I brought my pool cleaner back 2 weeks after having parts replaced. One of the wheel bolts came out so I asked my son to drop it off and have them call me when repaired. Santos told him to search and retrieve the bolt from the pool which would have saved him a trip. We obviously already did that. A few hours later I received a VM from Santos telling me they didn't have the bolt and to come pick up the cleaner and go to a hardware store to get. I went in and spoke with him letting him know this was warranty work, he was overly rude stating they don't stock the part and made excuses about it taking weeks to get and the only way was for me to probably purchase an entire wheel assembly and that I should just go to the hardware store. Terribly lazy and rude customer service. He complained about being the only employee and couldn't do anything else to help me. He didn't even try. Ironically, the guys at Ace Hdw. told me that the Leslie's store I came from was notoriously bad with complaint issues like this from other customers. This location and its staff have been very helpful in testing and maintaining our new to us pool build. At 15,750 gallons we need to stay on top of our water chems, and we use Leslie's to test monthly. Randee the GM here is very helpful and knowledgeable. She has answered all my newbie questions with patience and grace. We bring our sample each time and in and out in less than 10 minutes. That is if I don't gawk at all the cool pool floats and toys. Went in to get water tested and once again Santos was so incredibly rude. Two weeks ago we went in to get water tested and buy some shock that was on sale, I had a box on counter, he turns around and yells at me you can only buy 12! I said I am buying ten in the same tone he took with me. We left and came back when Randee was working and she was very helpful and apologized for him. Today again he was rude and talks down to you! I was visibly shaking and felt threatened by him and got out as fast as I could because I was alone in the store with him! read more

This used to be a very good pool supply company. Not sure what happened but customer support turned horrible. Wait times are crazy and when you do get to talk to someone they aren't helpful and have an attitude. I'm done with them. This review does not apply to the RSM store and management. I thought that Leslie's did a good job when they installed my new pump and new cartridge filter only a few months back. However, I cannot get the basket out of the pool to empty it. The young fellow said the opening was wrong but it has worked for years til he brought me this basket. Now that summer is here, this is becoming more difficult to clean every day. Randi and Tyler in the store are great but service to the home is impossible. I am waiting a week now for a return call. I called headquarters and had to leave a message. They told me to contact service. Duh! I complained about this when they first did it but still nothing. I'm told it is under warranty but if they keep stalling, it won't be. read more

Last year the leaf vacuum canister cracked in several places and needed to be replaced. I was in the hospital at the time and called the local Leslie's store to purchase a new leaf vacuum canister and to arrange/pay for the installation of the canister. On the day that the tech arrived he took one look at the cracked canister and said he doesn't want to remove it, rather just bypass it because it involves a little digging (which is exactly what I paid for). He just left the new canister since it was paid for and refused to install it. Too me this sounds like the tech is just plain lazy and afraid of a little work. So I contacted another company I had dealt with before and they came over to install it, no questions asked but it was a little more expensive. Had I not been hospitalized I would have done the work myself. Leslie's offers a service to test your water. And invariably you'll need chemicals and they are very keen on selling shock, algaecide, and chlorine. The problem is I took the same sample to 3 different Leslie's stores in the area and got 3 different results, so who to believe? About the best thing you can do is to educate yourself. Google troublefreepools and learn that you only need liquid chlorine and acid once you have a Cyanuric acid level between 30 and 50 ppm. If you keep using tablets in chlorine they include cyanuric acid and once your levels head north of 50 ppm and approach 75 to 100 ppm you'll need to add a tone of chlorine on a daily basis or partially/fully drain your pool to reduce the amount of cyanuric acid. Now Leslie's can even sell you a tablet that runs about $75 per 10,000 gallons. They sell you tablets chlorine which will cause you to drain your pool or buy 1 or more tablets to reduce the cyanuric acid. It's a scan designed to fleece you of your money. I purchased a professional test kit from Amazon, Taylor K-2006 along with a Taylor 9265 magnetic stirrer. I drained the pool and performed a chlorine wash, then refilled the pool and added 1 Gallon of Natural Chemistry 7401 Liquid Swimming Pool Stabilizer and Conditioner which was enough to raise the cyanuric acid level to 24 ppm for my 13,300 gallon pool, and then used 3" chlorine tablets (3 per week for 2 weeks) to raise the cyanuric acid level to 35 ppm; you want the level to be between 30 and 50 ppm, but no higher, so continued use of the chlorine tablets (which are expensive as well) will cause more harm than good. Over time as water evaporates and you add more water to the pool they cyanuric acid levels will eventually drop and when they fall to under 30 ppm, you can add more tablets (no more than 2 or 3 per week until dissolved & recheck the cyanuric acid levels). The trick to not having algae in the pool is to keep the chlorine levels above 5 ppm. I target 8 ppm and adjust the amount of liquid chlorine that I add each day or every other day (in the colder months) so the level heads for 8 ppm. I've been doing this since September 2019 and no longer have any algae issues. Before this when I was so dependent on Leslie's to test my water and sell me shock, algae remover (yellow or green), stabilizers, etc ... I would spend several hundreds of dollar per year. I use liquid acid (pick up both chlorine and acid from Home Depot in a 2 gallon box). You pour the acid straight into the pool in one spot in the deep end, and you distribute the chlorine in several spots. I spend much less in chemicals and really only need 2 kinds (once in a while I will use some baking soda from the 13.3 lb bag I buy at Costco to keep the total alkalinity between 100 and 120 ppm, but if you keep the cyanuric acid levels between 30 - 50 ppm and total alkalinity between 100 to 120 ppm all you'll ever need is liquid chlorine or liquid muriatic acid and you'll save lots of money and never have algae issues again. This is what Leslie's doesn't want you to know. Troublefreepools even has a calculator at their website that you can enter data from your pool and it will tell you exactly how much to add. I rounded things off and use a 24 oz jar for both chlorine and acid. I still shop at Leslie's but only for a brush to clean the sides of the pool or a deep net to skim the pool. read more

I love this place, they are always very helpful and friendly. They will ask if I need a few items but will never push a sales pitch other than advising of sales they are currently having. Leslie's Swimming Pool supplies recently bought out National Pool Services (NPS) on East Thunderbird and Tatum Blvd. I was led to NPS several years ago through private contractors who said they were the BEST and knew how to relate to customers. I couldn't agree more with that statement and I was disappointed to see them sell out to Leslie's. I have been in there twice in the past two months and am reminded each time of why i quit going to Leslie's years ago. I feel they talk down to the customer and have little knowledge of how to stabilize a pool with our erratic weather conditions. Along with that, they seem to have increased their prices, laid off or fired most of the employees from NPS and are not interested in helping the customer. I am looking elsewhere to find a company that meets the standards I felt NPS set up years ago. read more
