Without it, it's your average candy store with very sweet employees (not that that's a bad thing!). My wife and I stopped at Len Libby's en route to Portland. As a chocoholic, I was very excited to see Lenny the Moose, and it was pretty neat! A giant, chocolate moose. How very Maine! We took photos with Lenny, and tried some of the chocolates as well. The maple-filled chocolate were awesome, and the other chocolate-covered items were delicious. Great stop if you are trying to maximize road side attraction photos for your vacation. Lenny the Moose and his bear and cubs friends make for great photos and, frankly, smell divine. We grabbed a small piece of fudge and a couple chocolate for the road. I didn't find the prices as extreme as other reviewers; yes, the chocolate is more expensive than what you'll find on the shelf at the drugstore, but I found it to be more or less in line with similar speciality shops. read more

How may I get a 1700 lb chocolate moose on the top of my car? What a conversation piece that would be, and the ride home would smell wonderful. Great store, with friendly sales folk. You have to watch the video on how the moose was made; it's interesting and funny. We picked up some chocolate and peanut brittle too, and it only made it as far as the hotel. This really is the complete candy store experience. I don't think I've seen so much different candy! =) I picked up the HUUGE candycanes for my roommates and myself. Loved the blueberry flavor. Somehow, I managed to miss seeing Lenny though. :P But I loved it here. I just wish I could afford more. hahha. They have classic candy like ribbon candy too! I loved the blueberry chocolates. Very sad !!! Drove many miles to see the chocolat mouse. Turns out they put a hat on the poor thing to celebrate his birthday last month and refuse to take the hat off. Not even for European guests to make a awesome picture of the massive chocolat structure. read more

This place is amazing! There are so many options to choose from with chocolate selections, truffles, fudge, and so much more. I've gotten Christmas and valentines presents here, and they do not disappoint! They even have a great selection of sugar-free candy for the type one diabetic's in my life. The chocolate ships great - I sent some to friends in Iowa and they arrived in good shape. And, I'm always impressed with the life-size chocolate moose and bear cubs on display! Cute place, lots of nice candies, moose is a pretty photo op. The Maine Taffy samples were EXCELLENT. Like that they have a working 100 year old taffy puller. REAL Salt Water Taffy made here. Not too much in the sugar free area and I'd love to see salt added stop the SF chocolates. There's a nice bathroom outside and gas station across the street FYI. It was worth the stop. read more

We have been coming to Len Libby for years. First trip back to Maine in 7 years. Len Libby's is bigger and busier! They now sell salt water taffy - pick it yourself in barrels! Very, very fresh. I may never go back to the other candy store in OOB! Lots of chocolates. Novelties such a lobster gummies. Great place to pick up your edible souvenirs! Prices are about average for a candy store, but most items are probably made onsite, so that is worth paying for. We did not try their ice cream so no rating for that. Serving ice cream is also a change since we were last there! read more

It is what it is...a tourist attraction. I stopped here on my way home from Portland. I have a thing about moose so I needed to see the chocolate moose in person. It didn't occur to me that it was actually a candy shop until I got there. I wanted to get a chocolate moose, but I couldn't justify spending $7 on it. I settled for a couple of truffles and maple popcorn, instead. It was worth the stop, just for the moose. read more

I would have given 5 stars if they shipped year round. I only get back once every 5+ years so it's a relief that all the family favorites are still open like LenLibby's. Every time I pop a Bangor taffy piece in my mouth it takes me back to being a kid. Stealing pieces out of the box that my mom kept "hidden". Summers in Maine and Bangor taffy melting in my mouth. Stopped by here for a treat on the way out of portland. This shop hosts a huge chocolate moose with accompanying bears made of chocolate too. There's also homemade ice cream in the back and a bunch of homemade candies. The blackbeary ice cream is so good, you have to try it. We also got the needham ice cream, but I am not a fan of dessicated coconut. Dad says it is really good though. Try out some of their chocolates. I would not buy a whole bunch, but get a small bag to snack on! I recommend the chocolate covered marshmallows and the dark chocolate with raspberry jelly. Haply eating! read more

