$30 cut ($25 cut + $5 tip).... Expensive for the 10 minute haircut from a guy named urban chino. Cut was average comparable to a Supercuts haircut. My thoughts... Barber (his nickname urban chino): doesn't clean his tools in between clients, big ego, was babysitting his kid and cutting my hair. Nothing wrong with babysitting and working (life happens) just super odd and prefer going somewhere else where the barber is focused on cutting my hair vs. taking care of their kid and my haircut. Wait for Antjuan, the man can cut! I've been growing my beard for a few years now and have always trimmed it myself. 2 months ago I decided to start looking for a barber to shape it for me now that it's fuller. Over the last 2 months I've tried 2 shops, 2 different barbers over 3 visits. One of them did a fairly decent skin shave the other did a fairly decent job shaping it. After 5 months of getting my hair cut - mid skin fade with a comb over, I've received tons of compliments from complete strangers and referred at least 5 people to come to this shop. Went in the other day for a fade. I actually like the setup inside. My haircut was good enough but not great. My barber spent 15min tops on me. I couldn't help but feel ripped off. The barber charged for a beard trim but never touched my beard. Asked him to take some off the top didn't do that either. I waited a full hour on a Sunday after calling and being told they weren't taking appointments, and walk ins only. Fair enough. I walked in. However, after waiting an hour in a chair and not being greeted, or even generally recognized, they proceeded to give service to a guy who had walked in after me, just because they appeared to be buddies. THEN they did it AGAIN, to some other dude who walked in after me, as though I didn't even exist. I was willing to let the first one slide, but TWICE? Worst service I have ever had at a barber shop. I will not mention the barbers name I dealt with because I am not here to get someone fired. I am here to alert others of what to expect. First, I made an appointment the day before and specified I had somewhere to be an hour and 15 minutes after the appointment. The barber asked me to let him know if I was going to cancel. The appointment was made for 10am. I texted my barber at 940 letting him know that I was on my way in case he got there before me. No one showed up to open the barber shop until 1010am. Santana has been my barber for the last year and every time he cuts my hair I get a lot of compliments. I get a skin fade with a low faux hawk and he is one of the only barbers that has been able to get the fade and line up right, and even get the faux hawk on point with a little texturizing. Great barbers, good prices and convenient location. I have been going here for 6 years now and spent about a year after moving to San Diego trying to find the best barber for me. I went to nearly every barber shop in San Diego, but I would always end up coming back to this one. For the past 5 years while going here I got my haircut by Romeo but since Romeo moved Justin has been cutting my hair and also does a great job. I think any one of the barbers in the shop are talented as I have watched them all give consistently good haircuts over the past 6 years or so. Terrific barbershop with a bunch of great cutters. My barber is Johnny and he's the best barber I have ever had. These guys do every kind of cut from the crazy Mohawk to the much more average joe cut I prefer. The guys are always friendly and bring a level of creativity and attention to detail that's hard to find nowadays. The cut they deliver is so much better than the large chain cutters...even the ones that are attempting to be as cool as these guys. Their price point is great too. After having a bad haircut in Lemon Grove I decided to try somewhere new and walked in on my way out of work just to do something different. I was seated by Romeo in minutes and he listened to the problems I had with my last cut, and did me up exactly as I would of wanted. He was efficient, and a rad dude to BS with while I was in the chair, which I think is a key part of the experience as well. Been coming here 2 years now. My usual guy wasn't there. I asked for a narrow mohawk with a skin fade (same thing I always get). It looked awful the first two tries and after the third I gave up. Tried calling later to see if my usual guy will be in tomorrow but now they won't answer the phone. Also...why did he charge me $30 before tip when it's always been $25? This haircut is horrible and embarrassing. The fade looks like he did it with children's safety scissors. I'd go back and give my business to a different barber but they won't answer. I'll change my rating if it gets fixed but I'm not hopeful so far. read more

Let's start of by saying the shop is clean and has a good vibe walking in. Now to my hair cut I checked out their yelp reviews. They have good reviews and saw the cut I was looking for so figured I'll give them a try. The cut I wanted was a taper priced at $25 which is cool but if I'm spending that much I expect to receive the cut I asked for. The end results look like an all even cut with the right side hairline pushed back on the side. The cut is cool but could have done it at home and saved the money. You judge for yourself. The price for an all even cut is $20 so feel like I was over charged. Since I also work for tips I still tipped, spending $28 for the cut I didn't wont. Now while sitting there I noticed some others getting nice fades done so maybe I got the wrong barber. I want be back but ask if you go there. who cut the person's hair of the photo you like if your using Yelp. Another star is listed after watching my hair grow back in. REVIEW#1 This place gives good haircuts...but you kinda have to deal w/ pre-madanna barbers who believe they are better than the customers. I have waited outside more than twice to get a haircut because the guy opening will be late to open the store by at least 30 minutes on a Saturday/Sunday and I have been in there before when they were eating infront of me and I had to interupt and ask which one of the 3-4 would like to give me a haircut?...This was after I was asked if I needed a haircut when I came through the door and then waited 10-15 minutes before I asked/bothered them?? In this period of time, nobody approached me or even said hello. Nobody asked how they can help me or give any sort of attention (attention was 100% on the TV). ALL of the barbers were walking right past me giving everybody who walks by and sitting down "dap" (I think you need to be friends w/ them to get any service) and then chatting w/ them, mean while people sat in the barber seats waiting...I was sitting in there like a fool waiting...I finally got up when I noticed 2 of the barbers where done w/ there last haircut and proceeded to go sit in front of the TV and watch B.E.T.?...(no business sense what-so-ever) and I asked whats up w/ a haircut..he looked around in astonishment like they dont give haircuts or that he actually has to work...he said nope, I have an appointment at 6:00 (it was 5:00 at the time) and so does everybody else except for one guy (who didnt want to cut hair either). This has happened many, many times to me...so the sign that reads walk-ins welcome is B.S.
