Stopped in to check out the new place in my neighborhood. Ordered beef pho and a pork belly bahn mi. About $20 which I thought was very reasonable. The budget decor did a good and clever job of disguising the previous chicken place. Took the food home and was very pleased with the way everything was packaged. Sandwich was good. Thought the pickles were a little spicy for my taste but they were on the side so I didn't have to use them. Soup was good, too. Will definitely go back. This place has gone way down hill. Their menu is different they took off a lot. Nothing is updated on their website or yelp for new menu. So we ordered a pick up I went home and realized they switched my appetizer cause they didn't have the one I ordered anymore ( with out telling me) and my pho noodles were a sticky mess. They never loosen up in the broth and was un eatable. They were a big blob of sticky nasty noodles. The pho broth was also very weak. I ended up not even eating it and calling them to let them know. They did not care. The so called manager literally laughed as I told her the pho was disaster for many reasons. I even asked why hey would switch a appetizer that I ordered with out calling me. I asked for a refund of the pho and appetizer and never received it. I even went by the Resturant the next day with the still stick together noodles in the pho. Again was told I would have a refund. Interesting option for "pan Asian" cuisine in Sherman Oaks. They mostly specialize in Vietnamese and Thai food. The ambiance is nice - a cross between a communal food hall and a deli market. The pho is definitely the thing to get - the broth was very flavorful and the portion sizes were generous (plenty of noodles and meat). We also got the pad kra pow moo krob, which was a basil stir fry with crispy pork over rice and a runny egg. I asked for it to be spicy and it had just enough heat to be enjoyable. It was flavorful, but the meaty portions weren't moist and the crispy skin was a little tough. On the plus side, the egg was cooked well (yolky to coat the rest meat and rice). We also got the Kuaytiaw khua kai (very flavorful with a hint of wok flavor) and the tom yum noodle soup (flavorful broth and generous portions). Also got the Vietnamese coffee (it was kind of watery for my liking). Pricing was a bit on the high side, but the portion sizes are definitely big enough to share, so if you keep that in mind, pricing can be reasonable. The quality of the ingredients and the generous portions are definitely reasons to come back. read more

Omg...this place Sucks! Ordered a chicken banh mi sandwich and a pork banh mi sandwich. Both the chicken and pork was dry. The bread was obviously bought a local grocery store. The bread was soggy, not even toasted on the inside. They give you fries underneath... did we order fries? No! Not cool. We also ordered chicken wings. They too came SUUUUPER soggy. They included radishes and cauliflower! Since when did a vietnamese restaurant give cauliflower?!? Nah...oh..the cucumber wasnt even sliced correctly. They were at least a half inch thick. Like a giant piece of cucumber in the middle...alone..with no cilantro companion. Literally...there was no cilantro. Gag! They also gave me a giant twig of dark, stale, basil. What the hell? Vietnamese do not serve basil!!! They serve mint! This is by far the worst vietnamese restaurant in the Valley! This is in Sherman Oaks? I'm sorry...its very shi$ty. They give 1 packet of hoisen sauce. Like one packet will do justice??? But noooo...they give you threes packets of ketchup with your fries. Wtf!!! Did I order fries with extra ketchup? No! I order two typical banh mi sandwiches. Nothing else. Ballpark food is better than this. Fire these people!!! Close this restaurant. They dont deserve the commercial space! Eaten here three times and it's a gem! Great menu with some less typical Thai/Vietnamese items. We got the bun, the pho, and the crispy rice salad. They really did a good job revamping Goldie's! It's really pretty inside. Great service, friendly staff. It's a little pricey, but that's Sherman oaks! I had dinner from let's pho last night. The service was excellent but then again I had it at home and they delivered. I had the pho with meatballs and there was plenty of both. The prices were reasonable but for the tip on the service. Isn't this a ridiculous review but it most of it's true especially as to the quality of the food. I've had the worst experience today. Having to work through breakfast and lunch, I was looking forward to eating something delicious but this just added a huge frustration to my day. I ordered 2 beef pho, pork belly banh mi sandwich, and shrimp spring rolls through Uber Eats. The pho had a funky smell after I heated it up. It tasted completely bland with absolutely no flavor. I had to improvise by adding more lime and sriracha, but that didn't even do the trick. It tasted like oily water. I also don't understand why the red meat was packaged with the broth together as other places separate them for togo orders. The noodles came in an oyster pail box, so how do you think the noodles came out? In a freaking cube. The shrimp spring rolls were also a huge disappointment. The vegetables tasted weird and again, absolutely no flavor. Lastly, to get over my disappointments with the other two orders, I tried the banh mi in hopes to have eaten ONE satisfying meal and again, disappointment has struck again. First off, the bread was not your ordinary banh mi baguette. Second, it was really soggy with awful vegetables and pork belly that was pure fat! The slices of pork belly were thick, and nothing but lard. It was slimy and disgusting. Even the color of the sandwich looked off and unappetizing. I'm extremely disappointed as I've spent nearly $50 for this order which were all tossed away. It is understanding when one of the items were messed up, but all 3? Light, toasted french bread is key to this sandwich, not something you picked up at Ralph's. Next, although there was a lot if meat, it was swimming in sauce. There was actually too much meat, because there was no room for the required vegetables for Bahn Mi. At $12, I expected the best one I've ever had- not, not even close. And lay off the MSG. OMG...I almost don't want to write this for fear of causing a frenzy of customers, but the food was amazeballs! Unique communal ambiance with mix of old and new world decor. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door, self seating and they bring you a menu and a cup of water immediately. The Pho is satisfyingly more than i can handle and the broth was super savory. The presentation of sliced onions, bean sprouts, jalapenos and lime next to the stainless steel bowl was beautiful and they give you a little crunchy surprise of fried noodles to nosh on between bites. I ordered the beef bone marrow, which ive had elsewhere and the portion was huge...i didn't expect it to be so big so in my nievity i ordered an additional side to go with it.. I almost never leave Yelp reviews but I couldn't resist on this one. After calling around Sherman Oaks area looking for some Banh Mi sandwiches, I finally found this place that makes it. It is hardly Banh Mi. The flavor is off. They pack as much meat as possible so that any traditional flavor of Banh Mi would almost assuredly be lost. Oh and they're $10 EACH, minimum. Not to mention my fries were cold and I ordered 1 chicken, 1 pork and got 1 chicken and 1 beef. If you're looking for a good traditional Banh Mi at a reasonable price, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a sandwich sold at a Vietnamese restaurant that's packed with meat and over $10 I guess you could give it a shot. I gave 2 stars for a relatively cool indoor atmosphere.
