I have done a fair amount of business with Les Schwab, which include three vehicles and an RV. I visit Les Schwab mostly for its convenience of being located in Ripon. Having said that, all of my business with them except for one instance has been very good. When you visit, your wait time will depend on the hours you visit the store. I find weekday mornings to be best. For instance, I recently had a tire repaired due to a nail and it took roughly 40 minutes, which is not bad at all. The only negative experience I had was about a year ago. I called and made an appointment to have TPMS stems added and tire balancing to my RV trailer tires. It wasn't until about an hour after my confirmed appointment that a tech finally began work on my RV. What is the point of an appointment if you won't begin working on it around that time frame? I understand things happen. In my humble opinion, an hour after the appointment time was excessive. Other than my one negative experience, this location does a good job, which is why I continue to do business there. read more

Over the past 3-4 days my instrument panel would intermittently tell me that my front left tire had zero air pressure. By looking at and examining the tire this was obviously wrong. Had to be the tire monitoring system. While driving across town this morning the instrument again displayed -0- Air pressure. I took my car in on a Saturday morning on a holiday weekend because my brake light was on constantly and we couldn't remedy the situation on our own. Had no appointment set. A very polite young man named Stephen C listened to my concerns, told me he would check out the car, and call me and let me know how to proceed. His communication was exceptional - meaning his manner was positive and reassuring, he called me all during the process to keep me updated, and explained the problem in laymen's terms once the issue was found (even using the part as a visual). It ended up being a problem with one of the rotor calipers I'd had put in by LS six months prior and so it was replaced - but not only that, the rear brakes were replaced as well so the warranty could start over. For FREE. This company has always been extremely helpful - the lobby is clean and has plenty of places to sit if you have to wait for your car - and their prices are fair. It was extremely busy when I dropped off my car but they still were able to address my problem, fix it in a reasonable amount of time, and get me back on the road the same day. Les Schwab (and Steven specifically) are what excellent customer service is about and sorely missed in many other businesses these days. They now have a customer for life! read more

Excellent customer service, Aaron, is a great example of what real customer service should be. On my commute home from work yesterday driving on Highway 99, I started hearing a clunking sound coming from underneath the front of my truck. The clunking sound preceded to worsen. I took the next exit off the highway, and as I pulled into a parking lot, Les Schwab Tire Center of Ripon CA was directly in front of me. I parked and went inside. I talked to Aaron, explaining to him about the clunking sound I heard. Being it was getting close to closing time, I asked if someone could please take a quick look underneath the front of my truck. Aaron was more than happy to help me. As I handed him my keys, he offered me some popcorn and showed me where I could sit down and relax. Within a few min. Aaron came back inside and explained to me that a plastic dust cover was broken and hanging down from under the truck. He offered to remove it and then test drive the truck to make sure the clunking sound I heard was gone. He seemed to have my safety at heart. After the test drive, he said the clunking sound was still present. So he inspected a little further and discovered there were 2 bolts missing from the front driver's side caliper. He had a coworker drive to an auto parts store and picked up the 2 bolts. After the bolts were installed and making sure the caliper was secure he put the tire back on, came inside handed me my keys and said "The truck is fix, you're all set to go" I asked how much my bill was he smiled and said "The complimentary tire inspection was free" I'm forever grateful for all that Aaron and Les Schwab did for me to ensure my safety and get my truck back on the road. I will definitely recommend Les Schwab in Ripon to all my co-workers, friends, and family. read more

When Vincent was finished he would call us but he came over to tell us everything was fixed and the tire loaded in the back of the truck. No charge. We offered a meal. He declined. This young man at Les Schwab, was able to do what three men at the truckstop for an able to do he was able to dismount my tires I had them powder coated. The first day of our two week camping vacation we had a tire blowout on our trailer. The tires were special order and we knew it would be hard to find. We first called the Ceres Les Schwab and Dave said that it looked like the Ripon store had 6 tires. Dave called the store for us and let them know we were on our way. When we got there Jay helped us out. He gave us a great price on the tires and had us back on the road in a couple of hours. Gerardo is THE MAN!!!!!! He found I have a bent wheel. I have brought my truck to 2 other shops and no one has been able to fix the wobble/bounce n my truck. Usually have really good service and they are almost always able to get me in same day- at least for inspections. This time they went above and beyond. Was supposed to bring my car back when they got the tires in, but they got them in same day and guys worked past closing to get all my services completed that day. They can be pricey, but I think the fact that I can have all my services done at one place makes up for it and their warranties are good as well. read more

