Left Coast is another solid South County brewery. I plopped down on the couch in their tasting room and enjoyed my Saturday sipping brews and eating pretzels. The beers were good and the tasting room had that laid back Orange County vibe. I really really wanted to try the South County IPA, but they were out. I guess I will have to wait for the next batch. Anyways, I ordered an OC IPA and wasn't disappointed. The beer had a nice fruity, slightly hoppy taste and wasn't overly bitter. The OC IPA is very drinkable and I would definitely order it again. I will definitely be back, hopefully to try to the South County IPA that eluded me this time. read more

I really liked the Left Coast tasting room. The best thing is that they have lots of other choices that you cant find in the stores. Don't worry, they also have their beers that they sell in the stores so you can drink that if you aren't wanting to try something new. Each of the 7 beers we tried were delicious. Lots of different variety, everything from a fruit beer to a double IPA. You can get tasters, two different sizes of glasses as well as growlers. The service was good and the tasting room was very welcoming. They have the seats at the bar as well as tables. You can watch a game here since they have two TVs over the bar. The Cherry Poppins is the worst beer that I have ever had--it tasted like chemicals, and it ruined my palate for additional sampling. :-( We did like the Voodoo Stout and the Asylum Belgian Tripel, but overall we were not impressed. The service was just ok. The beer was good. I liked the barrel aged Huntsman. The food was horrible and mediocre at best. What a waste of money and food. The chicken sandwich from what I hear was gross. Another person in my party also had a rare burger. He sent it back and it came back medium rare in some parts and well in others. My burger was rare and I just sent it back and refused anything else. I mean seriously how hard is it to cook a burger. The only good thing about the burger was the bacon it had a sweet and slightly spicy glaze on it. It fried pickles were weird. The frings with brisket was the only thing I tried that seemed semi decent. I might go back to watch a game or have a few beers but their food needs help. They have IPAs for days at this place that's forsure. But are they all great? Not so much. They definitely pulled off the triple IPA which is difficult so that was a star. The nuclear chichis was also great another star there. And the voodoo stout was very tasty! Another star there. Other than those the other beers were simply alright. Vibe is quiet and low-key kinda romantic actually with the lighting they had. They also were doing yoga on tuesday night when I went which was a little weird for me. We came here after a hike and shared the space with an engagement party. They got their guests bracelets for beers. We were easily able to find a spot and were served promptly. I tried their Hop Juice (10 oz since it was 10% ABU) and a 5 oz of the Trestles. I have never had their beer, but I had seen Trestles in stores. Both beers were pretty solid. They have several IPAs and stouts. Since I don't love stouts, it was hard to find a beer that stood out otherwise. Their beers are pretty solid with the basic IPA flavor, almost non-distinct, but I can't say I loved any of them. read more

pretty good beer, decent prices, and a large tasting room. beer flights were very reasonably priced (6 beers for $10, excludes barrel aged brews), and they have a few tasty beers like the voo doo american stout and asylum belgium tripel. another plus for me is that they don't allow anyone under 21 in the tasting room -- no exceptions. nothing ruins a nice beer tasting experience like a screaming kid running underfoot, causing a ruckus while the parents do nothing about it. i gotta give them props (and a star) for that. so why only 2 stars? well, it's a weird, weird place. service is unbelievably bad and that just ruins everything. if you aren't a regular, prepare to stand at the bar for several minutes before even being acknowledged. after ordering, be prepared to wait for at least 5-10 minutes more while the servers chat with their regular customers, refill their beers, and hang out for a bit before filling your order. it was so, so annoying. the crowd was older, very white, and possibly the least hipster group of people i've ever seen. the TVs were showing professional bull riding. i could have easy been in the middle in indiana instead of OC. several of the other customers kept people staring at us and giving us the stink eye, like we didn't belong there. hint taken -- i won't be back! read more

Our party of 7 arrived for tastings on a Saturday afternoon. The computer system was down and the cashier was unable to serve anyone drinks unless they were cash only. We waited for approx. 45 minutes for the computer system to come back online, but still no dice. During our 45 minute wait, we trying flagging down the cashier to let him know we would pay cash, thus allowing us to purchase tasters. The cashier looked like a deer in the headlights and didn't even acknowledge us. Let me make this clear again, we are trying to give the casier money to buy beers but he was just washing dishes and cleaning the bar. Fortunately a manager came and assisted us after our 45 minute wait, but this single cashier is totally incompetent. Solid beers but horrible service. read more

While the beers here are pretty dang good such as the Almond blond, voodoo stout, and Raspberry wheat, the situation we ran into while checking this place out was a buzz kill. It just so happens that while we were visiting, the computer systems decided to crash. Not too hard to workaround this common problem right? Nope. The young male bartender here had absolutely no idea what to do. You would think one would start a "cash" only purchase or start a written tab so that when the computers finally come back online, you'd be able to pay by card (the lost art of a pen and paper). Reasoning was out of the question and he simply ignored us for the next 45 minutes while we stood in line, all the while serving patrons sitting at the bar. Can you imagine how irate we got after noticing the "selected" service? The manager was able to sort things out after he arrived, but the experience was already soured like a sweaty armpit. You can definitely tell this is spot for locals. It makes sense as it's the only legit brewery for folks this far south without having to go to SD or going all the way north to Karl Strauss or Noble Ale Works or Valiant. This is truly a brewery, which means there are no cheese sticks, pizzas, salads, or other pub like food. There are bags of chips, pretzels, and there might be some sort of food vendor set up outside. Other than that, you come here for beer and good times. You hear me? Beer and good times! The beers range from light and drinkable to heavy and hoppy. They're most known for their Trestles IPA, which is a little too hoppy for me, but is a cult favorite among die hard IPA'ers. Personally, the Brown I Girl is something special. A nice Brown with a little somethin special, but not much that you wonder if you're drinking an IPA. Nicely done. Anyway, I'll definitely be checking this place out again.
