Walked in at the guy at the counter barely looked up from his phone to acknowledge us. I specifically asked if he knew about a certain brand of pool equipment and he said yes. When I asked my question, his response was oh, I dont know enough about that. OK - gets better. Was looking at a specific product and pricing. There was one price on the stand and wanted to confirm. The price was almost 2 1/2 times the advertised price. When questioned, he said " i guess they change prices all the time" No explanation or questions. Will not stop by this one again. read more

Stopped by for the second time at about 4pm yesterday, October 4, 2025. I checked the website ahead of time to be certain they would be open. Their website says "Mon-Sat 9:00 am to 6pm" and the sign on the door says the same thing. When I got there they were closed up tight. Second time this has happened to me. Competitive prices and good selection but the worst customer service bordering on aggressive from the manager Rick. He is gruff and unhelpful, and likely homophobic & racist based on how he treats different kinds of customers. This location lost me as a customer today! Rick the General Manger was the most unhelpful and unhappy person. He seems like someone who truly hates dealing with customers or with the public. I want in for a water test and must have disturbed his nap. Because when I asked a question about an algae issue, his response was I have no idea what your issue is you haven't had your water tested in over a year. The test he runs tells him what my issues could be and he missed out on selling me 4-5 products to correct problems. I guess his store doesn't need the money during these times. I went into your Leslie's in Palm Springs tonight and didn't realize the time. Your guy was getting ready to close the door and stepped out and asked me what I needed. I said I wanted to rest my water and have my salt cell tested. He told me to come on in. He took my cell and told he he would go back And start it then come and do my test. He was very sweet to do this. I'm sure he was glad to be going home but took it upon himself to help me. The cell was good and he gave me my test and told me all the issues I had. My pool man has been doing a terrible job and your guy explained everything I needed to do. I don't usually post on places like that but he saved me from coming all this way again tomorrow. Leslie's list me as a customer today. I've had problems with them before refusing to honor the warranty is on things. But today I took back a thermometer I just bought two weeks ago. it was broken. The thermometer mercury had detached from the actual scale part of the thermometer. Since it was brand new, I was hoping to exchange it for one that wasn't broken. The person at the desk refused. Without a receipt, no exchanges. I showed him on my credit card where I had paid for the thermometer the exact amount was listed on my credit card. I only bought the one thing. He refused. When brick-and-mortar businesses don't give good customer service, it forces us as customers to shop on Amazon. Now, I buy all my pool supplies on Amazon.com. I will never set foot in Leslie's pool supplies again. read more

Despite having a line of customers and being the only service representative at that moment, he was polite and friendly, answered my questions, and carried my purchase out to my car! It has been awhile since I posted a negative comment, BUT this is definitely one. I have a friend that has a pool that's green. Things are a bit tuff for her now. I walked into the store at 3pm Sunday August 5th. No one was at the counter so I waited and a guy come out and I explained my friend has a pool that is green and I need to know what to buy to clean it up. He was short and a bit agitated and told me it depend to what chemicals. I said it's a salt water pool and I don't know what's wrong. He raised his voice and said how would he known. I told him he was out of line and I am sorry to say I told him he was being an a**. I left without purchasing anything. I apologize for using the "A" word, but he was one. I questioned the price and was told "that's it", got home and checked Amazon and their price is under $31.00 delivered free. I went into the store today to have my pool water tested. I have a pool guy but it just seems the water isn't right and I know it's hot out but we're getting that occasional yellow algae. I spoke with Paul at the store who was so friendly and helpful and tested the water. There were some definite issues with my pool water that need to be addressed. The computer printed out a report and recommended quantities to remedy the situation. They said I could show it to the pool guy. No high pressured sales to get me to buy everything in the store, just honest and friendly service. Thank you Paul, I will definitely be back. I had them do a water test and the two guys in the store were great. Very helpful. When I went back a week later after making some changes to the water, they were gone and instead there was a rude guy behind the counter. He scolded me for even considering a test this time of year. "Don't you know you don't test when the water is cold? Didn't anyone ever tell you that?" Well, the nice guys from the week before didn't. I told him that. He tossed the printout at me without the slightest offer of an explanation. Horrible customer service. He was wearing a filthy cloth face mask too. He really hates his job. I'm taking this time to recognize this store and especially Rick the store manager. I was looking for umbrellas which were on sale and they didn't have sufficient stock for what I needed. I tried on-line and calling the 800# but they wouldn't provide me the discount. I called Rick back and he located numerous umbrellas for me from the surrounding stores and drove to them to pick them up for me and was able to get me the expired discount since he's been working on this for me. This is a sign of a great leader going above and beyond to demonstrate he values his customers. He's a great role model to his staff and I as a customer feel truly valued. read more

