The furnace in my condo was out. PG&E came out to take a look, and they told me that the surface igniter had gone out due to age. I asked for recommendations on the Rancho Cordova page on Facebook, and was recommended to call and speak to Leo. Leo was friendly and helpful And when I explained the situation, he said, yes, he could definitely help. Even though we are in a cold snap, he said he would come out at the end of his workday. I am a disabled veteran, so it was very nice that he would take a little bit of extra time to help me out. He and his assistant showed up at about 5:30 in the afternoon, and went to work. It took them less than a half an hour, and they were done. I had heat again. *YAAAYYY!!!* with no heat, I had been staying in a hotel the last couple of nights, it was nice to get back home. So I have spent over $1500 with Leonard, for at least three jobs he did for us. Made several recommendations, to my mother-in-law, he also did a job with two other friends in Sacramento. My husband today, calls to make an appointment again and Leonard says, "no I'm not willing to come out to Sacramento." Then proceeds to ask, "was this purchased from Groupon for a tuneup?" My husband advised yes, but his tone was extremely irritated, he then proceeded to inform him, he's not willing to drive to Sacramento for the Groupon's anymore. I also called out to him, advised him I would like to set up an appointment. Since my area code is 916 (which is Sacramento) he asked, "Is this about Groupon?" then proceeded to tell me he won't come out. I was shocked at how he was treating us. I told him, his Groupon is false advertisement, he had been out several times before. I told him I actually don't want his service if this is how I am being treated. We have been recommending Leonard to so many people and I feel like an asshole for it now, because he doesn't have the time, to be bothered, nor does he want to come out to my location at this point. Even though his Groupon, specifically says he will travel up to 20 miles of the ZIP Code 95632. I am only 18 miles away. I explain to him we are repeat customers we have made numerous recommendations, I also made an outstanding review on Yelp as well on Groupon. Praising his service, and for him to just flat out turn us away was extremely disappointing. He then changed his tone and asked, well who are you? Maybe I will come out, only after explaining to him that I provided great reviews for his service. I guess it depends on who you are and who he is willing to help. I told him it shouldn't matter who we are we are calling for his service, on his Groupon it specifically states that he will cover 20 miles away from zip code 95632. Just based on his attitude, I told him never mind we will no longer need his business nor make any more recommendations. I immediately contacted Groupon to explain how the merchant was not being cooperative based on what he is advertising and they refunded me my purchase. I don't know if this guy was having a bad day, his whole attitude was, I don't have time for this, I will not go out, until I started mentioning I made recommendations and reviews, that changed his attitude, but you know what? that shouldn't make a difference at all. Every customer should be treated the same! I would not recommend anyone using his business! Leonard can't even honor what he's advertising, or maybe, possibly consider helping to assist me depending on who I am?! GTFOH I've made tons of yelp reviews and once in a while you always get a business that surprises you with great service and they end up being your go-to person on your phone and is willing to recommend to others. I will never take Leonard Heating & Air into consideration for business and making sure I am sharing my awful experience to make sure everyone on Yelp, my referrals, etc. is totally aware of how I was treated and to avoid this business at all costs. I made a 5 Star rating on Yelp prior to this and I am in communication with Groupon to have it removed or updated. So, Leonard, I hope this refreshes your memory of who I am, and being rude to the wrong people is not a good luck for someone who runs a business. I wish there were 6 stars or more, because Leonard Heating and Air is THAT good. My a/c unit had a bad capacitor and Leonard rushed to the parts store within minutes of them closing. Other places would've said, "we'll try tomorrow." But Leonard got the part, installed it, and didn't charge anything even though the warranty had probably just expired. So I called Leonard bc my heater was having complications. He answered the phone late at night and even came to fix it. Later he replaced it to a new digital wifi thermostat that can be controlled with my iPhone. He is the best when it comes to hvac and he is local! Thankful he is local and has the best customer service Update: called again bc my air was not working right. Needed the motor replaced. We are in Fair Oaks, CA. Remember that cold snap in Dec 2013? Ouch, the temps were getting in the 20s every night? Incredibly cold. We had called Leonard around noon on a Friday and he was willing to see our issue that night! He accommodated our schedule which is quite different from other contractors out there. Last year our heater went out. My wife and I toughed it out like troopers. Fast forward to this winter. Wife is 7 months pregnant, it's cold, and she's cranky. She