Don't be intimidated by the long lines. It goes by fast. My favorite is their chocolate chip cookies. I first had the original location in New York and was so excited to hear one was opening in Venice. It's still delicious but maybe not as great as I remember. So excited this bakery landed in Los Angeles! I came on a weekend morning and there was virtually minimal wait. I got two of their famous cookies, which were so dense, but divinely decadent. I also tried the chocolate brioche which was super rich as well. They do well other pastry items that I will have to try in the future! Having visited multiple locations in NYC I was excited to try the newest addition in Venice-- it definitely lives up to the hype! The line wasn't terribly long around early evening on a weekday and it moved pretty fast. The space is on the smaller side so it can get quite crowded, but there is some seating available indoors as well. The staff is super friendly and they will warm up your cookies upon request! I highly recommend the classic chocolate chip walnut and the oatmeal raisin, both are decadent and flavorful and just the perfect level of chewiness. read more

I'm glad they opened a location on this side of town! The cookies are fresh and like boulders- in a good way... I definitely eat it over the course of two days (it's almost $6 each now). My only complaint is that they weren't served hot... I'm not sure if they stopped doing that but in Larchmont and NY, I got mine piping hot. read more

Levain was so delicious! My girlfriend and i went yesterday and ordered the chocolate chip walnut, rocky road and a scoop of ube ice cream for national ice cream day. With our purchase of ice cream, we got a free Levain hat! The chocolate chip walnut cookie was my favorite. It was so gooey, warm and had the perfect amount of chocolate. One of the best gluten free cookies I've ever had. Called ahead to inquire about the gluten free cookie. Was told there were only a few left so they put two aside for me. I was excited to try this bakery after seeing it all over TikTok, and when I found out they opened a location in LA, I headed to the Venice Beach spot. The staff had great customer service and were super friendly. I ordered two chocolate chip cookies and an iced vanilla latte. Levain Bakery on Venice and Abbot Kinney has quickly become my go-to spot for bread and cookies. Everything I've tried has been excellent. Bread prices are extremely reasonable for the quality, making it an easy recommendation. Cookies seem a little pricey but they are on the bigger side. read more

I never had the chance to try Levains in NYC, so I was very glad to hear they had a location here! I got the Caramel Coconut Chip and they gave me one fresh out of the oven. Although I love peanut butter, their Dark Chocolate PB was not good. I love how the outside is crisp while maintaining a soft, buttery interior. The cookies are definitely worth it!! I'm thankful i don't live closer to Levain in venice. Parking can be a bit tricky as it's on the end of Abbott Kinney. Their dark chocolate with peanut butter and chocolate chip with walnuts is my fav, their coffee is actually amazing and reasonably priced ($3-$6) and there's a little spot in the shop to sit and eat and people watch if you can't wait till you get home to spoil your dinner. At the Venice location, they seemed really raw in the center and just didn't hit the same. They didn't seem a fresh as I remember either. Service was ok. I went here last night and this was the best bakery I have ever tried. I got a black and white cookie, chocolate chip walnut cookie, and an iced latte. By far the best cookies I have had in LA. The iced latte was really good, because I love my bitter coffees and it did not disappoint. The iced latte was just right. I love the design of the cafe, inside and outside with the blue benches. The service was great and the people working were very nice as well. You can also see them making cookies through a window which is really cool. I told my parents and friends about Levain as well. Will def be coming back to this bakery. 10/10 read more

They keep cranking so many cookies to a point that it's just sitting there. It gets dry and it's not even warm. I would definitely avoid until they solve this issue. If I am going to pay $5 for a cookie, it better be fresh. If you have gone to any of the NY locations, you would know the difference. read more

We ordered the coconut chocolate chip for take out. I might be missing something here, and I feel bad to leave a 3 start review but if you like true cookies, sweet, gooey or sweet and crispy on the outside, this is not your place. I come from New Orleans, we love our deserts, this cookie tasted like a baked muffin with hardly any sweetness or moisture. It was more like a small muffin "disguised" as a cookie. I took a bite and couldn't even try another bite. It was that disappointing. There is a parking in the back but it is a one way street and it's coined or pay by phone app. The Fall Spiced Chocolate Chunk (pictured) and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip were both good. Unfortunately m, the cookies were not warmed and unsure if they would have warmed if asked as the woman at the counter didn't seem to want to ask if we wanted to eat there or take them. Once home a good pop in the microwave for 15 seconds and the cookies were warmed and delicious with a glass of milk. The inside bakery is very homely feel with the smell of baked goods. read more

Don't do it!! Had a bit of their cinnamon raisin roll and their walnut roll. Very overrated, after a few minutes into my coffee it began to harden. Sugar isn't a flavor, both were drenched with sugar as to create the illusion of flavor. I'm not sure, not sure they even knew. The raisin roll was popping with raisin, I did like that about the roll. The cinnamon roll, couldn't get much out of it. Again, lacking the promised flavors folks have been boasting about. Save yourself the time and money, just for the record, I am not not returning at all, nor will I consume another one of their products.
