DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I have never received more rude service than at this establishment. Today is Valentine's day, so given places are busier than normal. But under no circumstance should a customer hear a employee yell, "I'm done! I am over the bakery". As we were about to place an order.... We ordered 2 single coffee drinks, which were 5$ each for a the 8oz. The drink I received was burnt. We return for a refund, since we were awaiting a table to sit and eat on the cafe side anyways. The lady who was "done" came up and asked if we were here for lunch, we explained the burnt coffee. She asked of I would like it remade, I told her it was unnecessary. She then took off, returned with a $5 and quickly tried shoving it into my hands, as she walked by. No apologies, no manners. I then called to speak to a manager, because it is unbelievable they treat customers in that manner. I could hear the boy say they want a manager, and to my surprise the same lady who was completley rude to us answered the phone. She pretended to not hear me and say my phone was staticky but cleary the guy before could hear just fine. Complete BS. I suggest going somewhere that has customer service. I'd rather see shitty places like this run out of business versus a good small businesswho treat their customers well. read more

We have enjoyed quite a few delicious lunches & dinners at this little gem of a restaurant we discovered at the far north end of Ventura Marina Village. Their complete menu offers an assortment of appetizers, salads, lunch sandwiches, and fine dinner entrees. One in our group is vegetarian & found plenty choices. The rest of us enjoyed fresh fish, prime quality meat, and poultry dishes. Le Petit Cafe has a wine list plus full bar for cocktails. A special delight is the after-dinner dessert tray brought tableside featuring fresh pastries from their onsite French bakery! Their location offers ample free parking, an casual indoor bistro-style dining room, plus a large waterview outdoor dining patio. We think this is the best restaurant in the area! read more

The food is usually pretty decent but could improve. Also, the snooty service could get better. I asked the waiter if he could ask the chef to make one of the dishes without mushrooms as I can't eat them & he replied by saying that I must not know what a French chef is like & that the chef would not ever modify the dish I wanted. Pretty unprofessional comment about the chef & if the chef truly feels that way, he's losing good customers. I know the French have some sort of rep of being snooty and rude to Americans in France but I'm in America right now so fix it without mushrooms and make your customers happy. This is the second time we've come to Le Petit, the last time was also on Easter Sunday. We have been pleased with our food each time. I got the Croque Monsieur and my husband the Crab Cake Sandwich; we both got fries as the side. The Croque Monsieur was excellent, the cheese was melted nicely and the sauce was rich but not overpowering. The Crab Cake sandwich was very good as well. It was served on a croissant which was flaky and light. The crab was yummy and not fishy at all. The fries were meh....we wish we would have asked for the potatoes au gratin which we got last time. They were not listed as a choice, but remembering from last time; they were quite good! The only issue I have with Le Petit are their prices; $20 for the Croque and $27 for the crab. I know that you pay a premium to be at the harbor but it was a bit too pricey for us to make it a regular stop; instead it will most likely be our Easter lunch tradition. read more

($$$$$$$$$$$$) Stopped in after breakfast at the Harbor Cafe. I have this obsession with bakeries/fresh pastries, and saw that Le Petite Cafe was a few stores down... We were not greeted with anyone at the register, so we followed a sign that said ring bell for service. We ordered a few pastries to TRY: 1. Almond Croissant- crispy, flakey, flavorful 2. Apple Tart- Not too sweet, perfect amount of apple slices. 3. Cream Cheese Danish- fresh, flakey with creamy cheese. The only downfall and disappointment is that the pastries here are quite EXPENSIVE. The prices average $3.50-$6 per item. The 4 pastries we purchased came out to almost $16! Portos isn't even thaaaaaaat expensive, & are better quality. Shocked. I'll most likely come back because the quality is good, but I wish it wasn't that expensive, unfortunately I will not be a regular here. read more

This place has a lovely outdoor patio with a nice view! The lunch menu is brief. Salads and Sandwiches, Croque Madame and Monsieur! Salade Niçoise ( my choice) and they even have Escargot! The wine list is short and to the point. They serve Kronenborg which was a pleasant surprise. The food arrived in a short while. Escargot delicious with crusty baguette. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich which came with a small salad. My Salade Niçoise arrived with a lightly seared tuna, sashimi pink on the inside. Some might prefer their tuna more cooked. It would be nice to see more French wine featured on the list. There was one white Bordeaux and a few reds. The prices are pretty up there. Our lunch ( 6 escargot we shared, salad, sandwich, one beer and a glass of wine) with tax and tip was over $100. read more

