    Soft, sweet plantains

It reminded me of my 2-week visit to Peru. The chicken was cooked in a brick oven with wood and charcoal and was perfectly prepared. The Pisco Sours were well made: I hadn't had one for many years. Our server was one of the best I've had in a long while. The plantains were outstanding. Finally, the ambience was enjoyable with rotating big screen pictures of Peru. As you can conclude, I had a wonderful, fun experience here and we will be back.

Came here on a Friday night for dinner. The place wasn't packed and we were given a table right away. Our waitress was not the nicest - I asked for tap water and she tried to convince me to get a bottle instead but I told her tap was fine (other people had tap water, and I've had it before as well) and she rolled her eyes at me which was very rude. We waited to get the check for over 10 minutes, and had to waive down her manager to get it because she wasn't coming to our table. This place already includes an 18% tip, which seems unfair considering the treatment you're receiving. We ordered a tacu tacu with lomo and it was okay at best - for $22 it wasn't worth it nor anywhere compared to others I've had at Peruvian restaurants in Jersey. Again, the manager was good, but the girl we had wasn't (red hair). Unfortunately, we will not be coming back.

I passed by this place many times, but never get the chance to try it.. and finally!! It was really a pleasant surprise! The decor is cute.. love the llama at the front!! With the music playing in the background really do make you want to dance :) It's good that I came with someone who speak Spanish.. I feel like the waiters feel more friendly when you speak their language!! They are all very kind and explain different dish to my friend's mother.. and I felt like they are becoming friend.. we ordered Lomo satado mixto, Chicharron de pollo, and Arroz con mariscos (like paella).. I have to say they are very very tasty and delicious!! Portion is pretty big (we went for lunch) and we have left over.. I would definitely go back to try other dishes.. I think they said their chicken is special, so I have to try that next time..

Great service! We had a little language barrier and had to ask for another waiter to help us, but everyone was professional and polite. Plus, we got out food and drinks in such a timely manner despite being a group of 10. Noisy, lively, and dim, and there's a fun llama statue to pet! Occasionally they offer live entertainment too. I ordered pollo a lo pobre and it was alright, but the other dishes we had were great! The ceviche, seafood, and steaks and other grilled meats were delicious. For plantain lovers, the maduros and tostones were excellent! To drink I ordered the "chicha morada" and it's like a delicious cinnamon spiced fruit punch. The tres leches was milky and moist, and it definitely makes me want to go back to try the Oreo version. The alfajores were nice caramel filled, powdered sugar dusted shortbread cookies. Unfortunately, their coffee machine wasn't working, and some of their desserts were unavailable.

The food was average compared places in Paterson or Passaic, and the restaurant was large and had a nice atmosphere. the issue is the horrible service. Our waitress took forever to get our order and after she gave us our food she never came back to our table which was annoying because I couldn't get any refills but more annoying because we had to ask other workers for our bill.

We order takeout from this place on a Thursday night and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was ready in like 20 to 25 minutes. Everything came out fresh and hot. For the lomo saltado came with an option of selecting skirt steak or filet mignon, which we got the filet mignon. It was so tender and flavorful. The sauce was delicious with the rice.

3.5 stars, what a great addition to parsippany! In a few months as word gets out this place will be a hot spot. The staff was friendly, but almost a little nervous/ overwhelmed. Our waiter took our order and never returned to check in. The chicha morada was perfection! The spaghetti could have used a bit more flavor it was drenched in sauce but not Much flavor. The pollo a la brasa was good nothing out of this world. The steak did have great flavor and kept me eating well after being full. Definitely would return with more friends to get one of those boats with all the food on it

Had a mini reunion with some friends. The service was a little slow. They had a performer, which was quite loud and was difficult to hear each other talk as we were catching up. Our food and drinks was great! As the night progressed, the ambiance got better. We ended up having an amazing time and a lot of dancing!

