Hidden little place. The spot is really cute. I ordered their shrimp lunch special. It came with salad, and two sides - I got hummus and the eggplant. It was $19.00. The food was tasty and fresh. I personally did not like the eggplant because it had too much onion but everything else was pretty good. I would say the portion was good too. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I think $19.00 is expensive for a lunch special. I would not spend that much on lunch every day. Decided to BBQ but after an exhausting day, we didn't want to spend time making sides. We wanted something delicious and quick for pickup. So we decided to just order a couple of sides to go with our BBQ lamb, chicken, and beef. I love how you can order à la carte (they have an entire section) from Lemon Zest Cafe. We ordered the basmati rice, sautéed veggies, hummus, and flat bread for pickup. It was ready in 20 min! All of the food was delicious and prepared with great quality. It went perfect with our BBQ! Dinner was amazing, easy, easy cleanup. Side note: Great customer service as well! The ChowNow website was acting up and tried to charge me 3 times. How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers​ boxed to take home? As a dog owner,​ I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "you give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea...​ I hope you agree. So If I had the say on this portal, I would offer just to see ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this simply does not compare to "The Ritz". I've been coming here for a year now and at least once a month. The quality here has been consistent and hasn't changed since I started coming here. With a very narrow window of time to eat dinner, my friend and I descended upon Lemon Zest Café, another of many Yelp finds. We were headed to Glendale, and this was very close to our destination. My friend ordered a chicken wrap, although I'm not sure specifically which one, while I ordered a lamb gyro (I didn't know there was any kind of gyro other than lamb, but apparently here, there is.) Regardless, it was very tasty, especially with it being loaded with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, feta cheese and Persian yogurt. It was served with potato chips, which I found to be a funny, strange accompaniment to a Mediterranean dish, but I'll go with the flow. The place is small, and because the indoor dining area was quite stuffy, we ate outside, which was very pleasant. They were a little on the slow side in getting us our food, but honestly, part of that might've been that we were somewhat pressed for time and didn't want to have to wolf down our food. I love this new gem!! I had a friend in town and we both were looking for a vegetarian restaurant and I knew I wanted to try somewhere new. I found this place nearby on Yelp and I'm a huge fan of falafel and greek salads. Lemon Zest is wedged between a building an apartment complex. There is street parking available along the busy street. When you walk up to the restaurant there is a cute outdoor seating area with about 3 or 4 iron tables and chairs. Once I'm inside it had a Lemonade themed feel but it was really cute. There were two tables along the front door window then two more two-top tables along the other wall. A glass water dispenser with plastic cups was available next to the what appeared to be a dish bin. The cashier told us about the current lunch special, now yall know I love a good deal. The lunch special is available Mon-Fri 11am-3pm. Even without the lunch special, the prices are reasonable. I ordered the Veggie Plate $13.99 with roasted eggplant and greek salad. With the lunch special, you have the choice of Basmati Rice or Greek Salad. My friend ordered the Chipotle Chicken Wrap with a greek salad. The plate was visually colorful and looked amazing. It was so pretty and passion filled that I didn't want to eat it. It came with a great portion of a greek salad, a romesco type sauce, hummus, pita bread, roasted eggplant, onion, red bell peppers, squash, and falafel. Everything was soooo delicious that I ordered an additional plate to go. Very great experience and with a smile. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this place. Disappointed to say the least. This place got worse each time I tried it. I ordered the same thing each time, and it was like it was completely different each time, different ingredients. Consistency should be important. The roasted veggies are overcooked and the watery iceberg lettuce is bland. The falafels are sometimes good, sometimes dry. The fries and tahini sauce are very good. I ordered a wrap this last time, "vegan" as you can choose online. It said "vegan" all over my order. I got this with a side of fries. I get there, they say they're out of fries so they gave me a salad. I'm disappointed because I love the fries and didn't understand why I was able to order them if they didn't have them. But I say, oh well, it's okay, thanks. I get home and open my food, and the salad is covered in cheese. Why would you put cheese on the side salad if my order said it was vegan? How does that make any sense? Why do you advertise vegan options if your employees don't understand what vegan means? I just don't even trust them to correctly make my food at this point. Most of the employees working here just have the biggest attitudes. I tip 20% every time, and they can see that on my order, yet they are unfriendly and don't even crack a smile when you go in. Every time I order from this place they mess something up, my order is never correct. If you ask for no yogurt, they will put extra yogurt. If you ask for extra sauce they will put no sauce at all. Don't like leaving negative reviews but they deserve it. The food is never consistent, they change the recipe every time. Today was the last straw for me. Also, it says lunch specials Monday - Friday between 11am-3pm but they did NOT honor the lunch special this Monday. I'm guessing because it was Memorial Day Weekend? But still ... irks me as a customer. We ordered the chicken chipotle wrap and shrimp kabob plate. I think for the chipotle chicken wrap ($8.50), you're getting your moneys' worth for the amount of food and "fresh taste". But there wasn't any hint of amazing/mind blowing flavors from the wrap. I could taste a particular paste-like ingredient in the wrap but it wasn't anything to enhance the overall wrap. The shrimp kabob plate was quite bland. The shrimps were smaller than expected for $15 and they were all a little too salty. It came with a large portion of rice and salad, but that honestly didn't make up for the lacking flavors. Also, I don't think $15 is worth it even for the large side portions because rice and salad don't cost that much combined. I thought the truffle parmesan fries would be a hit, but it was just drenched in parmesan sauce. I had this place bookmarked for a while because the pictures and reviews make it look amazing, so I finally stopped by to try it with my friend on a Friday afternoon. The inside was decorated in a very modern way and it had a lighthearted feel to it. I thought "wow I like this place already." I was in the mood for a good sandwich so I ordered the falafel gyro, and my friend ordered the chicken kabob lunch special. If you look over the counter you can see all the ingredients freshly cut and just waiting to be made into a delicious meal. We received our food within 10 minutes. The gyro was full of delicious ingredients and the falafel was soft and flavorful, leaving me extremely satisfied. My friend said that her food was also very good. Delicious, healthy, mediterranean food! The staff (and who I'm assuming was the owner) sounded like they were Persian-Armenian. They were all very friendly and gave us a warm hello and goodbye. I have found my new favorite place!!! Who knew being vegan would be so delicious. From the minute I walked into Lemon Zest Cafe I was captivated. How can a compact place feel so big and alive? The white tables and the green hedge wall and the lemons laying around give this place such happy and bright vibes. They even have a small boxed garden behind the window! But more importantly the staff is unbelievably nice and helpful. They helped us pick the best dishes. I got the veggie plate since I'm on lent and I'm going vegan for now and my fiancé got the chicken shawarma. While we waited we talked to the girls behind the counter about the history of how the cafe started and what's their top sellers. I noticed that the place was packed. I mean really packed. Everyone who has ordered their food, had finished it but they didn't want to leave. They enjoyed sitting there and mingling. I loved seeing that because that told me that the atmosphere is just that: the cool hang out place that serves good food. Our orders came out, and all I saw were hearts on my plate. Heart shaped falafel!!!! How creative is that?! They took something that's been around for god knows how long and put a fun creative twist to it. It seriously made the falafel taste 10x better. And by the way, my dish was massive. I mean my fiancé ate his chicken shawarma, and I mean he devoured it, and helped me finish my plate and we still had leftovers.
