It's been many years since I wrote my first review for Lerman Appliances but they have been out to fix my appliances (washer, dryer and refrigerator) several times since then so I thought it might be a good time to give an updated review. I guess the fact that I keep calling them for service speaks for itself. As I said in my first review, the office staff are helpful, their service people are always on-time and courteous, they always explain the problem and the solution before doing the work and their prices are fair. I have used Lerman Appliances now for the last couple of years for my LG washer & dryer and just recently, my GE dishwasher. I have nothing but great things to say about them. Saved our Viking and SubZero! Bravo! We were faced with the daunting, expensive possibility of needing to replace our Viking range and SubZero refrigerator, both over 20 years old and malfunctioning. Based on user reviews, we called several repair services. Lerman Appliances saved the day! In spite of being a bit more expensive for an initial technician inspection, they were the most open and the most technically savvy. Sergei came out and after looking at both units said he was pretty sure he could save and restore them. In fact, he said that they are quality units and if we didn't want to do a repair, he'd gladly take them off our hands. We got an estimate the next day for a small fraction of the cost of replacement with even a much less quality brand. It took about a week to get the parts that were needed, but we were kept informed by text and email and he was back exactly when promised. He did the repairs on both units within a few hours and created no mess. After more than a week of use since, we can say that we have rejuvenated units working better than they did 10 years ago. read more

My 18-year-old GE oven stopped working over the weekend. Lerman Appliances timely sent a skilled repair person on Monday. The repairman repaired corroded wires and replaced igniter switch, all for what I thought was a very reasonable price. We called Lerman Appliances on a Thursday Morning and were scheduled for service between 1:00 and 4:00PM Saturday. Their Serviceman Yuri showed up around 3:15, which worked out well for us. Yuri was very professional, pleasant and kind and diagnosed the problem in less than 20 mins. The problem turned out to be the replacement of the refrigerator's computer control board. Yuri then gave us a cost quote to to the work and luckily he had the part with him on his truck. We were very happy with their quality and timely service and would gladly recommend them to anyone for Appliance repairs. The other appliance company that we called gave us a Eight day wait time before service. Lerman Appliances got to us in Three days, which was a huge difference to us! read more

Just had my Thermador double oven and Sub-zero refrigerator repaired by Lerman Appliances. The work required some research to locate the parts because the oven is thirty years old and the required parts are no longer made. The research was happily done, the parts found and installed efficiently. The Sub-zero needed new gaskets, a laborious process that was happily accomplished by the Lerman tech Sergie. He also performed some general maintenance at no additional charge. Vitaly and Sergie arrived for the job when they said they would. The work was professionally and successfully done at a fair price. Caveat to this review is Lerman Appliances never actually came out to fix my broken range hood fan, but I appreciate their honesty. I called in because my range hood fan wasn't working. Talked with Vitaly for few minutes and he suggested it wasn't worth fixing the issues with my range hood as the repair price would come close to the replacement price. Appreciate the honesty he showed me today. I'll definitely be using his services in the future on appliances that need repair. read more

But, today I had a service repair man to check out my 18 year old dryer that stopped working last week. He never gave up til he fixed the machine and it is working fine. Let's start with the undeniable fact that it is no fun and not cheap to have an appliance crap out on you. That's a given. But Lerman appliances made this unpleasant experience manageable. They came when they said they would come (wearing masks during COVID). They identified the problem with my Samsung refrigerator and came back when they said they would and they fixed it. We had successfully used Lerman Appliances for a Samsung refrigerator repair so they were our go to repair people when a problem occurred with our Samsung dishwasher, which we had for only 4 years. Unfortunately, after two attempts to repair the dishwasher, they were not able to repair it after trying different parts - possibly due to an electronic related issue that could not be diagnosed and the costs were becoming more than a potential replacement. As a result, we received a full refund for the repairs which we put towards a new unit which was not a Samsung. For their integrity, we would definitely use them again. read more

