Eight years and at least four service visits later (old refrigerator, new refrigerator, washer, dryer), Lerman Appliances still sets the highest standard not only for appliance repair companies, but any kind of service and/or repair business. No company anywhere provides better customer service. Our most recent experience with them began on a Saturday. They were closed by the time I got around to calling, but they returned my voicemail first thing Monday. The technician was there that afternoon, ran some diagnostics and determined an electronic control board had failed, and the new part would have to be ordered. He informed me of the cost of the part and the labor, and emailed me a copy of his estimate. They were back Friday with the new control board, installed it and did some preventative maintenance of a couple of related issues (had the parts with them for a 12-year-old Whirlpool), and were back on the road in less than ninety minutes. Lerman's dispatchers and customer service staff are polite, knowledgeable, considerate and courteous. Their technicians are skilled and talented, with an encyclopedic understanding of appliances large or small, old or new, major brand or obscure label. Not only will they fix what's wrong, but even if you're less-than-handy around the house, they will tell you about preventive measures anyone can take to prolong the life of a household appliance. And spending time with the genial wizard that is Vitaliy Lerman is like attending a seminar in the advanced care and feeding of appliances, and should you have questions about a future purchase or that weird dishwasher that came with the house you just bought, he's happy to help. Lerman's fees are quite reasonable (the service call charge from the first visit was credited against our final bill). As I said in 2010, you can believe the 5-star ratings here. Making people happy is all about approach and this company doesn't care one bit. They may be decent at repairing refrigerators, I wouldn't know because they charged me $80 for nothing, but I do know they are not professional, are completely unfair and are rude. I'd go somewhere else if you want your fridge fixed or at least want a good experience. Now going back and reading other reviews I see that this has happened to multiple people. I told them over the phone I have a Samsung fridge with a broken ice maker, did they tell me anything about defrosting this in advance so they could look at it? No. Did they tell me over the phone that they deal with this constantly and to call Samsung first? No. But, day of, the technician comes out, looks at it for one minute, says the ice maker is frozen and you need to defrost it. He also said this happens all the time and if you call Samsung and give them a hard time, they will fix it because it is a manufacturer defect. He said if Lerman fixed it it would cost $600-$700. He was at my home for max. 4 minutes and charged me $80 without looking at the actual ice maker (as he couldn't even open it with it being frozen). Thanks for wasting my time. I called and spoke to a supervisor and told him although I understand your repair man took the time to come out, he didn't assess any damage or do anything beyond telling me to call Samsung. The supervisor said he could give me the assessment over the phone, that the motor, tube and other components need to be replaced. I asked how he could possibly know that without anyone looking at it and he said he's done this forever and knows. So I asked why, when told in advance the type of fridge I have and the problem, why he they didn't tell me any of this over the phone in the first place? Before charging me $80. He said we aren't after your service fee. So I asked him to refund it. He said absolutely not. I told him I would leave a negative review, he said great, go ahead. $80 for literally NOTHING. They aren't even certified by Samsung to do the repairs, I've found out now. Do yourself a favor and use any other repair company. I should've known better. read more

I called Lerman Appliances based on Angie's list reviews and I'm sooooo glad I did! I was lucky enough to speak with Val, the older brother of the head tech and the son of the owner, who's Dad reads reviews. I believe this will be Val's first so here we go..... My GE microwave has been having intermittent working/not working problems for the last week. I asked Val about price, etc for a diagnosis and estimate to have it fixed. He put me on hold to ask his brother about "intermittent" problems and the likelihood of it, working when a technician would show up vs not working. His brother said it would more than likely work perfectly when they'd show up but the bottom line is after they figure it out, apply the diagnostic charge to the repair, etc...microwaves with this kind of problem usually costs $200-$300. Val, related the info and said to give him the serial number, he typed it into google and found it at Home Depot for $198.00. A new one is the obvious answer. Val did not have to do anything but give me his price for someone to come out