Wow ... am so disappointed in Leslie's in general. Purchased a pool pump through this location in the summer of 2009. It was a pricey pump ... about $1200. A couple weeks ago the pump went out. I called this Leslie's back and explained the issue with the onboard computer. They said one of their technicians could help ... but the soonest they could get out here was a week away. So the pool sat with no circulation for a week. The tech arrived, took one look at the pump's display (which was not functioning, as I explained when I called in) and said, "Oh, we can't service these. You just need to purchase a new drive (the computer that operates the pump). That's your only option." Then he wanted to collect a $111 service call fee (which I had previously been told was only going to be $95 ... he explained the extra was for fuel ... but I refused to pay the extra). As an option, he wanted to sell me a new pump for $1,300 because it was "more reliable." For the $1,200 I spent originally, I would expect reliability and service. The new part was close to $700 plus nearly $200 for installation. Instead I ordered the part for $200 less from a mail order company and will replace it myself. What a waste of time and money it was to call Leslie's in the first place. read more

I know Leslie's is going to cost more, but today was the last straw. I found a filter cartridge replacement online for $43 and thought I would try Leslie's to see their price: $129. Three times as much!! I need 4 cartridges and that would be almost $600 to replace them. No way. As for customer service, I have had mostly friendly service shopping there. I have to question the expertise of many of the employees, though. I take care of my own pool, and I have learned a lot about taking care of a pool in our heat and wind and hard water conditions. I have heard Leslie's employees giving a lot of bad advice to other customers in order to sell their overpriced pool chemicals. I've been coming to this store for ten years now and have received very good service especially from Brice, the store manager. They have a great price-matching guarantee, which I have used several times now. Brice is very knowledgeable about pool chemistry and equipment so I have a lot of confidence in him. Same thing goes for Russ, also at the store. My only complaint, and it's not the store manager's fault at all but apparently Leslie's company policy, is that if they're helping you, and the phone rings, they leave you standing there to help the person who called until they are finished with the caller. THEN they come back to helping you. Amazing. I have my own business as well and would never think of doing that to a client! Why can't they just put the caller on hold, or take the caller's number and call him back? read more

I used to love these guys. But heed my advice and don't ever buy any major equipment from these guys. They don't stand behind it. I bought a heater that cost a couple thousand dollars and now when I need service they are referring me to the manufacturer. They were all full of smiles when it came to taking my money and installing the thing but now that it needs repair they don't want anything to do with me. I could not be more disappointed. read more

I had a brand new filter and heater installed 5 years ago. My heater just failed because the system rusted out. Apparently a stop valve was not installed which would have prevented water to backflow and sit in the system. Leslie's will not honor their work and kept referring to the manuafacturer warranty of 2 years. There's a difference here between the proper installation and a manufacturer warranty. Needless to say, my business will go elsewhere. read more

I try to support local brick and mortar stores because I like to touch items, check for quality and maybe even get some advice on use, but these stores like Leslie's need to understand that we also check online for the cost. If I can buy a "shepherd's hook" online for about 22 bucks and Leslie's is charging almost $50 then I give up. I can understand 10, 20 or even 30% more but 200% - come on! And when you try to return something they act like they are doing you a favor. I bought two 2" foam floaties with reservations and returned them the next day because they DON'T FLOAT above the water. They guy said they normally don't take them back because "they've been in the water". Seriously. $240 worth of floats that don't float and I get all kinds of attitude when they don't work as advertised on the box. Geez. read more

