Went here over Memorial Day weekend with the family (large group) after being recommended by a local. Thought we would give it a shot. The family dropped in right after opening and the staff were very accommodating with setting up some tables with us. After being seated of course I began looking around and it's a very cute little place with some kitschy French decor. Soon we were seen by the waiter who was very pleasant and informative about the food. We placed our order and waited for the food. The food arrived and looked delicious! The family began to eat and it was nothing but smiles from ear to ear. As you can see from the pics I got the steak and eggs with potatoes au gratin. The steak was a little bland and not the largest steak but came with some tasty sauce. All smiles until the bomb dropped and the price of the steak was revealed...$45... The menu said "market price" so this is not their fault but just be prepared like I was not! read more

Went in to order a lunch, the staff working there were all busy talking to the people they know, so my order wasn't taken after 40 min. I ordered a crap cake and clam soup, I was ready to dig in, being very hungry, but when the food appeared I was disappointed, especially the clam soup where 8 out of 10 clams are empty shells, those clams with clam meat in there measured each no bigger than my pinky tip and flat as a penny. when I mentioned this fact to the waiter, he grew hostile. So I quickly exited the restaurant. Unbekownst to me, after eating the 12 or so clams, I developed severe diarrhea. and realized that these clams I ate were probably long dead sitting in the bottom of the fish tank. read more

I always come for the Beautiful Baguettes but always have to try something different. This time we got the fruit tarts. It is extremely flavorfulful and the pudding is firm enough not to be bleeding through the pasty. Definitely A plus. The Baguettes are the best in the city. I have not been able to replicate them yet. I will never stop trying!! The Carmel chip cookies are pretty awesome. Chewy and flavorful. Love this place. First time here, found it while searching for near by coffee to the harbor. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's breakfast place but you can also just get pastry. They have separate door for the bakery. It was nice seating area where we sat. We had the egg Benedict which was really good, we got it with crab. Bakery items were really good. Coffee on the other hand which was the latte wasn't good! It was too expensive but not good at all! To get bakery items you can to go to bakery you don't really need to sit there. In fact If you don't purchase breakfast items they prefer to just take it for togo. The breakfast was good I highly recommend it. read more

Wow, is this the place for a cup of joe! An aging establishment but worth the visit in my judgment. WARNING: They sell pastries, but their trays were nearly empty when we arrived. Either an earlier horde of pirates plundered the bakery, or the newly baked goods had not yet arrived. We opted to be seated on the patio. (Note: Wear something to warm you if you go there before 9am in late March). The ambiance of the commercial fishing boats staring at you while seated on the terrace reminded me of a visit I once had to Brest, France. We were seated promptly and served a coffee that was sold just up the road in Santa Barbara. Our server said it was "Monticello". I went online later to order some and found it was called "Montecito". (Note: It's not cheap!). The coffee tasted similar to a French roast, but it had a flavorful, rounded body to it and it was not at all bitter! I recommend it to all dark bean heads everywhere. Our server was friendly and efficient in getting our food and drinks. I ordered the quiche and it was tasty. But it was the accompanying potato au gratin that floored my palate. Ooolala! (Had I known, I would have dumped my quiche order in favor of a double order of the potatoes)! All in all, we had an enjoyable (albeit pricy) breakfast. FYI- We would dine here again. It was a beautiful day in mid December when we went to La Petit for breakfast. Martin was our server. It was warm and comfortable, so outside seating was appealing. That was a great decision, as the air and smell of the ocean was welcome --- no nasty boat harbor odor. Dave and I had the eggs benedict with the smoked salmon. It was served on a toasted croissant half, puffy and light. The salmon was moist and tender and big pieces, not overly salted. The hollandaise was unremarkable, a missed opportunity IMO, but creamy and soft. The potatoes au gratin were flavorful and hearty, a welcome addition instead of home fries or hash browns. The ladies had an omelet and a salad respectively, both well portioned and appealing. The omelet came with a massive serving of bread pudding, enough for all 4 of us to have our sweet tooths satisfied. Also, we can recommend the bloody Mary's. read more

What a lovely little gem tucked into the (let's be honest, the not-so-lovely Harbor Village in Ventura). Village be damned, La Petite is a shining star amongst the foggier places in the harbor side village. Food orders include a croissant or baguette. It is a fine little restaurant serving really good genuine French food in a romantic little indoor or outdoor cafe. Had Brunch there today-a fri at 11:30am. No one else there to start with but filling up by noon. We've been there several times for brunch and dinner but not recently. We biked there from our place in channel island harbor--about 8 miles. beautiful outdoor setting/perfect weather--able to keep bikes close to the table with option of shade or sun. Waitress/service was wonderful. Mimosas come with a small container of OJ and and individual small champagne bottle--very nice so each of us can taper the OJ/bubbly ratio to our liking. The menu has changed (for the better) since we were here last. We are both lovers of seafood crepes and we couldn't resist. I must say, these were the best I have ever had and that includes several trips to france--just awesome. This brunch is now added to our "go-to" list. Not cheap but well worth every penny. Thought it would be a good breakfast spot. The menu seemed limited. MP for a breakfast steak, thought that was strange, didn't know there was volatile beef market. I Let my kid order it anyway thinking it could be that much given the area. $45. It looked like something from the sizzler or outback. Absolutely disappointing experience. Rude owner and waitress. My pre teen daughter has a medical condition and the waitress was so rude and abrupt and did not work with her to ensure the food was safe for her to consume. Do not come here if you have type one diabetes and need to have accommodations made. Or if you need any patience and simply common human courtesy and decency! Absolutely mortified about how my daughter was treated. She is trying to control this disease instead of it controlling her. The waitress very loudly expressed that I was the bad mother and should have ordered for her. I cannot believe the lack of humanity. My heart breaks for my kiddo. We went here for my birthday. When we sat down there was only 1 more table in the place that already had there food. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. She brought our drinks and went to take our order and told my mom that she had to order the proscprosciutto to be safe because they were out of another meat and she couldn't remember which one. After 3 times of us asking her to check what they were out of and her responding just get the one to be safe, my mom offered to go ask the kitchen what they were out of herself. After that we sat at the table for an hour while the resteraunt filled up and she took care of everyoneand got them their food. She finally came back and said she was busy but they did have sausage. We asked where the appetizer was and she said it takes a while. It was bread with cheese. We got up and said we were leaving after more time had passed and she screamed that we would pay for all of the food. This waitress was the rudest and had the most disrespectful attitude of ever seen. As previously been in the service industry, I never complain but this was ridiculous. The owner canceled the food and was kind. I will go back to the resteraunt, but not if this waitress is here. read more

Came in with my mom earlier today only to find out that a generic nothing special latte costs $8 if you dine in... nowhere on the menu does it have any drinks let alone the prices. The menu in the front says 6.5 for a medium... I added a shot of hazelnut which is an additional $.50 but I was told that I'm paying an additional dollar for the view! Wtaf? We sat inside! $13 for chicken strips I figure "ok not bad" this is what we got. Maybe 5 measly pieces of chicken the size of my finger with some "salad". French toast was alright but very greasy. Great for a quick stop but if you're looking for quality maybe try somewhere else. The "whipped cream" served with our French toast was cool whip. read more

One of the most authentic and wonderful French bakeries around. AND they have a restaurant and a chef who really knows his stuff. I've eaten here many times and not sure why I haven't reviewed before, but the food here is top notch! Today we had the seafood stew, Z plate (charcuterie board) and crab cake. The baguettes, spectacular. I had the Z plate and LOVED everything, especially the roasted garlic and pate'.