Authentic French Cuisine. The food is always consistent. The Seafood Crepe is a must try; my father-in-law always asks for one when he rolls his RV into California from Washington. The majority of the food was amazing!! Only giving 3 stars due to the horrible customer service by the Owner, John Luke. He didn't listen to our feedback. He talked over us and argued with us about how the steak was cooked. He literally said, "I've been cooking for 40 years, longer than you've been alive". We're all over 40 btw. He was very rude. He needs to learn that customers have preferences. Apologize and keep it moving. A true sign of a good place is when you can work there and still go back years later like I do. You'll know: #1 The kitchen is clean, #2 The owners are cool and treat the staff right, #3 The food is prepared well and fresh. Jean-Luc is an amazing genuine French chef and cooks from scratch, even all of the pastries that you'll have to see and taste to believe (and I usually don't even care for pastries)! Breakfast/Brunch is something you'll look forward to like Eggs Benedict on a croissant with ham, crab cakes, or vegetarian. How about French toast made with homemade croissants? Add on your café of choice or a mimosa. Mmmmmm. Walk around the harbor or take a Sunday nap afterward. :) For dinner, the filet is the best in town. Hands down. Came here to pick up some pastries to take over to the beach. Ordered the Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse. Both were overly sweet and you can't eat too much of it. If I had coffee or maybe tea, it would have been easier to take down, but I didn't think it was amazing or anything that I couldn't get at any other bakery. Discrimination. He asked us to leave with my Service Animal. I have a legal and fully trained Service Animal who is always attached to me when I am out and frequents every restaurant I go to. She wears a Service Animal vest. The owner, as I suppose it was, a middle aged French man, was extremely rude to me and my family and he refused to serve us because of my Service Animal. He literally said to me "I don't think this is going to work out." We hadn't even sat down. I was shocked. It was a breezy cooler day and when we arrived he looked at my Service Animal and walked out to the patio and told us to see if he had a table. We did not ask for the patio. I followed him out to see if it was too cold for us and another dog on the patio, a pet dog, not a Service Animal, barked and lunged at my Service Animal. My dog was unresponsive, as she is trained. The owner of the restaurant came up to me and told me I couldn't be where I was. I told him I was checking the weather to see if it was too cold to sit outside. He then told us he doesn't have a table for us outside and we couldn't be seated. He ignored us and was going to take two ladies behind us to a table, when my husband said, we have been waiting first, and he knew this. I said "We didn't ask to be sat outside". He said he couldn't seat us with a dog unless we were outside. He continued to get angry with us and said again "I don't think this will work." I explained he is breaking the law by discriminating against me and my Service Animal and he said, "I don't care, dog, pet, Service Animal. This is not going to work." I was shocked. My family was shocked. I explained again the laws of American Disabilities Act and he scoffed at us. Needles to say we walked away very distraught. He was rude to me and to my husband and my sons. They were all appalled at how he treated us. The snobbery and indignant behavior towards me and my Service Animal was unsettling. My family told me I handled myself well, because I was so upset . They said I should write a review about the incident. So I feel it is important to teach people about Service Animals and the need to treat people with disabilities you may not understand with decency and respect and exactly the same when we are out. We will not be going back. It is a a shame. read more

You can dine outside on a beautiful patio just feet away from the water of Ventura harbor. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable on the menu and are great to ask for food preferences. Overall bad experience. Came in initially because they had clam chowder as the soup of the day. Half of our party ordered it. Once they already got us drinks they informed us they were out of the chowder. We would have likely left if they told us this first. Ordered different food anyways. Took forever to get our food and they never even refilled our drinks. The kicker was they charged us the mandatory 18% tip for parties over 5. We had 4 adults and a 3 year old... I imagine they did this because they knew based on service the tip would have been poor. There are lots of better options at the Ventura Harbor. read more

I was absolutely not a fan of the breakfast at all. My fiancé ordered the French toast, and although fancy, it was nothing like the French toast you get anywhere else. It was a very heavy meal and just too much for one person. I ordered the crepes for a lighter breakfast and they were over cooked and even crispy on the edges and they lacked flavor. We sat outside which was lovely, the day was so beautiful, but I did notice there bugs enjoyed being inside with the French doors leading to the patio dining wide open. Our waitress was polite and attentive and checked on us appropriately. We don't visit the harbor very often, but I think next time we'll try somewhere else. read more

I also came to watch the harbor light parade a couple of weeks prior and had their seasonal mac & cheese. Also amazing... I did not give them five stars because the night I was there the service was terrible. I asked to be seated outside due to increased Covid rates in the area. It's like they forgot about me and only paid attention to the people inside... I had to ask for everything. I finally went inside to collect and sign the tab. Love this place especially the outside patio where I can people watch and stare at the boats in the marina. Gave it 4 stars because this past weekend my daughter and I sat for almost 5 minutes (yes that's a long time when it's got out and you don't have anything to drink and you are starving!) the waiter with the ponytail Never even acknowledged us (we might have been too young- he gave exceptional service to the "elder" crowd. Finally the sweet hostess sent a young waiter with brown hair over and he was fabulous! And the food was fabulous! The muscles and clams-omg so yummy!