    Tostones

The steak was our favorite. The chicken was also very good. Fries were soggy partly because this was takeout. The plantains were delicious. We did not like the tostones. It was very dry. We didn't eat there but the restaurant was very loud. Really nice people.

    18% Service Charge???

My wife and I come to this location often, looking for good food. We knew the restaurant had changed names. It used to be called Mr. Yellow Pepper. The layout remains the same, but the decor and most, if not all, of the cooks, waiters, and waitresses have changed, according to our waiter. The menu has also changed, although some items seemed familiar. Our server was the only recognizable face from the old restaurant. We enjoyed our time and appreciated that we weren't rushed. The food is good, just as it was before. One thing that bothered me and I felt I should share this with you was the bill. Take a look at the attached picture: "18% Service Charge." I asked my waiter what the service fee was for, and he explained that it's distributed among the entire staff. I asked him to remove it because I didn't think it was right. He mentioned that the service fee could not be removed. When I handed him my credit card to pay, he gave me the payment terminal. The first screen displayed four suggested tip amounts. I selected the last option, "No Tip." Normally, I would have easily given him 20% or more in cash. My wife and I dine out often and know that cash tips are preferred. I guess in the end I saved some money. This whole tipping situation is getting out of control. Be forewarned that by dining at this establishment, you are expected to pay an 18% service fee.

WHAT?!? I CANT HEAR YOU!' WHAT DID?? Did I like the food? I don't know because the loud music ruined the experience. We didn't want to be those people but when my head hurts and I can't have a conversation with my family it's hard not to be. ¡¿QUÉ?! ¡¡¡NO TE ESCUCHO!!! ¿QUÉ PASÓ? ¿Me gustó la comida? No lo sé, porque la música alta arruinó la experiencia. No queríamos ser como esas personas, pero cuando me duele la cabeza y no puedo conversar con mi familia, es difícil no serlo.

This place is an embarrassment to all Peruvian restaurants. Ordered ceviche and pollo ala brasa. Ceviche was extremely salty and it had a huge hair. Half white half blonde. Please see pic. Please do yourself a favor and skip this place. Take the drive to Passaic. The manager Vania said she was going to refund me and she never did. Horrible customer service and food.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

When we arrived (around 7pm) there was only one occupied table in the restaurant. The room was cold and drafty, as if they were trying to save money on the heating. We had to change tables twice trying to avoid the chill which was forcing my mother to keep her winter coat on. On our first visit, the breadbasket included some delicious garlic bread. That was gone this time. Previously, the staff immediately set out an ice bucket and glasses when they saw our bottle of white wine. This time we had to ask for both, twice. Throughout the meal, we watched our waiter standing in the doorway to the kitchen engrossed in whatever he was doing with his cell phone. Given that the restaurant was virtually empty, the fact that we couldn't get his attention when we started to have issues was frustrating. I chose the Calamari Chino again as an appetizer. I enjoyed it so much on our first visit that it was the one thing I knew I wanted again. Unfortunately, I ended up sending it back. Although it looked like the same dish at first glance, the crispy and tender calamari I loved the first time was now soggy and rubbery. My mother again went with the Grilled Norwegian Salmon, which she enjoyed. My father had the Paccheri & Shrimp alla Vodka, which is described on the menu as sautéed wild shrimp, over paccheri pasta with a creamy vodka sauce, oyster mushrooms, & green peas. He wasn't a fan of this. It seemed to be missing both the oyster mushrooms, & the green peas. He also described it as being "goopy" and thought it tasted artificially thickened in some way. I ordered the New Coconut Jumbo Shrimp, which is served with grilled asparagus, white rice, in an orange marmalade sauce. I had high hopes for this since coconut shrimp is a favorite of mine. The presentation was quite nice, but the shrimp was overcooked, and the coconut coating was nearly burnt. I believe it had been left in the deep fryer too long. Frankly, if I had not sent back the calamari I would have sent this back as well. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant still looks nice, but it seems like they're just going through the motions now. I don't see us returning.

