A long day touring in nyc required a coffee and snack and Siena Bakehouse seemed to be in order. The staff was warm and welcoming and the array of freshly baked food presented many options. We had the espresso with cold foam and Cortado. The coffee was brewed fresh and absolutely delicious. The almond croissant was crunchy, flaky and light. The center was filled with a fresh tasty almond paste. The croissant topped with the chocolate chip cookie was mind blowing and the prosciutto sandwich with arugula was light tasty and fresh. Cute bake house in Fidi with lots of tarts, eclairs, cakes, and cheesecakes. The fruit tart and lemon tart are perfect. I've gotten them multiple times and enjoyed them so much. Every time I walk by I'm tempted to stop in and get a tart! Would definitely recommend their tarts and then their cheesecake after. Staff is very kind and quick to pack my order. Had a late morning meet up with my Cousin, close to Wall Street. Realized my brain would function better with a great cup of coffee. As I walked out of Rector street station, Siena Bakehouse appeared, and I took that as a sign, to sit, sip, and savor coffee. Siena Bakehouse did not disappoint! Upon arriving the gentleman behind the counter was warm, and delightful. All of the staff are friendly, personable, and take the time to explain where the coffee beans originated. The pastries are next level featuring crème brûlée donuts, croissants filled with nutella supreme, and pistachio fillings. Will try on my next visit! This is also a great place to grab a "better than your local deli" sandwich for lunch. The Prosciutto di Parma sandwich is stacked with high-quality charcuterie and fresh mozzarella, while the Smoked Salmon Everything Croissant offers a bit of decadence for the morning. Cannot go wrong with either choice. The atmosphere is cozy, modern styled cafe with terracotta table tops, floor to ceiling windows that are perfect for watching people stroll by while sipping great artisanal coffee. Beautifully presented pastries and sandwiches. Welcoming service. We were greeted warmly upon entry. We got the prosciutto di Parma sandwich. It was stacked with prosciutto and Parmesan and a generous slice of mozzarella. Warmed just enough to heat the bread, but keep the arugula in tact. My only negative is how gross the chairs are. I'm sure most places I sit my butt are gross, but I prefer not to see the germs. Minus 1.5 stars for them, but, with rounding, that still leaves them with 4 stars. This is only for the donuts. I bought Brioche donuts hoping to fly across the country with the most delicious donuts. I also, based on the reviews, bought one to eat today. I should have just bought the one to eat today. I was expecting a light, fluffy, delicious donut and instead got something that tastes like a day old donut. Buy one, try them out but don't think you are getting a special wonderful donut. Maybe I should have tried the coffee and the croissants instead. The customer service is good and the place looks beautiful. They have some tables to eat at. The place is fairly small and seems to have some wonderful coffee flavors. We've fallen in love with this cute little corner bakery during our 2-week period of frequent visits to downtown nyc. Involved with me dropping wife off and waiting in the car for 30-60 minutes at a time and thank God that Siena is here! Atmosphere (5/5) - I first noticed it while driving by because of their full-length glass facade showing ppl cozy and enjoying their cup of joe and croissants! It's cozy but not tiny, with comfortable seatings. Music not too loud, employees smiling, great vibe. Food (5/5) - I ordered bunch of things so far, starting with - Smoked salmon everything bagel (5/5) - an employee swore his undying love for this one when asked btwn that and a croissant sandwich, and it was a winner! Beautiful to look at, crunchy as hell on the first bite, and surprisingly loaded with oodles of smoked salmon. Slices of avocado and tomato on top of that means there's no way to eat gracefully without spillage so pull your plates close and enjoy the chomp. I found the croissant-like bagel a pleasure to bite into, and while slightly salty, it was balanced out with the rest of the ingredients. Don't let its size fool you - you'll be full for 3 hrs! - Sausage pastry (5/5) - I forgot the name but it's in the pics. Unassuming flaky number with flavorful sausage and other toppings (tomato?$ rounding out the robust flavor. Smaller than the lox bagel but still nicely filling. - Lattes and coffees were on-point as well. I had a PSL that tasted good without overpowering sweetness found in most, and enjoyed a full-bodied drip. Service - this is self-serve type of place so you are informed to bring your plates to the back rubbish area. One key locked bathroom for after-Joe break, and the bakery staff are pleasant and nice. Heading to a Training Session across the street at Convene, I didn't have a ton of time to grab something. The display case grabs your attention immediately and I had to try one of the Breakfast Croissants. I opted for the Egg n Cheese Croissant, no meat and in less than 5 min in the convection oven I had a piping hot sandwich. I scarfed it!! OMG, it was so good! The eggs were fluffy, the cheese was gooey and the Croissant had crispness to the outside with soft but firm inside. It didn't get soggy under the eggs. I don't know how they have their recipe so spot on that they can pre-make these and keep the bread in tact, but they did. It had great flavor, not bland. If I could get another, I would have and I certainly thought about going back here the next day before leaving NY. Definitely worth the pop-in. read more