and assess the situation. He took the time to help me, knowing that his company was not going to make a dime off of me. Several years ago they repaired our DSC oven. It was not an easy job but they completed the service for a very fair price while maintaining a great attitude. Recently, our 16 year old refrigerator stopped working. I wasn't sure if it warranted repair. I described the problem over the phone and was patiently provided a description of several possible solutions and a sense of the possible cost. One possibility was something I could do myself. While it proved to be a temporary fix, I really appreciated the company's willingness to provide great customer service above making a "sale" and it's depth of knowledge. Our new Samsung fridge started making a horrible grinding sound. We had to defrost our fridge several times due to the ice buildup against the fan. The noise it created was so horrible we couldn't sleep at night. We called Samsung had someone come out and repair it -- the problem continued. After 3 months of back and forth issues we contacted Lerman Appliance they are certified for Samsung repair and went out of their way to give us exceptional customer service. Our service technician Ilya was very knowledgeable and friendly. Backed by their own warranty on their work you can't go wrong. I came home from the holiday break to find a clothes washer that refused to complete a cycle. I received a return call within minutes and the repairman was on my doorstep within two hours. He had to go get a part for my malfunctioning clothes washer, but returned when he said he would and got it working again. He explained exactly what was wrong and cleaned up after himself, both of which I appreciated immensely, and the cost was reasonable. As I'm about to post my experience with Lerman Appliance, I'm so pleased to see the many multitudes of other satisfied customers. While my post is lengthy in words, it's full of gratitude in finding a real family business that we can all count on. Thank you, Lerman Appliance!!!!! I came home from an event with my family in October (2017), only to find my 7 year old Samsung French Door refrigerator D.O.A. I come from an era where a refrigerator, any appliance, lasted decades, not a few years. Shocked, sad and angry were my immediate responses. Then, came relief...in 2 days I was to go out of town for a week. My relief was that if it had to die on me at all, at least it was dying while I was still home to clean out and salvage what I could from a stuffed freezer and refrigerator. The idea of coming home after a week to find rancid, gross food trapped within a dead appliance made me nauseous at the very thought. The next day, I set out to schedule a repair of the refrigerator, only to find out that the repair company I'd used for the past 30+ years refused to repair a "Samsung" refrigerator. WHAT?!?!?! It got even better. NO ONE WOULD TOUCH MY SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR. In the next week, I discovered that Samsung products are only worth purchasing if they're an electronic product; television, cell phone, etc. The horror stories I was to hear about their appliances...worthy of nightmares. In an attempt to repair a necessary appliance, that just happened not to be old enough to need repair (my opinion), I contacted Samsung and was referred to an authorized Samsung repair company. It was then that I found Lerman Appliance, in the San Fernando Valley area. The woman who answered the phone that morning, greeted a frustrated, angry woman (me). She, her name is Pollina Lerman, was kind, professional, and ever so willing to try to set me on the right road to getting my fridge repaired. During the next 6-8 weeks, she dispatched skilled repair men repeatedly to my home. Ilya Lerman, along with a great fella by the name of Serge, and a couple other men came to fix the problem with the refrigerator. The problem was one that should never have occurred, and was exacerbated by Samsung's inability to assist their own authorized repairmen in coming to a positive conclusion. Lerman ordered parts according to their catalogues directly from Samsung, only to find out the part numbers were incorrectly stated in the catalogue. Time after time Lerman Appliance came to attempt to fix a problem that had been poorly manufactured into the refrigerator in the first place. It couldn't be fixed unless I replaced every single internal part within the appliance, at my own expense. After all these weeks, at least 6 multi hour service calls, I gave up. It wasn't until 2 weeks before Christmas that I finally had a working refrigerator. Certainly not a Samsung product. So, why am I retelling my story? Because I'm a firm believer in giving positive feed back to hard working "Mom and Pop" businesses, when the credit is due. Too often we, as humans complain about a poor job, but never give kudos to the heros out there. While Lerman Appliance was never able to fix my fridge, it WASN'T FROM LACK OF TRYING, nor was it a lack of competence. They were hood winked at every