I came for a late dinner, a little after 8:30 pm on a Thursday evening, and had a lackluster experience. Was hoping to dine in but was told they only do carry out orders at that time, so instead of getting pho, I got bbq beef with rice ($17.95), which I figured would be easier to take out. Subbed a second portion of radish and carrot for potato salad. It took me ~15 minutes to get my food, which was longer than expected, given that no one else was ordering at the time. I was starving, so the wait felt like forever. I went to the bathroom while I was waiting, which is out in the hallway and shared with other businesses in the building (I assume). Unfortunately when I tried to re-enter the restaurant, the door was closed and I had to pop into the open kitchen door to ask one of the cooks to open the door. I wasn't happy about being locked out, especially since there was still 15 minutes to closing time at this point. Once I got the food, there were still 10 minutes until the restaurant closed, so I asked if I could quickly eat a couple bites there as I was starving. I mentioned I'd clean up after myself and leave before they closed, but the employee was pretty inflexible and kept repeating their policy of no dine-in after 8:30 pm. In the end, I just started eating and they didn't say anything. I ended up scarfing down half of my food in 5 minutes and finished the rest of it in the car. Fastest I've ever eaten. The ambiance is good, staff was ready to ask you if you needed help or needed a recommendation. They were smiling and when the server delivered my food, asked if we needed anything else. My date ordered the small bowl beef pho and I ordered the small bowl shrimp one. My date enjoyed her pho so much and so did I. The broth tasted delicious and we also had the shrimp rolls with the peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking but overall delicious. The photo shows four dumplings per order, but what you actually get is one small dumpling per order. We ordered two expecting a full portion and ended up with just two total. My go-to when I'm sick or feeling under the weather. I placed my order online and then given an estimate of when it's ready for pick up. This saves me time and I'm in and out of there quickly. I ordered their shrimp pho soup no spicy this time and with beef broth. The beef broth was a bit salty this time around, but I fixed it by adding lemon in addition to the lime they provided me with. The price on the menu is per individual roll which is different and I think (keyword: Think) it's a bit pricy but I just needed something fresh and satisfying to get me through my back to back gigs. The staff on the phone was great as well as with pickup. It was everything I expected and efficient I got in paid and got out. It's a cute little place, but not super rememberable. However my assumption on the price was proven false... The spring rolls are HUGE! They are double the size of a normal spring roll! Ok $10 for 3 small burrito size spring rolls suddenly isn't bad at all. They were fresh tasty hit the spot BUT the dipping sauce was a hard pass... it tasted like mold was present, Benefit of the doubt is that sometimes ginger can make a mold flavor with certain ingredients or a bad piece of ginger got snuck it. Note: I have a hyper sensitive sense of taste where back when I used to drink I actually tasted a mix of the exact bottling yeasts that a micro brewer used on their beer yes they were shocked but it was a confirmation for me. I love the variety of broth options and add-ons. The first time i went, I kept it simple with a shrimp pho, which just comes with green onion and I added Jalapeño. I come here all the time, they have the best pho! Extremely affordable. They recently installed a self order machine so you no longer have to talk tit he host, I really don't like that. I love the interaction and the machine just takes time away from me. Imagine a very long line and people are just scrolling through. Surprisingly, the kimchi fried rice was the highlight of my meal - flavorful and easily the best thing i ordered, which felt odd considering their specialty is pho. Unfortunately, the spring rolls were the weakest item. Maybe it's because i prefer a more traditional spring roll but they were bland and all i could taste was the sauce that i dipped it in. The pho was decent but nothing standout, which was a little disappointing for a spot that specializes in pho. The texture of the chicken in the chicken pho was very dry and seemed to be previously frozen. Overall, it was an okay spot with some potential, but i expected more from the pho. It pains me to say this but this was an odd pho experience. -I wasn't told about higher prices("service fee") for using a credit card until after I inquired why the prices on the receipt didn't match the menu prices -Water is self-serve and you have to ask for ice -You barely get any vegetables for your phở and have to ask for more. -The phở gà (chicken phở) was decent but could use some work on the soup flavor and adding different pieces of chicken meat. This was a very different kind of restaurant than what I'm used to, as most of these problems don't happen at an authentic vietnamese phở restaurant. With the utmost respect, I'd recommend the owners to have a visit at a vietnamese phở restaurant to understand what I mean. read more
