They have got good authentic Chinese food. Not too many options for Szechuan dishes. And if you are someone who likes the spicy flavor, make sure to ask for extra spicy. This review is for the Weekday Lunch specials. I came here with coworkers around 11:30 on a weekday. The inside of the restaurant is small, so there weren't many tables available. But they were able to seat us immediately. I was delightfully surprised by the prices for the lunch menu. All of the lunch entrees are $5.95 from 11-3pm M-F. I ordered the Garlic Sauce with Chicken (which came with red/green peppers and onions) & Fried Rice. I also ordered a bowl of Egg Drop soup for $.99. Can't beat that! The service was fast and our waiter was patient and great at explaining the lunch items, as this was most of our first time eating there. The lunch portions are quite large for the price. The garlic sauce with chicken was very flavorful and not too spicy. I do wish the entree had came out a little warmer, but that wasn't a big issue. The egg drop soup was so good as well! This is the most authentic szechaun place in Charlotte. I am actually very surprised this place exists since Charlotte does not have a large asian population at all but I am so happy they are here! They provide lunch specials and the more American chinese takeout options but they also have a menu full of sze chuan specialties! We got the garlic eggplant, ganguo cauliflower and pork belly, and lazi chicken. Everything was good, their eggplant is on point, it was $9, cauliflower and pork belly was very good but was $20 so a little steep, and lazi chicken was actually my least favorite, about $9. Everything could have used more spiciness! I feel like they have been forced to tone it down because of the majority of the their clientele. Parking is shared with the Publix next to it. She mentioned that it was an old menu and the price was higher. When we went to eat the order, the chicken and white rice was overcooked. Un-eatable, went into trash. When I called and spoke to the man on phone all he kept telling me that he would tell manager, sorry it was cooked wrong and that we had pulled up wrong menu on the web. This is our new go to place for authentic Chinese food. Yes, they have American style Chinese food (Orange Chicken, General Tsos, etc) but the star of the show is their authentic Chinese food. We had the Fried Soft Shell Crab, MAPO Tofu, and a Chili Poached Fish dish. All the then were served with your choice of rice and each had great flavor. The service was fantastic. I always come here for order Togo. This is very first time I have someone be very rude to me on the phone when I'm placing an order. I have order spicy fired fish here plenty of time and never had a problem, but the lady on the phone was being very rude and yelling at me saying that we don't have that and I try to explain to her what is it and she still determined that they don't have the dish. I don't think any customer deserve to be yell at on the phone. And when I ask for the manger the other lady has step in was like oh is the manger day off but you can talk to me, as I was telling her what's the problem she didn't even knowledge me at all. I go to this place about once a week- meaning I cannot get enough. It is my favorite lunch spot in the area. They have great specials, and I strongly suggest the only one on the special menu that is off their "traditional" menu- the Mapo Tofu, which is everything I want in a dish: salty, savory, and spicy (only slightly in this case). It has great texture, and is topped with chili and pork, if you are unfamiliar. I always get the hot and sour soup as well. Though, nothing on the menu is bad, and I have done my best to sample everything. Well, I got take out for Mothers Day last week. Had to wait 10 minutes just to pick the food up as they were so slow at the register taking an order and answering the phone. Got the food home to the family and poured the red sauce over the chicken, and right on top was a big dead BUG. Called around 8, was told they were too busy to worry about it. The next day could only get voice mail, so I told them online on facebook -- which is acknowledged as red. Here, a week later, no response, no apology, no refund. We made a reservation for a party of 8 at Lee Cafe on a weekend and unfortunately when we arrived they weren't ready for us (causing us to wait 15-20 minutes for a table). This place is popular, but well deserved. Located in a grocery store shopping center, it's a hole-in-the-wall joint. The atmosphere, location, decor or even service won't draw you back, but the food will! Make sure you ask about their hot pot specials or additional evening specials. And check out the "classic dishes" portion of the menu. I highly recommend the Shanghai Cabbage, Double Cooked Pork and the Beef Chow Fun is delicious. The Szechuan Spicy Fish Fillet is good, but I thought the other dishes were much more flavorful while this was more for "show". I would say, it's hard to go wrong here, ask the servers for recommendations [or look at Yelp photos!]. Truly an 'Ahhh' moment! I've been on a mission to find a decent Chinese take out restaurant on my side of town for YEARS! I have to admit I'm pretty picky when it comes to Asian food; being half Asian nothing is as good as mom makes. Lee's Cafe filled that void. Stopped in for lunch with my 14 y/o son. My son rated his General Tsos chicken a 5 out of 5, and I also gave my Sha Cha Chicken a 5/5. Servings were a perfect size for a lunch. Who knew there was a hidden gem located right down the street! I saw an article about Lee Cafe in the Charlotte Observer when i realized i lived close by. I just got the regular garlic chicken and it was very good. The place was packed on a weeknight when i was there and it took a long time before someone took by to go order but now i know to just call ahead. The menu is extensive and it looks like there are a lot of great choices but a lot of the cuisine sounded unfamiliar to me so next time I go I will bring a friend who knows a bit more about each dish so i can branch out from the basic americanized chinese dishes read more

I am of Chinese heritages from Taiwan and have been in the US for 14 years living in Texas and Virginia. This is hands own the most authentic Chinese restaurant I have been to. I literally stuffed my face and had a tummy ache b/c I could not stop myself. Ha da down the best Chinese food I've had in North or South Carolina. If you're from the Northeast this is pretty much the closest thing you'll find. The restaurant is in a shopping center and appears to be nothing and then you walk in and the place is packed.