turn, by Samsung, who had no intention of righting a wrong. If there were Lemon laws on appliances, Samsung should be worthy of an entire lemon tree. I have since removed the appliance repair company that I had used for the past 30+ years, with Lerman Appliance. They fix all appliances, including high end stoves like Wolf. I was charged $350 dollars to fix a $35 dollar plastic tube behind my dishwasher and it took about 3 separate visit over course of months to do so!! My dishwasher was leaking and I found this company on yelp and contacted them. They came over and I was charged 100 dollars diagnostic fee and was told there was nothing wrong with it. That was ok ! Then the technician leaves and we used the dish washer and it was still leaking all over the floor. Contacted them again and the technician came over to tell us that in fact there was a problem and plastic tube was leaking and he did not have it and needed to be ordered and he will find out the price and contact me. An entire week passes with no news and I contact them myself and was told they don't know yet and they will get back to me. Couple days later they call me and they have it and it costs $35 dollars and I was like great let's order it. When technician came for installation at the end told me After the $100 I already paid that was supposed to cover part of their work I still owed them another almost $250 dollars for a total pf $350 !! I feel like I was overcharged but hope other people learn from my mistake and do not trust the opinion of one company. read more

My clothes dryer stopped working. I narrowed the problem down to an electric connection and/or lint build-up. The person who answered the phone listened closely to my recital of what I thought was wrong and why, asked good questions, and was able to book a convenient appointment time. Valentin arrived punctually. He confirmed both problems quickly and was able to explain what wasn't working and identify the electrical part that needed replacement. He was neat, quick, and thorough in cleaning out lint around the drum and in the vent. He returned at the promised time the next day with the new part, installed it, and it works fine now. So, kudos to the reception person and to Valentin for listening and to Valentin for his excellent work, his efficiency, and his expertise! We have been using Lerman for a few years now, they are simply the BEST at what they do. We have a 35-year-old Maytag washer and dryer, so much better than what they make today, and Lerman keeps it running. The last time we had Serg come he actually had the parts in his truck, for a 35-year-old machine, COME ON! They are extremely honest, I showed Serg a gasket on my refrigerator, and he said, no need to change it yet, it hasn't gone the whole way through. I've been meaning to leave this wonderful review for a few months now. I bought a house with an existing medium-high end LG side-by-side refrigerator with a "deli door", but the freezer was frosting and also leaking water. Dmitri came and identified that the problem was likely the door fit. He adjusted it but was not happy with the result. So he ordered a part to install on a future visit. Amazingly, when he returned to install, everything had improved. So he did not charge for the part, made one more final adjustment, did not charge for the second visit, and made sure everything was clean and tidy. He was great. Our frig is now 16 years old, quite solid and good looking, but had some temperature fluctuations going on. I had had our previous independent applicance tech out several times but he just tweaked things and bad-mouthed the machine for being old. He essentially refused to take further action to fix it (but charged us for each service visit anyway). Lerman Appliance was recommended by a business associate. I called and booked a repair appointment for Tuesday between 9 am and noon (the next morning). The diagnosis cost would be $60, which is applicable to the repairs. So would I be stuck at home Tuesday, waiting for three hours while they lose track of me? NO! Technician Kim showed up right on time at 9 am and went to work. He identified a faulty Defroster circuit pack, gave me a cost estimate of $370 (incl. parts and labor) to replace it, and I gave the OK. He took a $60 credit card deposit and ordered the part by phone. THE next day, Mary (the office manager) called me with the part and we set up a time convenient to me for three days out (Friday). Friday, Kim showed up (again very PUNCTUAL) and replaced the faulty part. Then the cold air seemed to flow freely. He said the temps would stabilize within 24 hours. But they did not. The frig side got way too cold. Over the next few days, I kept adjusting the frig side warmer and warmer, yet my fresh food was being subjected to temperatures of 25F to 35F... and the icemaker was no longer working. I called Lerman again. Monday, Kim came back, punctual once again. This time he found a water line frozen at the icemaker and cleared it. He seemed to think my complaint about the overly-cold frig would just