only). We were pleasantly surprised when our oat milk lattes came with such creative art. Turns out that this place is known for their latte art! The lattes were perfectly balanced in robustness and creaminess. We had sweet and savory crepes - all of them delicious! The sweet crepes come with their own whipped cream - very light, airy, with a hint of cinnamon I think. Major shoutout to our server Yesenia, who also prepared our lattes. For some reason, this restaurant cannot make crepes in a timely fashion. It can't be that difficult. I am mystified. My order for a Denver crepe was taken quickly, and then I just sat and sat and sat. Suggestion to management: If your specialty is crepes, figure out how to make them in a timely fashion. I remember going to New Park Mall, and hanging out at the "Goldmine", where kids would meet up in the back of the arcade and breakdance. I have been eyeing this creperie for a while now so I decided today is the day. I'm so glad we have this little gem in downtown Pleasanton! Let me start with the service: amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. You can tell they had regulars which is always a good sign. Ambiance of the creperie was chill and inviting. Onto to the food: wow what can I say? I mean I know this is a creperie however don't sleep on their food because it's just as delicious! Of course we had to try the crepes so we ordered the Monkey Treat which has Nutella and bananas with whipped cream. This hit the spot couldn't stop eating it each bite so good! When we came at 10:30am, most of the tables were occupied but we were still able to be seated right away. We ended up ordering the fermex roll and Le Denver crepes. You can choose a side of fruit, salad, or potatoes with your order. The portion is fairly large and we were quite full at the end of the meal. It was 5 stars itself. The crepe itself was delicious and there was plenty of chicken and cheese filled inside. I picked potatoes as my side over salad. This is a cute place off of Main Street for crepes, eggs/omelettes, & salads. We received a warm welcome when we approached to order at the counter. In fact, everyone that we interacted with was so nice and thoughtful. My husband and I decided to share the Chicken & Pesto crepe which came with a choice of salad, fruit, or home potatoes. Chicken was moist and the pesto was delicious. Pesto can be overly rich but in this version, it was flavorful and well-balanced. The potatoes were also nicely crisped and tasty. This was our first visit and they brought us their home made salsa to try which was super yummy. We also got to try their Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream to celebrate my husband's bday. They brought glasses of ice water that had been infused with lemon and cucumber, and there was a lite taste of both in the water. We chose to sit outside since it was a sunny and beautiful day. They have big outdoor umbrellas to provide shade. I ordered the Salmon Fumé with a side of House Potatoes. I love that it came with avocados. The food was very filling and yummy. Our server brought out their housemade salsa, which paired very well with the crepe. My friends and I had ordered a sweet crepe to share but unfortunately, we were too full from each of our individual crepe. I'm a big fan of this coffee shop with the mom and pop feel. I work right across from them and they always give you such a warm greeting when you walk in. There's plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. The menu coffee is pretty standard but I think their crepes are what makes them stand out. I've had their chicken pesto and it was very good. Their sweet crepes looks amazing. I'm determined to try their salmon crepe soon. I saw that their crepe prices range from about 10.99 - 18.99 (salmon crepe was the most expensive). I usually get an iced americano and it was never disappointed. They only have a few syrups to choose from (caramel, simple syrup, vanilla) but good coffee usually doesn't need much. Def recommend supporting this small business next time you're in downtown Pleasanton. read more

This local eatery right off of main offers a no nonsense breakfast spot that caters to all of the locals. The space is optimized to seat as many patrons as possible on those busy weekend mornings when everyone is out for brunch. The menu is primarily breakfast with omelette and egg dishes along with their staple of savory and sweet crepes. You could fit a larger party (10-12) off against the bench seating to the left wall upon entry but call in advance since space is at a premium during the busy breakfast hours of 9-12pm. There are outdoor tables as well. The wait staff does their job getting patrons in, seated, and their orders taken fairly quickly. Though busy, the turnaround is quick enough that you should be able find a table for 2-4 without any wait. There is also a lot off pick up business as well. Not really a spot to hang and study but there are about three outlets at the front of the house on either side of the entrance by the window tables and one off to the corner in the back of the cafe by the aforementioned bench seating. I've posted with my laptop to do work and never felt rushed by the staff to hurry and vacate the tables. There is a beer, wine, and other alcoholic drinks on the menu as well. However, their business is breakfast. Omelettes, eggs, sweet and savory crepes, some salads, and hot and cold coffee and juices. If you want a no nonsense breakfast, come by the palais! read more