I didn't try the coffee, but I ordered a BEC on a croissant, and my friend ordered a BEC and a crème brûlée donut. The BEC hit the spot. The croissant was buttery and flaky, the bacon was sizzling, and the cheese was the perfect temperature and melted nicely. It was tasty and exactly what I needed on a cold day. My friend has been wanting to try a crème brûlée donut for a while and said this one absolutely delivered. The crème brûlée sugar on top was crunchy and cracked in a satisfying way. All the other pastries looked divine, and the coffee smelled good. This bakery is right off the 1 train at the Rector stop, and it's near the West Side Highway pier if you want to take your pastry for a walk! read more

I saw Siena as it was close by to the hotel I was staying at and decided to try it for breakfast. The spot is cute and has a lot of options for breakfast and pastries. I ordered an iced latte and an egg and cheese croissant sandwich. The sandwich was quite tasty. The croissant was really good and flakey. The coffee on the other hand was very bad, after a sip I had to toss it out. No greeting when we walked in, didn't offer to answer any questions or even engage in small talk... Ordered a banana bread latte, tiramisu latte, spinach feta croissant and pistachio croissant. Banana bread latte didn't come as pictured, although pictured was the hot version, and we ordered iced. When asking if the banana bread latte came with foam, the girl at the register, who also took our order said yes. Then I asked if we could get it remade or exchanged for something else, another worker who was a tall male came up and asked if I wanted it remade or changed out for something else, I asked for another tiramisu latte and he rudely snatched the drink from my hand. Then another worker, some other girl came up to him and asked what was going on, then she proceeded to come up to me and said that the reason the drink didn't come with foam was because the one pictured was hot. I told her the girl at the register said it comes with foam, and she replied in a whisper "she's new". Regardless of being new or not, she shouldn't be shaming the new girl for misinforming me. There was no reason to be rude and unwelcoming... but I guess that's just the culture of New York. Definitely think twice before coming here unless you don't mind the inhospitable atmosphere and unaccommodating employees. read more

Wow, what a bustling bakery in the Financial district! When I came in, there was a good amount of people ordering and eating inside, and the smell was captivating from all the delicious pastries and food I saw being served. I ordered a matcha latte and a raspberry supreme croissant. It was a bit on the pricy side but I would say the supreme croissant was one of the most unique croissants that I've ever had. The croissant was flaky and very buttery and the raspberry topping was delicious and I was surprised to see filling when I started digging in and it was tart, & sweet which really complimented the croissant overall! The matcha latte was unfortunately on the weaker side of lattes that I've had with it having an overall milky taste and not enough matcha flavor and in a smaller size. Service was okay here since the staff was dealing with a busy line and lots of people asking questions. The person who took my order was nice and helpful but the cashier was a little on the rude side since she seemed to be a little stressed with how chaotic it was and was rushing everything out so I'm gonna knock off a star there. The overall atmosphere and décor of the shop was modern and cute and you got this warm, inviting feeling as you came in and there is plenty of seating to sit around to have a nice lunch or break at and plenty of sunlight coming in through the windows! I'd recommend coming here for the pastries and food but I would say the drinks are decent at best. I would order the croissants here again in a heartbeat for sure! read more

Everyone could use a bakery in their neighborhood. One of those places you go to to fill the sweet craving. Siena is probably that place for a lot of people. Came to Siena for an afternoon treat & to take refuge from the rain. I have been wanting to try this spot for a while now, and I'm glad I finally did. I had a croissant, which I feel is a good baseline for bakery qualify, and it was delicious. Flaky, buttery, and fragrant, all qualities of a superb croissant! Chocolate chip cookie was delicious. Soft yet not too soft and plenty of chips inside without it missing the texture of a cookie. Almost perfect! And the cinnamon roll was surprisingly good. The interior decor and design of the place is aesthetically pleasing and gives off a very modern cafe place and the service was very pleasant. All of their croissants and other desserts looked amazing. However we did run into some issues. To start, we ordered a mocha coffee and received a small size coffee and told the barista we ordered a larger size and they remade it, therefore that worked out. However when it came to the pastries there were some other issues. The circular croissants were a bit hard to cut or bite into but the filing and dough was amazing. The slice of cake was also incredibly hard to get off the little wrapping it came on because it seemed like it was stuck to it with some type of sugar gel or something, which made it really messy and to topple over. Also the little cheesecake's crust at the bottom was impossible to cut into with a plastic fork and it's not small enough to just take bites out of it. read more

Love this place. I often stay in FiDi when I come to NY for work and this has become my little local coffee shop when I'm here. It's not cheap, but everything is delicious and the staff are cool. And if you want pizza their pizza shop next door is the best. I am pregnant and so maybe biased at the moment, but my new favorite quick on the go cafe. read more

The owner was so kind and friendly while the food...dear heavens, THE FOOD...was up there with the greats. Every morning we ordered a number of new pastures and sandwiches for the table to try and we weren't disappointed by a single one of them.
