I work in one of the large office buildings next door and we come to Lenny's often for breakfast. Today the owner was the one to "assist" me. We requested three uncomplicated breakfast sandwiches, and a coffee. To start, he did not have rye bread, which wasn't a problem as we chose something else. Each sandwich he asked me to repeat the order no less than three times PER sandwich and he got more of an attitude each time I repeated myself a bit louder. After the wait for making the sandwiches, I gave my, again uncomplicated, coffee order, and he forgot it while walking the 3 feet to the coffee pot. After he asked me AGAIN to repeat myself, which I did patiently, he proceeded to throw a temper tantrum, throw the empty cup at the wall and tell the young woman behind the counter to "finish up this lady". He then stalked back and forth while saying that I was "barking up the wrong tree". I asked the young lady if he was the owner and he said, "You don't know who you're messing with". I calmy stated that he was wildly unprofessional. To wrap up, I don't know whether this particular owner is just a rude, insolent, disrespectful man who chooses to attempt to belittle his customers, or if he just is just overwhelmed and can't handle working the counter. Either way, I advise that if you choose to go here, steer clear of the tall, gray haired man with glasses unless you wish to get disrespected. The other counter people were very nice. Or, go up the street to A&S Deli where all the people are amazing and it's bright and clean. read more

I have tried this place and given it a lot of chances due to convenience, but its really disappointed me every time. Not only is the food mediocre (barley any eggs on the breakfast wraps etc...) but the service is bad also. I called this morning at 6:52 am to make a pick up order and the man who answered the phone said "we don't take pick up orders till 7am and hung up on me". Needless to say I will never be going back. I always get bagels from these guys and they are usually very good. The major downside is the service. It is slow and sometimes gets my order wrong. It wouldn't be such a problem if my orders were difficult, but the bagels more than compensate. If you make it here, definitely try the Bad Boy - ans if you're particularly adventurous, get it with scallion cream cheese. The best! I love the everything and university bagels, but they also have many other fun varieties like jalapeño and cheese, and vanilla and chocolate. I dream of Lenny's. No, no, I'm serious, I dream of Lenny's. HUGE fan of the "my-ex" bagel; cheesy and spicy, and everything nice. Lots of other delicious options as well. If you're a cream cheese fan, they've got you covered (personally recommend the veggie cream cheese). If you're not into that - try one of their daily specials, for the price and portion, it absolutely can't be beat. The guys who work here have always been great - I've called before they were open in the morning and been told, "c'mon in - I'm here." Yes, there's generally a line. And yes, sometimes it gets a little hairy behind the counter, what with all us snotty new yorkers yelling toasted/with light cream cheese - two egg whites, blah blah blah, but, the food is consistently delicious. This is THE BEST. Bagels, muffins etc. Staff are great. I catered my last 2 Christmas brunches from there. I have a "special" order and they always do it perfectly. Service was complete garbage I ordered through uber eats. When I received my order, 2/3 bagel sandwiches showed up, and. I called lenny's and they said they would send the last bagel, but in order to do so I would have to make a duplicate order through uber eats, and he would fix the order, and refund the duplicated order. When I received the second order, not only was the 3rd bagel completely incorrect, but Lenny's didn't refund the second order that was meant to correct the first one! When I called, again, to resolve this issue, the manager who I spoke to originally wasn't able to speak on the phone because he was in the bathroom. So I called again....and again... Long story short he was in the "bathroom" for 4 hours. I got a full refund through my credit card and I will never be using them again. read more

No one writes the orders down and every time I order something, they get it wrong. I go in every Saturday and order pretty much the same thing, which is not a complicated order. Example: Today's order - Sausage egg and cheese with 1 egg, S&P, ketchup on an everything bagel toasted WELL DONE. What was given - mostly egg, sausage, cheese. on a non toasted bagel. No SPK. Just came here for lunch as a first time customer. After being looked at up an down by the two male workers behind the counter, I ordered by everything bagel toasted with two egg whites and a medium coffee with cream and sugar. Seems simple? Apparently not. I got a soggy bagel with fried yellow eggs. I had to give back my bagel for them to remake it. I got egg whites but it was a very, very mediocre bagel and just very blah. I LOVE Lenny's Bagels. I feel like people need to remember it's an upscale bagel shop. It get's busy, yes, but that's because it's good! I don't think $9 for a bagel with eggs, lox, and a large coffee is that crazy. Their menu is awesome- definitely something for everyone. Lots of low carb/low fat options for me, and plenty of giant concoctions for my husband. The food is really good quality. I'm going there for the food- not for the friendly people behind the counter. And Steve, the owners son, has always been really nice and helpful. I also like how they have great food that I can pick up to bring to someones house- like those awesome chocolate covered pretzels that are kind of fancy. And some unique drink choices too. My go to bagel place in the area! The line can get really long but it moves pretty quickly. I go between ordering an egg sandwich on a bagel or a standard cream cheese bagel. I like this place because they offer fun flavors and names. My favorite is the university bagel- it has cinnamon, vanilla and cranberries and I pair it with scallion cream cheese (don't knock it until you try it!). They also have iced coffee all year round for those of us who still drink it when there is snow on the ground. This place does some business! read more