By far and away, the best appliance repair business in LA! Owner is kind and very thorough in determining the potential problem before sending out a technician. Janus came on time and found the leaking inlet valve on my Bosch dishwasher in minutes. He had the correct part in his car and carefully replaced it. They were the only ones that got back to me but I liked my experience! They were responsive via Yelp Message as well as by phone. They came out immediately with a short time range to examine why my Frigidaire refrigerator was not dispensing ice or water. It ended up being over $300 for the part and labor. I called them to do the yearly checkup and maintenance of all our appliances. Everyone should have their appliances checked yearly as your Home Warranty doesn't have to pay if you have not maintained your appliances yearly. They actually did the job right. They took all the appliances apart and checked the inside, cleaned them and put them back together. Last year, whomever I called, turned them on and said they were working. I said I could have done that myself. I will be calling Lerman for any repairs I need and to do maintenance again next year. They were on time, professional and did the job the right way. Unfortunately, yelp seems to allow, as it's currently designed, the last word to go to the business owner in question, rather than to the customer, or customer-acquaintance making the complaint. To respond to Mr. Lerman's conveniently-framed response to the initial review, 1. There was never any question of with whom you were speaking from our very first initial phone call, which, oddly enough, you recorded. Making mention in your response as if there is some surprise about this is as disingenuous as the majority of other practices being called into question. 2. I would imagine any customer would be happy to have their dryer fixed after more than a week of its waiting in disrepair due to your company's lack of preparedness, and lack of care for your customer's actual satisfaction. 3. Should the homeowner, who was 100% aware of the existence of our dialogue, and supportive of same, ever wish to post a review themselves, then the truth or more likely lack thereof of your attestation to their supposed "satisfaction" will come incontrovertibly into a very poor light for you. 4. It doesn't matter if there are 1 million versions of a cable in a 35-year-old dryer; your company knew the make and model of the machine before ever setting foot out of your office to the customer's residence. 4. The total tear-down, installation, and reconstruction time of the machine was under an hour; the actual installation of the new cable itself, less than a half hour, irrespective of how you try to hide behind lack of elicitation of an hourly rate, There is absolutely no realistic justification behind bilking a naïve customer into paying $250 for less than an hours work on a dryer; a Maserati perhaps, but a non-commercial residential dryer, no. Assuming one is not counting the 90 minutes it took your repairman to go buy the part they could have picked up or ordered beforehand, and then return to the residence. You would demonstrate a wisdom far beyond any I have yet seen in you were you to eschew further response, since the only thing left for you credibly to say would amount to an honest accession to the foregoing. Such a result seems dubious, after only a few dialogues with you. But everything stated from this end, nonetheless, is incontrovertibly the case, no matter how you might want to try to "spin" it. For every extra 1, 2 or $300 questionably injected into an estimate, there is eventually the possibility of the price of loss of credibility, and of customer base. I'm sure such admonishment, however, falls on deaf ears, after more than 20 years of perfecting such methodology. read more

I had a difficult time finding a reputable company that was knowledgeable about my high-end appliances - Liebherr refrigerator and Blue Star oven. One company, who shall remain nameless, took an advance payment for the part needed then shut down without contacting me. Another came and handled my appliances so roughly that I was afraid to have them back. What a relief it was to find a company that was knowledgeable and professional from beginning to end! My technician analyzed the problems and returned for repairs the following week. They handled everything properly, no concerns for damage, and left everything in perfect condition. I hope to not have issues for quite some time, but if I do I will definitely return to this company! read more

Lerman Appliances saved me from having to buy a new refrigerator. Everyone said to buy a new one because my Whirlpool is on the older side. The refrigerator was not cold, but the freezer was still working and cold. I opted to take a chance on repair and Lerman Appliances was recommended by a few people in my community. The problem was quickly diagnosed and the replacement part, (the timer) was on hand in the truck. The technician did a great clean up job, replacing all items that were removed and even wiped the freezer clean at the end of the job. Very happy I used them. read more