I wanted to replace the pump and filter on my pool, so walked into Leslies Palm Springs. The new manager arranged to have a sales person visit my home, and he explained I would need to pay the salesman $50 for the visit. When he got there, the first thing he said was, "It will cost an additional $37 for my travel." Ahhh--- bait and switch. I refused to pay the extra amount, and he gave in quickly, making me think it was for the guy's own pocked. For my $50, I got an extremely vague quote; eg, "New pump" with no details. I pried, and finally got him to tell me which filter he was quoting. After he left, I looked it up online and the cost was slightly over half of Leslie's quote. He was also quoting an inferior model to the one I had. I have now replaced the pump and filter with better models than he quoted, and at one half the cost. It cost me $50 to learn that people should avoid Leslies Palm Springs! read more

Well, the 4 year old pentair heater wasn't working so contacted Leslie's. A week and a half later, the repair man showed up, a day earlier than scheduled, but fortunately I was home. Said it was one of 2 parts, probably the first one so, order the part and a week and a half later came to put it in. Wasn't it. Had to test to see of it was the 2nd part WHICH COULD BE DONE WHETHER OR NOT THE 1st PART WAS IN OR NOT! So, why, you ask, did he not check that part the 1st time he was here? Good question! Had to get the 2nd part, sure in stock somewhere in the valley. Well, another week and a half later, he calls and will be there in 15 minutes with the new part. Well, the heater really needs a 3rd part. Really! And you work on these systems how ofter? Just how many parts are there to a hot water heater? Well, still not working right. They haven't called with an estimate (was told takes 3 - 4 hours to replace this other part so wanted an estimate up front, especially now that I've paid $350 and still do not have a properly working heater). Really people! Is this the best you can do? Then, my Kreepy Krawler hose broke. Went to Leslie's to get a new one. Was suggested the one piece rather than the 4 foot pieces. Took their advise. Go it home and it didn't fit. To Big! Well, if I might have needed an adapter, especially after what I told them I currently had, don't you think they would have known. Went back and was trying to be sold the wrong one! Really people! You are the only game in town so this is the type of service you provide! What choice do we have? Heard about a place by Jensen's so going to check it out soon! read more

Looks like things are changing understaffed and looks like prices have gone up pool valve approx $27.00 Amazon $11.00 I will only go there now if I absolutely have to. I think that's what there counting on pay more for convenice they will lose in the long run IMHO. read more

Disappointing though brief experience. We were in need of some repairs to a heater and were interested I replacing an old pool pump. Initial talks with Leslie were quite positive. Seemed like they knew their stuff. They might. . . However, we scheduled a time for a repair call and provided access information to the folks at the store. The technician showed up as planned but we weren't there and he didn't get the access info from the store. Instead of leaving us a message requesting the information, he just left. I contacted the store a couple days later only to find out the technician never got in. We arranged for a second visit for the following Monday. Two days after that scheduled visit, we got a phone call from a central scheduling office confirming our appointment for Friday. I explained that the person should have already been there on Monday. I told them to cancel the visit and then I called the store. I told them that given they couldn't even get the scheduling right for the diagnosis, I had no confidence they could do whatever work was needed. read more

A couple of days ago I walked into the Palm Springs store looking for some pool cleaning equipment. I am a new pool owner and so had to ask the sales staff for recommendations. They set me up with a rake, a vacuum attachment and a brush. The person waiting on me asked about the size of my pool and recommended a small 4-8 ft telescoping pool. They did not have it so I picked it up in Cat city, along with a 25' hose. When I tried to use the equipment I realized the pole and hose were not long enough to do my pool. My wife tried to return it to the Palm Springs location. When she walked in the manager was very rude to her and wanted to know if the pole and the hose had been in water. Of course they had otherwise how would we know they were not the right size for my pool. The man turned away from her and began helping another customer and took over 10 minutes to return to her problem. When he looked at the receipt he said that since the equipment was from Cat City he could not accept it. He said "I don't take back scrap from other stores." He was rude and condescending. My wife returned the products to Cat city. The sales person there was super friendly and also took back the filter cover we mistakenly had bought from the Palm Desert store w/o a complaint. Palm Springs has lost my business and I will gladly use the store in Cat City from now. read more
