It was as if Judas himself returned to this mortal coil just to stab my friend and I in the eye and leave with our wallets. So here's the story: My vegetarian friend ordered A NUMBER 31: PHO CHAY. Now for those of you unseasoned pho aficionados (unlike me), that's means a vegetarian pho with VEGETARIAN broth. Additionally, the Pho Chay is marked as vegetarian in the menu. 5 minutes later, the waiter places a bowl of hot soup in front of him. Utterly ravenous from a previous night of lecherous debauchery, he eagerly digs in. As soon as he tastes the broth, however, a dismayed look flashes across his face. His supposedly quaint vegan broth had obviously been tainted by the soul of quivering chicken. Upon complaining that our PHO CHAY with vegetarian broth had actually come with CHICKEN BROTH, we proceeded to be the victim of such egregious levels of gaslighting that it can only be compared to that of medical gaslighting experienced by a middle aged women undergoing perimenopause. However, the server eventually gives in to his mistake. He offers a correction. But before he could abscond with the bowl, I asked him if he was planning to throw the meal away. He confirmed that indeed it would be tossed, so I asked if we could keep the original soup as I didn't want to waste food, and I personally have no qualms about eating meat. The server agrees and my friend receives his new bowl free of chicken cruelty. Now you may think, all is well! Cest La Vie right? Not so fast. Injustice imminent: As we went to pay the bill, we were promptly informed that in addition to screwing up our order, WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE BOWL OF UNWANTED CHICKEN PHO. Oh but wait! To add insult to injury, they told us it was 50% off. I was utterly flabbergasted. The 50% off gesture was so criminal it felt as if they had just taken a knife and STABBED US 46 TIMES, and felt kind enough to leave a wet napkin so we could wipe ourselves off. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. Oh and side note, the food was terrible.
