Despite the fact it was after hours (evening before the party), Rod actually spent 20 minutes with me via FaceTime to diagnose the problem, assist me with repairing a valve and priming a pump. He provided me with specific instructions and he was able to get everything working again all via FaceTime. HE DIDNT CHARGE ME ANYTHING! He was sympathetic to my time critical situation, and he genuinely wanted to be helpful. He would not accept any money despite my insistence. You just don't see this type of authentic integrity anymore. Excellent work ethic, extremely knowledgeable, quick response, and he didn't feel right charging me simply because he wasn't there in person. The FaceTime instruction was extremely educational and his thorough step-by-step guidance was spot on. He was very patient with me. Other companies said it would be $475 just to come out and take a look. This is the only company I will use for all my future pool service needs. Hard to find people like Rod these days. I asked him about converting my filter from DE to Cartridge and about tanks that were branded. He offered a used filter tank for a price and said he was confirming its condition and I said ok. Then he came back and the installed price was almost double but he aid that included cartridges and installation so I agreed. Then he showed up and left dropped off the tank all sealed up and said it was ready to install and he was having someone install it that afternoon. I did not see any new cartridges anywhere so I opened the tank and found old dirty cartridges inside. So I told him I thought I was getting new cartridges and he responded cartridges were expensive, I told him I understood but thought the much higher price included the $200 cartridges. So I told him I did not want it with old cartridges and he said he would pick it up. It just left a bad taste because he never communicated he was using old dirty cartridges. My intent was to speak with him the next time he came but he sent someone else the next week. Then this week he did not show up on the scheduled day and when I asked if he was coming he called me and said it was not working out. I feel it did not work for him because I was upset and confronted him on using dirty cartridges. Martin cleans pools well but if it weee me I would not ask him for anything above a weekly pool cleaning service (no filter cleaning, maintenance and no repairs because that was-completely different experience). It's really disappointing that he chose the route he chose versus having a difficult conversation to try and clear up his tarnished reputation with me that could have been just poor or ambiguous communication.
