Fried Catfish w/ Collard Greens & Mac and Cheese
    Rei B.

We originally came to try the oxtail, but they had just sold out when we got there. They had great customer service, nice and friendly. We ended up getting the Fried Catfish, side of Collared Greens and Mac n Cheese. The Catfish was made fresh and was nice and hot. Our catfish was either fried a tad bit too long or they needed to change their oil because it had a slight burnt taste. It was still good, and had a great crunch/crispness. The Mac and Cheese was just okay, the Collard Greens were flavorful and paired well with the Catfish. Hoping to catch them early next time to try their oxtail!

Being from the south, I was extremely happy to find this food truck set up really close to home. I decided to start with the smoked oxtails with a side of collards and fried okra. The oxtail was coming off the bone and super tender, tons of flavor and I would absolutely eat it again. The sides were good as well, exactly what I'd hoped for. The portion was enough for two people to split, but if I was starving, I might be able to eat a whole plate by myself. I really enjoy the rotating menu, and the staff was friendly. Overall I would say it was exactly what I had hoped for. With the south salt lake location, there isn't anywhere to sit and eat, so just plan on taking it with you. There is a park a few blocks down main street if you want to stay in the area.

Catfish plate w/mac & corn nuggets

Came here after hearing all the hype & wanted to see if it was true. Let me start by saying the staff was great and very friendly! Ordered 2 plates, oxtail w/ mac & candied yams & fried catfish w/mac and corn nuggets. The oxtail was delicious! Very flavorful and meaty, they don't skip out on the portions either. Mac was okay, wish it was baked 6.5/10, corn nuggets had a good sweet/salty taste 9/10 & the candied yams were good as well 8.7/10. Now, the reasons why this place is a 3 star and not a 5 (in my book). My catfish was too salty (could've been just that batch idk) that I didn't even finish it & lastly, I understand waiting is part of the food truck game but I waited an hour for only 2 plates which put a sour taste in my mouth, so go as soon as they open!

What can I say about big south their oxtail plate with the jasmine rice and the juices is definitely on point. I was blown away today with their baked beans the flavor in that not sure where they get it but it sure put a good smile on my face mac & cheese, but again those oxtails are tender. This the one! Take…read moreme back to the mid 90's after a little league football game against our arch rivals West. We're up at Sunnyside Park on 800 S and all the way up on the Eastside. It's hot as hell cuz it's late August early September and those orange slices and Gatorade ain't cuttin it man I need some cold like ice cold. So I got a churro. I ain't ever seen one of these let alone had or tasted one but the homie said it was bomb so I said what the heck. I got one and it was bomb! I ain't gonna go into the specifics of what I was feeling cuz I copped two more, one for me and one for me later. But yeah that's what this place did to me. Transported me back in time. I love it! They got Nutella, strawberry, guava and some other flavors also with some ice cream if you're feeling dangerous. And I feel safe being dangerous here. If that makes sense Nice and warm also with the service too cuz if you'd like they can walk em up to your car window. Oh yeah and cuz it's a food truck but also like a drive thru slash car hop. It's dope. We've been going on Sunday's cuz we gotta keep it holy for the memory Peace!

The staff was incredibly friendly and service was very quick. The pricing was very reasonable. Certainly not overpriced like most gourmet churro places. The churro was very good, however not anything absolutely mind blowing. But overall I was very satisfied with my purchase.

The homemade longganisa (Philippine breakfast sausage) itself is incredible with the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and perfect garlicky-ness. If they ever consider selling their longganisa in local Asian stores I will absolutely be first in line. And then they built everything around the longganisa, forming the most beautiful longsilog (longanisa breakfast) sandwich ever imagined with the soft brioche, atchara (pickled papaya), runny egg, cucumber, cheddar cheese with that really mild bite, and spicy mayo (which is very mild, I don't do spicy and it was great). I'm drooling just typing this out. If I lived closer I would be here weekly. It's worth the price (it's also huge/filling, on top of insanely delicious). It's worth the line. Yes, the line can be kind of long so either come early or just make sure you have the time available to you. It will be worth the wait. You can take the buzzer with you into Roots coffee and grab a drink, or pop next door into Ruby Snaps and try some cookies while you wait. The owners/family/employees are all very friendly and helpful with any questions. If I have more opportunities I'll eventually try every sandwich. My friend tried the Bulgogi and loved it. The bite I had was great; the Bulgogi was seasoned really well and it also went fantastic with the brioche. The ribeye meat was really tender. I'd asked for a side of extra atchara with my sandwich not realizing how much was already on it. I suggested to my friend to add it to her Bulgogi because the sweet tanginess from the rice vinegar would complement it well, and she loved the combination -- that is also my suggestion to all of you.

I had the Manila and LOVED the pickled papaya & cucumber paired with the Filipino longganisa, and let's not forget about the fluffy, buttery brioche bun! I just can't get enough! My husband had the bulgogi and was equally impressed. Being a food truck they have a cool set up, a couple seats outdoors and a sweet partnership with the coffee shop next door who offers their patrons a place to sit and eat inside. Can't wait to visit again!
