The Leslie's Pool Supply in Port Jefferson counterperson was making me a little bonkers. I need a new pool filter and he was explained things that weren't clear and concise. I told him I do not want a DE filter, what else is there? After looking at a bunch of SKU numbers in a catalog, I found exactly what I was looking for. Except it's in the Centereach store. I say peace and zoom to Centereach, I'm told to ask for Niki. I walk in and Niki is a pool dynamo. She's on the phone, talking to customers and putting the other counter people in motion. When she hangs up, I tell her I was just in Port Jeff and was told to ask for you. She tells me, that's the wrong filter. It's not what you need, take a walk in the back with me. She shows me all the filters and explains each one. When we get to the register, I ask if there's a military discount. She put it into the register and says every time I buy anything from Leslie's, the discount will apply. Man, I just dig great customer service. Niki is the "Pink Ladies" of pools! Nicki the store manager was one classy, retail professional! I went to this particular store 10 miles from my usual location, because after a search on leslies.com for a diving pool bolt kit, it said two stores on LI had it in stock( one of them being this location!) and of course, this was not correct. I tried calling before I went, but of course no one ever picked up! So despite being the incredible manager Nicki can't do this alone! So if corporate doesn't get their act together and pay the kind of starting wages Long Islanders command so their stores can at least pu their phones and better integrate their web technology data base with their brick and mortar locations' data base technology, going into these stores might as well be like going into a mind numbing DMV location! read more

Pools. They are a wonderful thing. But chemistry? If you're like me chemistry class was a loooong time ago. Toss those pool chemistry sets away and let Leslie's work some magic for you. Grab a bottle of water and head directly over. Have no worry, this joint isn't going to hard sell you. But they're knowledgeable. And polite. And they carry all the big heavy things to your car. (Does everything really need to come in 50lb containers? Yes. Yes they do. Save the energy for unloading at home.) In addition to providing pool water analysis Leslie's offers a wide range of product. (Liners, above ground pools, filters, security systems for gates, floats, etc. etc. etc!) If an item is not stocked in one location they're readily call over to another location to check for you. But like I said before. They're just plain ole' nice. And that's worth every penny. read more

Just had an amazing experience at Leslie's Pool Supplies in Centereach NY. Opened my pool a few days ago only to find a very cloudy pool. After a couple of days trying to get it clear I went into Leslie's and had my water tested Nikki helped me told me exactly what I needed then 2 days later my old filter breaks went back to see Nikki she remembered me. I used to go to other pool stores in the area but Nikki gave me great and personal customer service made me feel like a friend. Little swimming pool supply store close to where I grew up. Decent prices, and pretty much carries everything you need to get your pool ready for summer. Plus, they carry a large amount of inflatables and pool toys. I especially like the floating lounge chairs that have cup holders for my beers! read more

Had an great experience there today! Previously I had issues in Leslie's ( a few years back ) so I stopped going there. Today I needed my Polaris fixed and knew they would have the parts. Niki the manager helped me and she was great. She fixed the broken belt and Axel quickly, while being personable and professional, and all while delegating responsibility and answering questions for the other onsite employee. The other day we had the absolute most horrendous experience at Leslie's pool supply in Centereach. Myself and my husband went into the store to upgrade our filter/pump for a new 18x48 intex pool we just had delivered. The employee helping us was clearly distracted, and very unprofessional. She asked how she could help us and as we started to explain, she then went off to have another conversation with an employee that walked In the door and left us standing there. We probably should have left at that point because it was completely rude but we stayed. After discussing the options they had, she proceeded to say, oh do you want to go with the cheaper option? We said no whatever option is in stock. She goes oh okay bc I know people who get intex pools are usually "short". I said excuse me? Because I honestly didn't hear her at first. She goes you know people who get intex pools are short so I always offer the cheapest option first. I said, What do you mean "short"? She goes, well, people who usually buy Intex pools don't usually have a lot of money. I was like well that is quite the assumption to make. It was at that time I also realized her name tag said "store manager" and I was completely appalled. I could tell my husband was starting to lose his patience with the comment as well so this was not going to end well. She then said "so what option will you go with"? We were like none and as a store manager you should really be more mindful of the things you assume and say. She goes yeah I realized that as it came out of my mouth. At that point, we left. But how dare you allow someone like this to "manage" your store. There's no sense in complaining to the GM because I later came to find out that she's married to him. But I will NEVER give them my business, ever. read more

The entire staff and the manager Nikki has been nothing but helpful in solving all my pool problems and getting my pool chemistry on track whenever needed. Nikki even went out of her way to take my filter grids apart and reassemble it in the manifold properly. I won't go to any other Leslie's location or pool store. Niki, the store manager, is just about as great as you could ask for when it comes to customer service. I went in looking for a pool heater about as unknowledgeable as one could be, and she took the time to explain everything to me, different features and benefits of various options and set everything up from a service and installation standpoint. Followed up with me on various steps and made the experience much better than working with some of the independent pool companies out there run by good technicians but lowest customer service, and follow up. Leslie's has both. Would definitely buy here again and now use them for all my service needs. read more

Awful customer service! I went in there today to ask for help purchasing the right connections for my new filter pump hoses, the sales guy pointed at the wall and said "that's all the intex products we have", I then took out the old connecter and new connecter and asked him if he could help me find the right fittings and again all he did was point to the wall and left me to try to figure it out on my own. I normally don't do these things but since this affected my home life I have to. Last week I was in the store and was waiting in line with my 9 year old daughter waiting to be checked out and the woman working was checking out and doing a water test and got a little loud with one customer after he left the woman went on a rant about bad customers she has had and one of them was how a customer unzipped his pants. Now I get how that was a terrible experience to go through but to tell that to other customers while children are in the store is not right I work in retail and i know my employer wouldn't condone this. my daughter on the ride home asked me about what she said and honestly didn't even know what to say. When you shop there don't bring your kids you don't know what they will hear! read more