As a person who lived in Alaska for 8 years, I saw a lot of moose. This one isn't quite life size. Rick said to give the poor guy a break because he was standing in the water. I say he needs to be 4 inches taller. We were staying in a nearby hotel and thought it would be fun to go check out the moose. The sales lady said it was solid chocolate and weighed 1700 pounds. The mother bear weight 380 pounds and the cubs weighed 80 pounds each. Total weight 2220 pound at $25 a pound for chocolate. Grand total $55,500, now add in the pond and we are looking at $60,000 for this display.(just the information I got from the sales lady) Now I must say I think I gained 10 pounds just smelling all the wonderful chocolates. There was lots to choose from and a nice gift store too. I'm sure next time I am in town, I'll visit Lenny again. read more

What has happened to Len LIbby's?! I've been going to this store, and the one that use to be at Higgins Beach, for years. This recent visit to Scarborough Route 1 really left me disappointed. First the cases were minimally stocked and the choices are drastically reduced from what always was their standard. One could always buy individual pieces of fudge from the case and make a box but that no longer is offered. The staff directed me, once they found it, to limited choices of prepackaged only. Who ever heard of a candy store not loaded with fudge ?!! We bought one of the $12 packs of chocolate/peanut butter. It made its way to the trash after sitting on our counter a week. We couldn't taste any peanut butter. It clearly wasn't made by Len Libby just has their label on it. Their once delicious Swiss Fudge with nuts isn't to be had. So we left realizing this is an era past and will miss it. We have since given Haven's Candies a try at the Cabelas shopping area. OMG they have the very delicious Swiss Fudge I've enjoyed for years!! Plus lots of the very choices we could select at Len Libby's at one time. The shelves are stocked high, the choices endless, the innovation of flavors and items abundant. Not sure but it looks and tastes like maybe the candy maker has defected to the competition. Were just glad we discovered Haven's and from now on every time we want our stash of confections we know where to find it. read more

Amazing!!!!! We got there a little early and the workers greated us as they went in. Very friendly. Nancy even offered to take our picture by the moose. The 1700 lb chocolate moose is worth seeing if you're in the area and the chocolates themselves are extremely good - I guess I can only speak for the dark chocolate technically ;-). The candy is good...because it's candy. Disappointed that a big place like this for tourists has no customer restroom! We had to leave to the convenience store and come back. We haven't sample a ton of the sweets, but we tried a few, and as expected, they were delicious. The Oreo fudge was very sweet and satisfying, although fudge is an acquired taste. The reason for this low rating stems from a few problems: namely, the price. Everything was ridiculously costly here, and it completely made customers not want to make any purchases. For instance, fudge was $12 something a pound, and a handful of chocolate dipped blueberries were $8.50. Of course there are always pricey places, but it didn't even appear that these products were of superior quality. In addition, while the store was definitely organized, it was confusing and the system was not apparent to the customers. And lastly, the teenage staff seemed timid and was unable to help with questions we had about flavors, etc. The staffing here was not appropriately distributed throughout the store, I would have to say. The chocolate moose is really not all that exciting, on another note, so don't be fooled. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY HERE. Average tasting chocolate not worth the price. Management needs to take a serious look at the quality of staff that they hire to work the counters and take orders from customers. Teenage girls with princess like attitudes should be the opposite of what you hire to work a place like this. We were so turned off by both the bland chocolate and the lousy staff that we walked out. We wanted to buy chocolate for gifts but you know what? Godiva is better all around so we ended up there. Deserves zero stars. read more

Ordered a hot fudge sundae today. There was barely any fudge sauce on it. The clerk put the ice cream in the dish, then topped with whipped cream. She drizzled a barely there amount of sauce on top of the whipped cream. Maybe a teaspoon of fudge sauce. At almost $6 for a sundae, there needs to be topping on it! read more
