Their chocolate chip walnut & rocky road cookies are to DIE FOR, especially when warmed up!! I'd recommend their muffins as well if you want to switch things up. My wife came with me this time, and I wanted her to try the Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. I asked them to heat up both of our cookies, which is a must for the best experience. The staff member actually said she was about to offer, but I beat her to it! They might not always offer, especially when busy, but it really makes a difference. I also recommend bringing a bottle of milk, as the cookies are very sweet, and a cold glass of milk is perfect. I've had the Chocolate Walnut Cookie twice now, and while it's good, it's not my favorite. I think the Oatmeal Raisin is better. My wife agreed, she liked the Oatmeal Raisin the best. Decided to finally try this spot - as I drove by finally one day. I ordered online and found parking and went inside to pick it up. It was a bit crowded. I went to the corner where the pick ups were. The outdoor setup is a plus--plenty of chairs to sit, decompress, and people-watch for a bit instead of awkwardly hovering on the sidewalk. Also appreciated: they hand out napkins and utensils without you needing to ask, which you absolutely need with cookies like these. Where it falls short is consistency on warming. If you ask for it heated, expect a bit of a wait--and even then it can come out uneven, warm on the outside but still cold in the middle. I've been a fan of levain since I first tried it in NYC in 2012 but I fear it has really fallen off since expanding to LA. I ordered the new carrot cake cookie, lemon cookie, coconut caramel cookie and double chocolate. The carrot cake cookie and coconut caramel cookie were more scones than cookies - they were so dry and crumbly. The lemon cookie was slightly more moist but tasted like bland dough. The double chocolate wasn't as bad but not great. Levain cookies should be crunchy on the outside but gooey on the inside. After a couple of bad experiences in LA, I'll probably save my levain visits for when I'm in NYC. read more

Dare I saw that I liked the dark chocolate peanut butter cookie from here better than Crumble cookies?! The price point was nearly identical, and while this cookie was a bit smaller ... the PB was something else. As you can see in the pic, despite the cookie being baked to the perf level of gooey, the PB inside was so fresh. I'm guessing they inject each cookie by hand after it comes out of the oven or something?! Idk how else the PB could maintain that texture as if it was just spooned directly out of the jar. However, my absolute favorites have been their seasonal, limited edition flavors like the dark chocolate peppermint (winter only!) and the white chocolate macadamia. Cookies will set you back around $5.75 - $6. Larchmont is a pretty happening place, so I tend not to even try to do parking there. The woman at the counter was friendly and the storefront was bright, cheerful and festive for the holidays. However, the Two Chip Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Peppermint cookies my girlfriend and I tried were rock hard and dry (despite being taken from the rack behind the counter. At $5-6 a pop, I was disappointed, especially after my NYC experience. It's a shame as my previous experience was so exceptional years ago. Paderia Bakehouse off Wilshire in Santa Monica offers exceptional, small batch warm delicious cookies at the same price. So excited to have a Levain Bakery local (about 1 hour drive away buy so worth it!). I have been to the IG in NYC many years ago. This is there 30th anniversary! I recommend if you're eating them the next day or so to heat them up for 10 seconds in the microwave. the store also has cards that tell you best heating practices. parking is tricky here, there are metered spots I think?