correct itself within "another" 24 hours. Well, it stayed below freezing just like yesterday. I called Lerman again on Tuesday. They were to send Kim back when I could be there to meet him, two days later. Kim showed up Thursday, apologizing up and down, and hand more parts in hand. He explained that the part he replaced came with four OPTION settings and he had failed to apply the correction option. Within less than an hour, he had it out, reconfigured, and replaced. He even wiped down the inside of the frig and freezer for me. NOW, the airflow could be properly regulated instead of going continuously. By the end of the day, the frig was back to 35F to 40F, just as we like it. The freezer is still at zero F, which is fine. So aside from some slip-ups, Lerman stands behind their work and did not put any blame on me nor try to charge additional for the extra work. They do show trust and responsible follow-up. read more

I just moved into a new place and started using yelp to shop for quotes on things I need to fix around my home. I needed to have the plastic tube inside of my washer cleaned and replaced. All four appliance companies that I sent a request for a quote told me they don't work on these things. Lerman Appliances was so prompt to respond despite how late in the day I sent the message. i've used this company at least five or six times over the last 15 years or so. From the initial phone call to the follow up to the repair person they are friendly, professional, and reliable. I trust what they say, and the work that they need to perform. I called on a Friday with a non-emergency situation and was called back to schedule a service call the same day. Unfortunately, the job the repair man was on took longer than expected, but I was called an hour prior to my service window to let me know he was running late and could they reschedule for Saturday morning. I appreciated that I was called in advance, and that they immediately rescheduled. The repair man came out, was extremely knowledgeable explained everything that was wrong with the freezer unit of my refrigerator told me what it would cost if it was repaired and suggested it not be repaired, because the cost basically exceeded the cost of a new refrigerator. Definitely recommend this company and I hope I don't need to use them again, but will definitely if the need arises. read more

I am so glad I found Lerman Appliances and I found them through YELP. Our disposal was leaking and we needed a new one right away. I called Lerman, spoke to Poloma who told me they would purchase and install. However, when they checked their suppliers they weren't able to find the disposal we wanted for a month. We found Amazon would deliver a new disposal on Sunday. Lerman sent someone to install it on Tuesday. I will use them again for all my appliance needs. read more

He explained my options thoroughly and was not pushy like other companies I've used in the past. A part was ordered and installed today exactly a week later by the owner's son. (I have a problem with washer, lots noise) the tech came out, diagnosis thru his eye, and told me it looked bad, you should changed all set of drum and more parts...(it cost parts price will over $600 and +labor) but, he didn't open cover and didn't show me that what parts having an issue. just stay my home only 5min, and want to charge $80. I don't care how much that tech have experience, but he must diagnosis correctly, he must show to customer what was issue, and what part should be replace. keep saying that.. trust me.. I have a lots of experience, I don't need to open cover that washer. Unethical schnoors. I used Lerman Appliances for years. Their work was terrific. I overlooked the fact that their booties/shoes were not clean and they frequently over overlooked cleaning up after themselves because they fixed my appliances. Within the last two years, I noticed that their prices were inching up and up. But, that's what happens, I told myself. Well, my very old stack washer/dryer broke again. It seemed foolish to spend more money on it, and called Lerman. His son came to my home. He gave me a price of $700 to fix it. I asked if there was another washer/dryer besides the GE I had (I knew it was a terrible piece of equipment when I bought it but it was the only one that could make the turn to get into my laundry room).. He said "No". The GE was the only unit. My partner looked on line to discover there was a plethora of side by side units, including Miele and Bosch, that could be stacked and were quality machines. He is an appliance man. He knew there were others. That's what he does for a living. In addition, when I asked him if he had his vaccination, he said "No", hie wife doesn't trust them. He deals with people of all ages and is putting them at risk for potential serious illness. His wife is his medical advisor? Give me a break. When I called and spoke to Vitali, his father, he tongue twisted his response to me rudely and crudely. They're scammers. When they think they can get away with it, they try. NEVER use them.