A Lerman technician came out to troubleshoot my Kitchen Aid Fridge and reported that it needed a new compressor. He said he knows this for sure because the inverter light is blinking three times. I double checked this with others and found that the error code indicated a problem with the inverter. I called Lerman, told them of the conflicting info and asked to speak to the owner. He refused to come to the phone. I was told the scheduled call to install the compressor would be cancelled. Ummm? Fortunately I own a company that repairs copiers so I had one of my techs get troubleshooting info and take a look. He fixed it in 15 minutes. The compressor was not grounded properly. Sam read more

I recently called Lerman Appliances to repair a water pump on my wash machine. I spoke with Vanessa to make an arrangement to send a tech out to me the following day. Ilya showed up the following day on time and diagnosed the problem as being water pump. The part had to be ordered it would take a few days. As soon as the pump arrived, Ilya made the repair to my wash machine. The price was exactly what he quoted which was reasonable. The whole ordeal was surprisingly quite pleasant. I am very dissatisfied with the interaction with the owner of the Lerman Appliances, Inc, but I was satisfied with the service call to look at the problem with my GE gas dryer. When I called Lerman Appliances, Inc. and spoke to the clerk who told me the service call would cost $65.00. I specifically asked if the "Neighbor 2 Neighbor" (N2N) ad that promoted a $20.00 discount off labor if the N2N ad was mentioned. As I was also on my computer--looking at the Yelp listing & reviews of Lerman and I also asked about the Yelp offer to buy $60.00 coupon for $45.00 and the clerk asked the Manager (?) and said that only one discount can be used. I then asked if the business give senior discount and the clerk said yes for anyone 65 years and older. (I am 67 years old). I then agreed for a technician to come and look at my dryer to assess the problem. I asked for the name of technician and the clerk said it would be "Dima" and he would arrive on Friday afternoon between 12:00 to 3:00 pm. Dima arrived around 1:30 pm and he looked at the GE Dryer and unscrew the top and front panels and pointed to a large clump of lint by the motor of the dryer. I cleaned the lint from the metal panel and Dima plugged the electrical cord to the outlet and the dryer started. Dima then says that the motor needs to be replaced and I said that it is working and I will take my chance as to how long the motor will last. Dima said that he would email me the motor part number in case the problem will happen anytime. I said OK and he said that he only charge me $65.00 for the service call. I told Dima that I had the N2N ad and mentioned that $20.00 off the labor was agreed upon when I called and spoke to the clerk, who asked the "Manager" about the discount. I did not even asked about the Senior Discount who also should be applied. Dima called the owner of Lerman business (Mr. Vitaliy Lerman) and I asked to speak to him. I told him that I agreed to the service call after clerk said that the N2N $20.00 discount would apply. Mr. Lerman disagreed with me as to what was discussed and he said that he would listen to the recorded call and call me back. He called me back and said that the service call is not considered "labor" and I told him that the N2N ad does not differentiate service call vs. labor. As a former Chief of the Division of Consumer Services and an executive in the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs (which regulates the "BEAR--Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair", I am reporting this situation to BEAR-- for not honoring the discount in the N2N ad. I told Mr. Lerman that I will make a formal complaint to the BEAR to report the fraudulent ad and "bait & switch" ploy that is used by this business with their consumers. I am willing to pay $45.00 and was ready to write a check for Dima. Dima said he was leaving and not to accept the check. About one hour later, I received an email from Mr. Lerman with an invoice that I owe $65.00 for the service call. I will not pay this invoice. I am writing this review of Lerman Appliances, Inc. because consumers need to know the cost of the repair and the service call is considered "labor" since no part was needed to repair the dryer. I am commending Dima for being honest about the fact that the dryer did not need unnecessary repair because I watched him and saw that the dryer started after cleaning out the clump of lint. I am writing this review to warn consumer to stand your ground when you agree to a contract for the cost (whether it is considered service call or labor -- to look at the repair and give an cost estimate and should not "scare" the consumer to unnecessary repairs. Consumers have a right to file a complaint with the BEAR to disclose this unfair practice and deceptive ad. Mr. Lerman asked me to write a review of the service call that Dima made. I would gladly give Dima 4 Stars because he was honest and professional and made the correct call-- that the dryer did not need to be repaired. I would give Mr. Vitaliy Lerman only 1(one) Star because he was not able to satisfy this consumer with his condenscending attitude and voice. read more

