Last night we went out to Lester's Diner to try something different. Oh! that it was. I have to say that I had stopped by a couple of days before for quick breakfast and it was excellent. Last night was terrible! I decided to order the chicken souvlaki on a stick or should I say the RUBBER DUCK ON THE STICK! When it arrived there were two screws of plain chicken with approximately 10 perfectly small square pieces on each one. Looked like it came straight from a factory that way. Well I took one bite and it was so disgusting I had to spit it out. I know, gross. Ate my salad and baked potato which was fine and called it a night spending over $50 for one appetizer and two meals. Do yourself a favor and eat only off the breakfast menu. I will ad that the waitress was very nice but don't get the factory processed RUBBER DUCK. So called Chicken Souvlaki. read more

Worst experience ever. Was served soup and was left sitting there with no setting or napkins. Then lunch came, grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Clear as day a hair was sitting right on top of the bread. Waitress left to replace. I got up to leave and told cashier what happened. ZERO STARS Not a fan of this place. I usually take my Mother to Yia Yia's but they went out of business recently. Ok, waitress brings us both waters without being asked. I've been here multiple times and never had a problem, then again I've never met the manager up until now... my poor waitress was soo apologetic and I truly felt bad for her. Sunday dinner choice and very pleased! We enjoyed the Chicken pot pie dinner that includes choice of salad or soup and a side. I had the Mozza Ball shop that was DELICIOUS! Might dare say the best I've had so far in S. Florida. The chicken pot pie was rockin my taste buds as well. Filled with huge chunks of chicken, peas potatoes etc. topped with a flaky crust. So much that I had to bring half home. I then chose a lemon coconut cake for dessert which I brought half home as well. This diner is clean and service was on point. Well worth the trip to Margate. Lester's is one of my go-to diners in the South Florida area, but out of all the locations, this is probably the location I end up going to the least. I'm not sure why since its closest to home, but I think out of all of them, it stands out the least. I think this location has got to be the biggest of them all. It has two large dining areas and a large bar in the back center of the restaurant and ample tv's displaying whatever sporting event is going on or some sort of news. As always, it's busy. Lester's always seems to be busy no matter what time of day you're there. I ordered my typical chicken salad club with a side of fries. The portion was much smaller here than other locations- especially the fries. Such a small portion of fries. I love their fries so I was let down that there were so few in the order- it was probably a good thing in the end because I'm sure they aren't good for you, but man they taste good. The chicken salad sandwich was sort of dry. I liked it overall, but in comparison to others, it wasn't my favorite. The service was good. My waitress refilled my drink when needed and made sure everything was ok. Nothing bad that would make me never come here again, but like I said, this isn't my favorite location. I was in the mood for diner food and stumbled upon this joint. I am so happy that I did. I found my favorites and stuck to them. I get the shimp salad in a wrap and the cobb salad with shrimp. The only thing that I dont like is that the manager wont let me sub my shrimp for chicken, he says there is no way to do because you are adding to it (rolls eyes) The other lesters let me do it his response those are totally different owners. I let him slide because he has the most dreamy gray eyes lol. But I do end up spending like 25 bucks on a salad because of this. The salad is delicious though as well as the wrap. I get it without lettuce because I learned that when you add lettuce it will take up alot of space where you could have shrimp salad. We wanted diner food on Friday night so we checked and many closed at 8am. Lester's was open and we used to love the original on St Rd 84. So we popped into the Margate location for a quick cheap dinner. The location was slow and about 1/4 filled. Our waitress was extremely polite and respectful. The service was fine and place seemed clean overall. The food however was not cheap, and the proteins seemed average frozen type foods. This was not how diners used to make things on the fly. I ordered a hamburger and patties were clearly preformed frozen type meat. Son got the Pastrami and again clearly not made on premises and fatty. Wife got the Gyro platter with a nice salad, however the meat was clearly preformed pressed gyro meat. She even remarked it looked like the old Penn Dutch Gyro meat. Kinda like a thick flat slice of meat. This location fails to have the huge bakery items the original location does , but did offer some muffins and cookies. The old cashier checkout area remains and assistant was very pleasant. Meal ran 45 bucks before tip, for three sandwiches and no sodas. Mistakes happen but when I called twice and was told twice the manager silvio would call me as he's the only one who can process the refund and never calls. Simple review. Clean, courteous and the food was delicious. This place is a gem, (easy to reach location) and the menu will more than likely exceed your expectations. Tons of choices! My server was Yajaira. Definitely come and show her some love! She was awesome, great attitude and a great smile. Every time I come here I leave satisfied. This visit was to pick up food to go. The staff is always very friendly and quick to serve you. The inside looks renovated and it looks really nice. I always come for their breakfast because I love it. I always get the ham and cheese omelet which is huge! I also like the home fries. My wife always like the 2-2-2 and swears they have some special orange juice! I've never gone to any of the other locations since this is close to me. I will always come to this location because of the consistent good experiences and the great quality of the food. There is a lot of parking available in the back of the diner. Lester's is a diner offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a small bakery section. I have been to this particular location several times and the food quality is pretty consistent. On this last visit, I ordered the spinach and feta omelet with home fries and white toast. The omelet was perfectly cooked, and was really good. The potatoes, I asked to be well done, but unfortunately not quite right. The buttered tosst was actually not very good, which is odd to say. On this occasion, the toast was somewhat chewy, and it seemed they used melted butter to partially drizzle on the bread. The coffee was pretty good and decently strong, which was much welcomed. The service was good once she was able to get to us, although it was close to 10 minutes in. The prices are reasonable, and the decor is fun with pop icons and historical photos lining the walls. Overall, it was an OK visit, and I will probably go back, although I may try another location for comparison. read more