Called for a quote on a set of tires. The female that helped me had put me on hold for a short period of time then asked if she could call me back in about 10min, sure no problem. About 40 minutes later she called back (no problem). Went over the brand and size of tire and gave a quote, indicate they would have to order them, no problem, did not order at that time. Discussed with wife since she's the one that needs to make to take care of it. After we discussed I called and spoke with same female and confirmed tire info and cost. She confirmed all, so I placed my order. 3 days later she calls shortly after 5:30pm and asks that I call her back, I did, about 10 min later, they close at 5pm. Called today(Monday) she was not in. Spoke to manager he said she misquoted me. Asked how can that be, I confirmed info with her twice on two separate days. His response, she's new. Well she's an employee of yours so it sounds like you should honor her quote. His response well maybe for not much longer. Had my van 4 breaks, tires and shocks replaced and they helped me out on price discovered during their inspection. I went in to get an alignment, tire rotation, and tire balance done. I went in Friday morning at 9am and was told everything should take about a hour to hour and a half, total cost was gonna be around $200. I waited at the store for about a hour and got a phone call from one of the mechanics. He said that he tried to adjust the tie rod and the bolt had stripped. He said the cost was going to be about $460 to replace the tie rod. I told him I was at the shop and wanted to see what was going on. I walked in and he walked me to where my vehicle was and showed me the damage. He told me the bolt was seized and they tried everything to get it off but it finally stripped and if I would like them to replace it the cost was going to be around $460. I told him no way. Why would I pay for something they broke? The mechanic said that it was a problem when I came in and they didn't do anything wrong. I asked him if the bolt was stripped when I got there. He said no...... I said ok so it wasn't broke. He said yeah.... I went inside and talked to the manager Justin. I paid for the balancing and rotation. We came to an agreement that I would pay $150 for the alignment and new tie rod. He said that they might get the part in that day and call me letting me know when it was in. He called me later that day and said the part would be in tomorrow morning and made me an appointment for the next morning at 9am. I went in the next day (Saturday) at 9am. I was going to get the part replaced and tie rod replaced. I was there for about 40min and Carlos came outside and told me that it was the sleeve that need to be replaced and they had one coming at 11am...... at this point I was done and ready to lawyer up. Carlos told me it was all on the house. I agreed to give them this last chance. I got a call around 2:20pm saying my vehicle was done, went down to Ripon and picked it up with no issues. The team at the Ripon location are good people and will right the wrongs if they cause any. The reason I would never recommend or go back to any Les Schwab is because I had to defend myself to the first mechanic and had to prove him wrong. He should've asked me if it was ok and what could happen before going ahead with stripping the bolt and the fact that I was told it would take a hour and a half tops and wasted 2 days. These guys will want to over sell you, run away. Also, if you tell them to inspect your tire, they will intentionally leave you in a worse spot. I have a 1 year new car, all wheel drive with less than 18,000 miles. I saw a nail in my tire but it was holding air and drivable. I took it there for a price to repair, but after the ridiculous quote, I declined. I went to pick up my car, and the tire was off the rim, in the truck separately, and the spare tire was now on. Here's what they told me: all wheel drive cars must have tires matching the amount of tread within a certain range, or it trips errors. One new tire was out if mfg specs and so all needed to be replaced on my 1 year new car. I thought it was a joke. I took it to the dealer, they said it was well within range, and sold me ONE TIRE. Look at my tires in the photos I put here. My concern was the "lets put his spare on then MAKE him buy tires" approach. They couldn't measure my tread WITH the tire still on that was holding air just fine? Sabotage for sure, forcing upsell. read more

I purchased new wheels online from a vendor (not Les Schwab). I was having issues with the steering wheel shaking at 60mph after installation. I took it to another tire shop and a alignment shop. Still had bad vibration. Both shops said everything looks great. And it wasn't. I spoke with Jordan at Les Schwab (RIPON). He took my car in right away and diagnosed the problem. My review is based on the companies policy on mounting customers tires. Beautiful store, 1 customer in the store. Brought in a yard tractor tire to mount on the wheel. The very pleasant staff explained they couldn't help because I didn't buy the tire from them. That being said, I went to America's tire with the same tire and tractor wheel and they gladly switched it out and charge me ten bucks. The waiting room at America's Tire was jam-packed as well as their service Bays.