Even though my usual dining companion and I don't enjoy pizza - due to my lactose intolerance (more on that later) - we finally stopped in for dinner on a recent Saturday night. The restaurant occupies a historic building built in the 1870s that once served as Montville town hall and later became a tavern and inn catering to travelers making their way through northern New Jersey along US Route 202 and the Morris Canal. Today, the Columbia Inn offers diners a great neighborhood pub atmosphere with a lively bar scene and an adjacent dining room that can accommodate larger parties in a casual, family-friendly dining experience. Overall, our food was terrific. My dining companion really enjoyed her St. Peter's fish ($28), a flaky white fish topped with minced garlic, diced tomato with arugula, and a light tomato sauce alongside mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. I ordered the Chicken Scarpariello ($28) -- a very robust sauté of chicken, Italian sausage, and sweet and spicy peppers in a bold, tangy white wine and vinegar sauce -- also served with the mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. Both of us thought our entreés were genuinely delicious. However, we hit a plot twist. Navigating an Italian menu with lactose intolerance is already an extreme sport, but the description of the Scarpariello in the menu looked totally safe. Enter a creative sous chef, who apparently likes to improvise a little off-script. A few bites in, I realized my chicken was secretly wearing a cozy blanket of melted cheese hidden just underneath the sauce. I strive to be the lowest-maintenance diner on the planet and will happily eat around almost anything (while deferring my criticism to a Yelp review) to avoid sending a plate back to the kitchen. I was fully prepared to operationally pick off the cheese and soldier on, but our server, Yuri, caught my look of mild betrayal and swooped in like an absolute hero. He refused to let me suffer through a cheese-scraping mission, insisted on taking my dish back to the kitchen, and had a fresh, dairy-free version out to me in record time and offered his sincere apologies for the snafu. Major credit to Yuri for handling it like a total rockstar. I'm deducting half a star for the stealth cheese surprise and rounding down to 4 stars, but thanks to Yuri's legendary service and the fantastic food, we had a great night and will definitely be back! PRO TIP: The chef seems to enjoy freelancing and dishes may be served with slight variations from the menu descriptions. This has the potential to cause problems for people with food allergies -- so be sure to make your server aware of any specific requests when ordering.

But I was craving Pakistani food the other night and we weren't anywhere we could cook so I started looking for a place in the area that we were staying when I found this restaurant on Yelp after visiting some breweries in and around the area. So I was like, Let's try it out! She agreed and we drove that way. So we walked in maybe 30 minutes or so before closing and placed a to go order because we didn't want to sit down and be rude by keeping them there after closing. The employees were nice and spoke to my girlfriend in Urdu so I have no idea what they were saying tbh. lol. I just know she ordered several things and I was excited to try them all. I stepped away to use the bathroom while she was doing her thing and when I came back out and I noticed it is a very clean place and decorated very nicely. So we went to the car and waited for maybe 15-20 minutes before the food was ready. We left and the food smelled so good on the drive back to the hotel. I was so pumped to eat it. She ordered: - Palak paneer 4/5 - Chicken kebab 3/5 - Basmati Rice 4/5 - Garlic naan 4/5 - Mutton gosth kharhi 3/5 - Keena paratha 4/5 - Gulab jamun 4/5 The food was good but not as good as hers or her mother's. Theirs is really really good! :D The palek paneer was my favorite. The chicken kabobs were okay just a little dry and lacked flavor. The garlic naan was pretty good. The mutton gosth kharhi was decent but this was my first time having it since I rarely ever eat meat, so I can't really compare it to anything I've had. I loved the keena paratha, but it was a little too oily. The rice was good. The gulab jamun was very tasty. This place is good and it's in a cool area on a cool street. Would I come again? Absolutely! It's good food and good service, especially considering it was take out. Shukriya!