Very happy with the service that we received from Joseph! We called when my parents refrigerator stopped cooling and they were kind enough to have Joseph come the very next day. He arrived as scheduled and quickly assessed the problem, which was a simple cleaning of the coils, quickly took care of it, and problem solved. Thank goodness it was an easy fix but Joseph was very knowledgeable and professional, left everything nice and clean, and even gave us his number in case we had any more trouble! I've used this Ukrainian-American company several times in the past and once again they came through with flying colors. I called them on a Tuesday morning because my oven wouldn't heat and the very nice receptionist told me the first morning appointment she had would be on Friday but on Wednesday at about 1130 she called me because she had a technician who could arrive at my place in 30 minutes so I gladly agreed. The day before I had purchased a new oven because I assumed that my 29-year-old oven would probably be too costly to repair but Pasha arrived as scheduled 30 minutes after she called me and was 90% sure it's only needed an igniter replaced which is what he did and was finished within an hour. Parts and labor came to $300 (really $225 since I would've paid a $75 consultation fee even if I had decided not to repair the oven) which saved me the $1100 for a new oven. Slava Ukraine! read more

I have a whirlpool washer that flashed an error code. I told them the error code over the phone but requested a service call. The technician came promptly but after 15 minutes told me the problem can be the motor control board or the control board or the cable in between, the same info I got from the internet. He didn't even open up the unit to see visually whether the board(s) look normal or if the cable has shaken loose, which will help to decide which board (or the cable) to replace. His estimate of replacing the two boards is $850. I paid for the service call but felt awful for getting absolutely nothing for his "service". They were listed in Neighbor 2 Neighbor so that's how I found them, but will never use them again. read more

I cannot tell you how unhappy I am with this business. I used them on numerous occasions to fix my washing machine. Each time they fixed the problem but also sold me something else. So each visit came to around $300. Most recently, they came to fix a leak in the machine. And of course sold me some hoses that I may or may not have needed. When the machine began leaking again a few weeks after their visit, they were willing to send somebody out to fix it and charge me for it. I just paid over $350 to have them fix the leak, and now they want to charge me to come look at it again. It turned out there was a problem with the pump that should've been addressed on the first visit. The fact that they weren't willing to make this right shows that they have no customer loyalty. This is probably the only review I will ever write without actual getting a service thus I cannot give 5 stars. One of my joys of house chores is to hold the clean towels to take in the April Fresh smell and to get the warmth of clean clothes when the clothes are washed and dry. However lately my whirlpool duet steam dryer took literally forever to dry a load. I clean out the lint trap, tried different settings and even thought maybe it was the vent line but nothing worked. In desperation of smelling the April Fresh I called for derive appointment. Val answered and he asked me bunch of questions about the dryer and the vent than have me few additional areas for me to check etc. he explained he feels bad for me to waste my money on a call that really wasn't required; that he felt I could do it myself and save my money. I have to admit during the call I thought why is he asking all these questions I'm willing to pay to get my joy back. I insisted on the service call appointment to be made. Upon me being bit pushy Val did make an appointment for me for few days later (due to my schedule). Then later that night I asked my husband to look at the vent outside the house and the vent flap was completely shut. And as soon as he opened the flap and I turned on the dryer.... about 2lbs of lint flew out! OMG! I felt bad for my husband for getting dumped on however there was a moment of relief that I can get back my April Fresh Smell!!! I calked and left a message for Val to call me back about the appointment. I couldn't just leave a message I wanted to tell him myself how great his customer service was - just talking me thru all the questions and how he was so honest. Integrity and Service is what I now link Lerman with... thank you for not taking my money and being so honest! I will call you if/when my other appliances are on the blinks! read more
