I almost want to gatekeep this place but it was so busy I'm sure people know about it already! Dropped by on a late Saturday morning, small line inside but by the time we moved up the line was out the door. Everything we tried was delicious! Staff were also so friendly and welcoming. There are a handful of tables and seats inside if you'd like to enjoy food there. Definitely recommend the cinnamon rolls, you won't regret it. read more

My husband and I shared: - Egg Bun - Ube Cinnamon Roll - Mango Pineapple Bun The egg bun and mango pineapple bun were both good, but the bread was a little bland. The star of the show was the Ube Cinnamon Roll. It's one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. I hate dry cinnamon rolls and this one was nice and gooey. It had a ton of cinnamon and a ton of ube frosting. I wish we had gotten there earlier to try the donuts and malasads, but they were sold out. I'd definitely come back to try more. read more

On the third island of our trip, we came upon Lele's. Our group of five was incredibly impressed by the quality of the food. I'm vegetarian and had the focaccia pizza and a jalapeño bagel. It was truly the best breakfast I've had since arriving here several days ago. Seating is limited, but tables turn over quickly. The fresh flowers on each table were an added bonus. read more

Wow another 5 star spot in Kona! I am blown away by the ube cinnamon roll and I've crinkle cookie. The vibe of this bakery is cozy and plenty of space to sit and enjoy your treat! So happy we were able to grab some items since they had a busy morning, came in about 11:30am and over half of everything was sold out! read more

Kona finally has a great bakery! I just left the opening of this wonderful little bakery. They have been around for two years selling at the local farmer's markets, but just now opened their own shop. Which is great for us that don't want to wait until Saturday to get our fix. They make the absolute best Ube cookies anywhere on the island. I also love their scones, apple fritters, and quiche. My friends from New York claim the bagels here are just as good as their home town. I am so thrilled that they are nearby and open nearly every day. Oh and the owners told me that they will be a full cafe in a couple of Months with sandwiches and other more substantial foods. I am looking forward to seeing how it evolves. And for now I am very happy with the baked goods. read more

Really great pastries, but I wish they displayed them a bit better. Items are laid out on a counter with fly fans, so they're open to people breathing on them or flies landing. I'm sure neither of those happen often, but enclosing items would minimize the possibility. Staff and ambience were great, good amount of seating and parking lot parking. I loved the lilikoi blueberry danish and honey bun. I would go back if ever in the area. read more

We wanted to buy a donut and found out they had bagels which we love. The interior is bland at the moment since they are setting up in their first brick and mortar. We requested the everything bagel to be toasted and add regular cream cheese. It took awhile to get the bagel and it came with a small container of cream with a plastic knife so we can add it. I wish they would just ask if you want lite, medium, or heavy cream cheese added so we wouldn't have to fuss with it. The bagel was good and chewy with a salty flavor to it. read more

If you come to the Big Island you have to make a stop at this bakery. They have so many options from pastries, donuts, cookies, bagels and breakfast goodies. I got the egg bun with egg cheese and tomato's and it was so tasty. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito (which they only make on weekends. We stopped there twice :)). The salsa that comes with the burrito was so good as well if you want some on the side it costs $2 extra. So worth it! The workers were all very warm and friendly. When people say this is the best I've ever had blah blah, I used to think It's so lame that I don't & won't use this phrase ever, but me so sorry. They serve the best Cinnamon roll in my entire life. Timing matters of course, so I tell you that was when someone brought it back home around midday. I ate just the way it was, no re-baking or microwaving. The people in this bakery show so much Aloha! I just flew in from Oahu, the we took an uber here from the airport so we could wait for my family to come from Cali. Their cinnamon rolls are SO good! Did a little day trip to Kona from Hilo and randomly came across this place--and wow, what a find. From the moment we walked in, everything was amazing. The shop itself is beautiful, the vibes were great, and the staff made the whole experience even better. The guy who helped us was seriously the sweetest and so helpful; we had to ask him for recommendations on the ube and the bagels, and he did not steer us wrong. Every single thing we got was incredible--so good that we ended up eating everything before we even made it home. Not a single disappointment. You can really tell how much care goes into what they make. Amazing food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and such a welcoming atmosphere. This place is 100% worth the stop, and we already can't wait to come back! read more

Glazed doughnut was straight action and was very unique had a little snap to the bite which I really enjoyed with a delicious vanilla glaze. Banana bread also tasted different from what I am accustomed to since it was a little more dense than normal which I loved. The ube crinkle cookie is hands down best in the biz. Ok so I came back! And wow the food was just as good as it was the first time! The pastry selection was on point, and the service was exceptionally friendly - even by Hawaiian standards because everyone here is already super friendly ;) I'm more of a sweet and spicy girl so my go to order here are the ube cookies, cinnamons rolls, and/or jalapeño cheese bagels. Whatever you order, do not get the chocolate chip cookies. It tasted like some sort of detergent and hardly any chocolate chips. The coffee was hot but the cup disintegrated shortly after we left the shop. It fell apart inside the rental car.

Kona Coffee & Tea was the place of choice here in Kailua-Kona. Located at the Kona Coast Shopping Center, you can find this little coffee shop just next door from KFC. The coffee shop is easy to find, as other business surrounding this business is the KTA Superstore, Hele Gas Station, HFS Federal Credit Union, O'Reilly Auto Parts, as well as many numerous eateries. It was late in the afternoon, so I basically came here for some drinks. I had to try their Kona Coffee, and I must say it did not disappoint! The coffee shop has indoor, as well as covered outdoor seating. The shop does sell some food items, but I did not partake or looked at what they had to offer. There was also coffee shop merchandise, but I did not have time to take a look at what they had to offer. The seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, kimchi, and kimchi mussels were all good. Fairly simple to order: bowl vs plate (1 side for bowl and 2 sides for plate, 2 servings of poké). Brown vs white rice. Top shelf: sides. Bottom shelf: poké. They also offer a variety of sauces for your poké. They are all pretty good, but my favorite was the avocado aioli. The wet Hawaiian and Pele's kiss were also good per family. Definitely worth trying and repeating. Personally, I prefer this poké place over Pau Hana Poké. Service was nothing spectacular, just efficient and busy. No small talks here.

I am definitely coming back again for more of this. I've never had ube in this format before, but the mild sweetness of the potato came through, and I enjoyed the chunky mashed potato texture. The next item I liked from the plate was the mac salad. I can't remember the last time I've had mac salad with this much black pepper sprinkled throughout it. The black pepper brought an unexpected amount of heat. Additionally, I thought the noodle were cooked perfectly. In most mac salads that I've had, the macaroni has been cooked far too long, but that was not the case here. I also appreciate that the mac salad was not drowned with mayo, another flaw I commonly see with this dish. Although the poke here is fresh, and the pieces are nicely cut -- all uniform in size, I thought the poke was a bit too salty, and needed to be enjoyed with the rice. The rice itself was a bit on the mushy side. Overall, we had a pretty solid meal at Paakai Poke & Deli. If you're in this area, stop by for the coconut ube -- you won't regret it.
