I have been to Lester's a few times while visiting my family in St Louis. It is a decent sports bar and a great place to catch whatever game you are trying to watch. However, the food has never blown me away. I went with my sister and her son and they were very accommodating and gave us a booth. Service is always friendly and quick. They also were quick to give my nephew an ice water with a top on it, which pleased him. My sister got the Buffalo Chicken wrap which was pretty big and looked delicious. My nephew got the kids mini burgers with fries (the fries were amazing). I got a half Caesar salad and the chili. Both were fine but not amazing. I also got some Sour Pickles as a starter. They were not good. I prefer a Kosher Dill and these just weren't all that good. All in all, this place is decent, especially if you are looking for sports. My go to order here at Lester's is always the chicken wings. I like my wings extra crisp, so they oblige me when I order them, extra crispy. They do it, without drying them out. They're crispy and the meat is still juicy. The wings are seasoned so well, I never use any dressing for dipping. If you do, they offer both, Blu Cheese and Ranch. To accompany my wings, I order a small house salad and that is when I order the Blu Cheese. Many restaurants I have the dressing served as a side, but I trust Lester and they do not over dress. They toss the lettuce with just enough dressing to provide a light and flavorful coating. My recent visit, I was fortunate to have Deborah as my server. She is a delight and for those of you who do not know her, she has been there since day one. This lady knows her stuff and is attentive to your needs as a diner. Dining during the pandemic, I was pleased to see hand sanitizer available and tables marked unavailable to provide social distancing. Lester's is a fun place to go hang out - especially if you you enjoy watching sports. There are TV's in every room playing every game. We came for the atmosphere, and were surprised how delicious the food was food. You can't go wrong on the menu and the beer selection is nice as well. The service is very nice and relatively quick! Bar staff was great. My friend ordered the chili which we have had before. It seems the recipe has been changed as this was more like vegetable soup. It contained huge hunks of celery (who puts celery in chili?) green pepper and onion. I mean huge chunks. Very few beans and some brisket. We did complain and the manager simply gave us a free bowl of the stuff we just complained about to take home. O well. I went to Lester's with my family for a Friday lunch and it was very busy. We should have put our name on Yelp waitlist after I noticed it was an option after being seated. I put our name on the waitlist and had to wait 20 minutes which was not bad at all. They do have open seating in the bar area but again was very busy. I strongly suggest the Rueben the Great--Your choice of traditional corned beef, pastrami or turkey with sauerkraut, thousand island dressing and Swiss cheese served on grilled rye bread. Got the brisket sandwich (5oz), fatty brisket cut into thin strips, very juicy and well seasoned, paired well with their spicy bbq sauce, I would have liked some onions or jalapenos but I'm nitpicking. The slaw was very creamy but needed some salt. Also got the garlic lemon pepper wings (1/2 lb), jumbo size wings , perfectly crispy and the meat inside was well cooked but not dry. When I am craving a Reuben I always come here. I love how they load the sandwich up with a generous amount of meat! They smoke it in house which you don't see a lot of places do in St. Louis. The bread, the meat, sauce and kraut are all good. I would recommend maybe adding a bit more of both to really make the flavor pop a bit more but it was good either way! read more

We hadn't been to the sports bar Lester's in a while so we decided to give it another try and we are glad we did. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is big, spread out, lots of booths, comfortable and filled with a variety of St. Louis sports memorabilia to check out as you eat. The bar is also spacious and you can catch sports games on tv anywhere you sit. The service was fantastic, with a very accommodating and friendly hostess, waitresses and staff. The food was also fantastic. What sets Lester's apart from most sports bar food is their delicious bbq selections including turkey, beef brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, and chicken as well as corned beef and pastrami. They also have some good local beers available on tap.The servings are huge and you can bring some home for later munchies. For an appetizer we ordered lemon pepper chicken wings and they were perfectly plump with a good mixture of drummies and flat wings but not too big in size and lightly smoked tossed in a delicious mixture of lemon pepper seasoning with a drizzle of butter. We also ordered onion rings for an appetizer, they were perfectly lightly beer battered, with juicy plump onions inside,crunchy on the outside and delicious (not soggy at all). I ordered the Ruben the Great (I chose pastrami over corned beef and turkey which is also an option). The Ruben was stacked with juicy cuts of pastrami nestled under sour kraut and thousand island with sautéed onions on toasted rye. Absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the pulled pork sliders for her meal (which is offered as an appetizer because she likes smaller portions). One of my sons ordered a French dip sandwich with sautéed onions and Au jus to dip it in. The beef was stacked and tender, the French bread was fresh. My other son had a full order of lightly smoked, juicy and tender baby back ribs which he devoured promptly. Most dishes came with the delicious shoe string style cut of French fries which were golden brown but tender. Lester's also provides each table with bottles of their delicious house made bbq sauces so you don't even have to keep asking for more sauce.
