If Campbell's soup made a gumbo, then this is exactly what I was served. Sorry for the insult, Campbell's. Watery and no salt or gumbo veggies. We had the chicken and fries. Chicken was incredibly dry and had no flavor. Worst fried chicken I've ever had. The Shrimp Po Boy was also lacking, the breaded shrimp was deep fried but it looks like they might be reusing the same oil. The lettuce and tomatoes weren't fresh. The one thing I did enjoy was the bread pudding. Service was bad, took almost 55 minutes to get out food and told the waiter 5 times I was allergic to pickles, guess what the poboy came with? Pickles. He took it to the back and said he'll remake it himself like that's suppose to mean something. To top things off, we got charred for NA Beverage, basically we get penalized for not drinking alcohol. I continue to be impressed by airport dining options. Leah's Kitchen is one of those exceptions to the rule that all airport food is bad. I was leaving New Orleans but still had a taste for the their unique southern food. I was completely surprised by how good my shrimp and fried green tomato salad was. As for the service and the atmosphere, they are pretty standard as airport dining goes. But they've hit a home run with their menu. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Leah Chase before she passed. The Chase family should be embarrassed to name a place after a historic member of their family and run such a place. The place doesn't seem to remember they're catering to busy travelers. There is only one waitress for the whole place and she can barely walk. The food that's served isn't what is ordered. It takes forever for the food to come out. And they refuse to let you pay as you wait for food. So you have to wait 35 mins for a subpar salad and then another 25 mins to flag waitress down for check and another 15 mins for her to come back with the receipt. Surprisingly good airport food. I did not have a great experience at Dooky Chase years ago. And that was right after Leah had passed. I gave this spot a chance. They were understaffed but made it happen. Good service. Shrimp Po Boy was good. Shrimp fried just right. Fresh tasting. Fried chicken had that expert fry on it. Came out piping hot and needed nothing even though I did douse it with Louisiana hot sauce, of course. Very pleased. I will be back when I come through again. read more

We were starving after a flight and I stumbled upon Leah's Kitchen and I'm glad I did! One of the best fried chicken and po boys I've ever had. The food here is delicious and made to order and the focus is on the quality of the ingredients without overdoing it. Everything from the bun to the shrimp on my poboy was perfect and the food here is almost minimal with its focus on quality though the portions def aren't! Fried chicken was finger licking good and I spent a good ten minutes trying to get all the meat off the bone! Waitress was super friendly and made us feel at home even though we were at the airport. One of the best meals I've had this year and Leah's Kitchen is an amazing spot for people who want a nice home cooked meal on the go. (The same Leah from Dooky Chase without the line! While we waited for our flight home, we realized we didn't get to try any fried chicken during our very short visit to New Orleans. Came across Leah's kitchen and it was great find! We didn't expect much with airport food, but wow the food we received were delicious. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly and was so nice to share since we were splitting amongst three people. It was perfect as it comes with three pieces. The shrimp poboy was a little harder to share, but it was so good! Fried perfectly, had great seasoning/flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The seating in a relatively empty restaurant turned into an ordeal when we asked to have a table for two versus sitting at the bar because of waiter assignment. Finally we're seated. The floors are dirty and littered with stepped on fries and whatnot. One can tell the crew on shift do not take pride in their jobs. Some tables have condiments, some tables have the metal holder but only one or two condiments. The tea is cloudy and slightly bitter. My wife and I wanted to try this establishment as we heard the food was really good. However, we didn't get to try it because the restaurant was not open despite us being there during the posted hours. The restaurant is supposed to open at 6am according to the sign next to the restaurant. My wife and I were there around 6:15. There was an employee sitting at the bar who walked to the back of the restaurant when my wife and I were coming in. We waited a couple of minutes, but he never came out. We decided to eat somewhere else instead. When we walked by again over an hour later, there was still no employees at the front of the restaurant despite the restaurant opening at 6am and at this point it was close to 7:30. There were numerous people walking by potentially wanting to eat there, but no one was there to sit them or greet them. read more

Took a while to get seated and a a bit longer for food to come out, if you are in a hurry in between flights then maybe skip it all together, but if you have time to spare it's a good place to pass the time. The hostess was not hospitable but the waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. His attention wasn't the best but we did come between shifts so that does need to be taken into consideration. In the special category that is airport food, Leah's ain't too shoddy. It doesn't hold a candle to the insanely good, beautiful food that New Orleans has more generally, of course, but it gave us a nice sendoff. Located in Terminal A of the Louis Armstrong International Airport, right past security, this pretty, sit-down restaurant is very relaxed. Read: Don't go here if you have to catch a plane in short order. Luckily, we had a bit of time to kill and we really appreciated the sweet-as-pie wait staff, who were working their tails off. Our hostess pointed out the plethora of outlets built into the wall -- clearly added with business commuters in mind. The country breakfast ($14.30) comes with grits, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a biscuit. Most components were well made, the eggs nicely scrambled, the bacon crisp, and the grits nice and buttery. The one complaint we had was with the oddly squishy Wonderbread-like texture of the biscuit, which was nothing like the flakey, hundred-layered homemade biscuits I grew up eating. A bbq shrimp omelet ($13.99) was beautifully fluffy and generously filled with shrimp. Alas, the de facto cheese that was included was American cheese, which I strongly dislike. The bloody Mary was a whopping $17 and not 1/8 as delicious or strong as the one I'd had the day before at the French Market -- but I liked the pickled okra very much. The pricing felt punitive, like judgment for being such lushes that we'd pay those prices. I wouldn't mind doing this over again next time I pass through MSY if time allows. read more

My family and I came here last year (2024) and again this year. Last year it took awhile for the food to come out, I got the shrimp and grits which tasted great. This year I got the fish and grits, the fried catfish tasted fantastic but the grits tasted really bad, not sure what they did differently with that but it's ok. It was a very mediocre to poor experience, including the very flat customer service provided by the waitress Erinisha. For the breakfast prices, the dishes should at least be served with a side, bread, garnishments...just something!! We ordered 3 omelets, and that's what they served...just an omelet in a bowl...nothing spectacular about presentation. The food was very tasteless and definitely not worth the price. We are sad to be leaving New Orleans but we had to get something to eat before our trip back to the frozen chosen of Ottawa. We were told that Leah's was where we should go for breakfast. Wow and wow. For an airport restaurant I normally set my expectations low but this place was wonderful. Great service, clean tables, cold beer and hot coffee - fantastic start. My wife ordered a la carte but I got the pulled pork Benedict...... OMG. Absolutely perfect. Eggs were poached perfectly, the pulled pork was incredible, my wife loved her breakfast - no complaints at all. The quality of everything was like a brick and mortar restaurant- outstanding stuff. Went here this past Sunday on our way back from NOLA. Loved our food yet again! So, so, so delicious and plentiful! Got the Creole Shrimp this time (on their breakfast menu) and it was so good! Having been here before, we knew to leave PLENTY of time to get seated/eat/pay the check. This is NOT a fast establishment. They likely could use an extra couple of servers when they are packed which would help with speed. So if you have a flight that's about to start boarding in the next 30-45 minutes or so, you may want to go to one of the more grab-and-go places in the airport instead. read more