The remodeling goes a long way but there still are booths you may want to avoid -- where the A/C blows too hard. That being said they have a good selection of early bird dinners (called twilight) which includes a couple sides and desert plus soup to start. We didn't feel like so much food so we ordered from the regular menu. Lots of comfort items there. I got the hot open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, natch, and a side of applesauce. Luckily I like gravy as the entire plate was swimming with it. The plate was covered with slices of turkey on top of white bread and a mound of mashed potatoes with a little plastic cup of whole cranberry sauce. The applesauce was cinnamon and had big chunks. My kind of side. My husband got the tuna salad platter -- it came with potato salad, coleslaw, hard boiled eggs, tomato, onion, green pepper and black olives. Very healthy. My friend said Lester's in margate is the best out of all the Lester's. So we went. I ordered the Turkey dinner. It's served with Turkey gravy and I ordered mash potatoes. And spinach. They also offer a soup or salad with dinner. I had a matzah ball soup. The spinach was a little too garlicky for my taste. But the dinner was really good for a diner. I'm not a big diner person. My parents brought me here today for the first time and I immediately was excited, judging a book by its cover I was definitely digging the old diner feel to the place. The only reason I can't give the full 5 stars is because we walked in and waited to be seated, the hostess noticed my mother but didn't acknowledge her at all and we were literally the only people there waiting to be seated, so my dad eventually went up and made himself known, then we were seated immediately. I thought it was rude not to acknowledge my mother when we walked in. They have a beautiful display case of muffins and pastries, as well as a 360 display of pies, cakes, other decadent desserts. Each booth has a juke box at the head of the table, not sure if they all still work but definitely a cool addition to the decor of the entire place. We were seating in their back area that had just been remodeled, it was nice and clean had a good amount of sunlight thanks to all the windows. My mom and dad both ordered Lesters Big Deal, 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, two slices of bacon, 2 sausage links and a sausage patty. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, it came with crispy hash browns, a biscuit, two eggs, and I ordered my sausage gravy on the side. I was happily surprised when my plate got to the table, after the 10-15min wait the food arrived nice and hot. My hash browns were crispy and savory. My steak melted in my mouth, an almost buttery flavor, so freaking good. The eggs were cooked over medium just how I like them and after tossing a little tabasco on them they were killer! Breakfast is always good here. I've been here dozens of times & literally there has been nothing wrong with the food ever. My issue is I could not get a 2nd cup of coffee today. That is 2 out of the last 3 times I've gone there that this has happened. I tried to get someone's attention for a while. Ok, I'll be honest, I came here on New Year's Day at 10am in the morning; the place was frantic and packed with hungover partyers and hungry families. It also looked like they were understaffed for the holiday rush. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that my experience is probably not the norm (just by looking at the other reviews). First off, this is the largest diner I've seen. Seriously, don't expect to walk into a small mom 'n pop when you dine here. It's got that typical diner feel though -- laminate everything and bouncy vinyl booths. A little outdated, but everything is kept up and clean. They also have wifi (yay), but it wasn't working that morning (boo). Service was friendly enough, a little rushed and impersonal, but the section seemed understaffed, like I said earlier. It looked like there were only two servers for the entire area (needed at least three, especially since it was a holiday). Our water glasses were never refilled and our server took forever to bring out our drinks -- my hot chocolate didn't come out until the end of our meal. He was kind enough to comp it though, since it had taken so long and it was in a smaller cup than usual. The food was good. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted the way it was supposed to. My boyfriend ordered the Plain Waffle with Sausage, I ordered the French Toast with Strawberries, and our friend had their Ham Steak and Eggs Combo (came with Hash Browns and Toast). The Waffle was good, a little average, but it's made well. The French Toast was perfect; thick cut slices and fluffy. I really loved that they gave me fresh strawberries and not the syrupy canned stuff -- it really makes the breakfast a lot fresher. Props to the ham steak for being brined instead of sweetened; not only did it hold up really well, but it tasted great! Verdict? Average -- good for a diner. Went in on a Sunday around 11:00 am with my mom dad sister and her three kids. We called ahead to have our name put on the list. We were seated approximately 5 minutes after arriving. Our first waitress seemed to be in the weeds so (without us asking) another waitress took over our table, Marissa, she was good, knew the menu and handle our big table well. The food is HUGE, each plate can be shared between two people easily. Omelets, bacon, ham, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, and biscuit were awesome. Lots of choices on the menu, but I'm 99.9% everything in the menu is good. Recommend for family meals. Just like any restaurant on a weekend, expect to wait a little bit for food/drinks, it's busy.