keeps nagging me when am I going to check out the heater or have someone fix it. I try my best to troubleshoot what I can and get it up and running, checking out youtube, to no avail. I can fix computers, not heaters. I rather spend the money and have someone fix the heater correctly than spend more money repairing damaged blown off roof from a gas leak. By chance I came across a Leonard Heating & Air on Groupon. It's a small business that offered a $39 tune up and maintenance special. For $39 why not have a professional come out and check my whole system to see if it's good to go. I call Leonard on a Wednesday. He was not able to come out since it was already booked up for the day. But he did tell me if it was an emergency, he would come out on Thursday. Thursday was Thanksgiving. Now that's customer service. I didn't want to take Leonard away from his family on Thanksgiving nor did I want to wait around for the heater to be fixed on Thanksgiving. So we schedule an appointment for 2pm Monday. Today, Monday Dec 1, gives me a call ahead of time and tells me he's heading up from Galt and will be here in 20 mins. Leonard shows up on time. He's professional, friendly and courteous. I show him to the attic space in the closet and he starts working right away. About 15 minutes later he comes down and tells me what's wrong with the system. I asked him about price and he said $349 for the part and labor, plus a year warranty. Not know about this unexpected cost, I called my wife and discuss the repair costs, she wants to get the heater up and running ASAP! I asked Leonard if he had the part to repair the unit today and he did not. Not to worry, Leonard said he could pick up the part in West Sacramento and replace it today. I am caught off guard by this. I thought I would have to schedule another appointment as I have with other repair services in the past. About an hour and a half later, due to rush hour traffic, Leonard comes back with the part and installs it within a half hour. The batteries in my thermostat are dead and he replaces them and tests out the unit. A minute later hot air is blowing from all vents. I'm testing the unit as I type this and it's a toasty 82* in here. I'm very satisfied with the professionalism and the time Leonard took to answer all my questions. I will highly recommend him to family and friends. It also doesn't hurt to help small businesses when the other guys charge $85 just to come out and do a diagnosis. Leonard Heating & Air Conditioning is worth every penny. My wife will be happy the house is warm again and won't be so cranky towards me. That in itself is worth the $349. Thanks again Leonard. I wish I had found Leonard heating & air before I went with this other company in Galt (won't mention any names but i wrote a review for them). I called Leonard 10am on Saturday telling him my situation, I have a party in 2 hrs and just discovered that my AC was not working. He came out within the hour and fixed the issue before my party guest had arrived. Not only did he save the day but he did not charge an arm & leg for his services. It is a newer unit that has been giving us grief since the day the install was completed by McDonalds heating. Leonard spent 5 min on the phone with tech support and he confirmed what he suspected. One more 5 star review. You rarely see such great service for such a reasonable price. Leonard spent a couple hours troubleshooting and repairing our A/C system. Replaced a faulty component, recharged the freon. The total bill with parts was less than I thought labor would be to drive 45 minutes each way and spend 2 hours working on our system. A bunch less! I should also note that Leonard came out a prior time and didn't charge us anything because he determined that we had a power issue that he wasn't licensed to repair. He charged us nothing for that visit. At least an hour and a half of his time just to get here and home plus fuel plus an hour spent in our home to figure out that we needed an electrician and advise us on what was wrong. My original HVAC system had taken on a leak in the coils and after a couple of professional opinions it was declared not repairable. So I collected multiple quotes, but my neighbor recommended Leonard and was sharing a story about his "over the top" level of customer service when he worked on her system, and then collected a quote from his as well. Leonard Heating and Air Conditioning came in "significantly lower" than all of the other vendors with a brand for brand comparisons of identical systems. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of going with a smaller independent vendor, but the price difference was too great to pass up. Leonard answered the phone and was able to get to out to the house within 24 hours and did a very thorough inspection of the AC and did all of the work needed at the appointment. We can't say enough good things about Leonard. Our AC went out late Saturday night. I called a couple of the large repair places. One said they answer their phone 24 hours...but forgot to mention that it's just a recording. Another, the answering service said someone would call back in an hour. No call. Still no call 2 days later. Our usual "No Surprise Guys" said we are a preferred customer but they didn't consider our AC being totally out a priority even though we are in a seven day stretch of triple digit temps. BUT!
