I ordered dinner from Level via GrubHub a few weeks ago (which I'll never do again) and I really liked it. Since I'll never use GrubHub again, I decided to visit Level in person. I'm glad I did! It's an attractive space. The Malaysia Salmon with a cilantro/Thai chili sauce was awesome. The edamame appetizer was perfect and happy hour is until 7:30! I asked our server, Michelle, for lava cake to go for a friend I was about to see who'd just had a birthday. To my surprise (and my friend's), she'd written "Happy Birthday" on the to-go container and added a candle! It's the little things. I'll be back. read more

Best sushi joint in Richmond for both presentation and taste. I have literally had nothing but delicious meals on every single visit - and I've been 6-7 times. I recommend the lettuce wraps, any of the hibachi meals, the rainbow roll, Chesapeake roll, heck even just a plain old avocado roll. The fish dishes are great and cooked perfectly. Also, if you have someone who doesn't like a lot of spice, the Seafood Bowl is awesome - really basic, but executed well and very flavorful. They have pretty good happy hour specials too from 4-7 everyday. And the bar changes color when you touch it. Ample parking on the street as well as in a lot next to the restaurant. read more

Amazing food! The sushi was so fresh, I didn't even want to dip it in any sauce b/c the taste of the fish was so outstanding. The dough on the pan fried dumplings was melt-in-your-mouth tender - not rubbery like some dumplings. We sat at the light up bar (which is fun) and the bar tender was extremely attentive and so friendly. My one piece of feedback would be for them to seat large parties somewhere other than the middle of the restaurant. They seem to have an area in the back, and upstairs, which would have been less disruptive to the rest of the restaurant. Overall, Level Restaurant & Bar exceeded my expectations. They've only been around for a year, and I really hope the keep up the excellent quality and service. Will definitely go back. read more

We go to Level a lot. Food is delicious and service is very nice. The cocktails are interesting and enjoyable. We try something different every time. They have the best tuna tataki in town. Seafood basket has great textures. Only downside is that the lightning is very harsh. read more

In The past I was a Great Fan of Level, my last few visits have seriously changed my opinion.... although the quality of food is consistent, the quality of service has gone to the point of JUST PLAIN SUCKS... to many times, one person, is the Bartender/Dinning Room server, Bus Person etc. My last visit, my date joined me at a table, after ordering her drink, 15 minutes went by and I had to leave the table to remind "The Staff".... people at tables were looking around rolling their eyes looking for help. Utterly confused by this place, but in a city of terrible Asian cuisine, it's best to not question and instead just support a restaurant churning out decent fusion food. The location is...less than desirable, situated next to the 7-11 on Broad. The whole space is a trip, decked out in glowing this and laser that. But order a decent, local beer and a few dishes, and you'll see that this place stands out above the crowd. The sushi is fresh, the noodles maintain a proper texture and aren't greasy and the seafood is cooked perfectly. Worst service ever. Went to get a takeout order, got it 1 hour after the order was placed. There were 3 people to my left that ordered the same time I did. They had their meal, ate, chatted, paid and left 15 minutes before my order arrived. When I asked the bartender I got "It is a busy night". 15 minutes before I get my order, the bartender gives me the bill and says it will be right up. Never again. read more

Came here after having my brother find a "good sushi" spot but when we got there we weren't very impressed. We got the calamari with yum yum sauce which was average, the sauce is good but the calamari seemed more fried batter then actual calamari so i couldn't really taste the calamari. Our second appertizer was chefs choice 5 piece sushis and that was disappointing, I thought we would be getting specials begin chef choice. My brother ordered a few different types of sushi rolls and went to the same side on ordering things he already knows he would life but some of the avocado was bruised on the california roll and they kept the tails on the shrimp in others that made it difficult to eat. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken which was terrible- chicken was diced up tiny tiny and there was barely sauce but a lot of vegetables which I don't mind, secondly on that the nuts seemed stale and were hard to chew. I wouldn't go back for the food but maybe the drinks as it seems there are better reviews for the bar. read more

Looking for a centrally located venue with Hibachi and Asian inspired cuisine I found Level. Read the reviews, did a drive by and reluctantly made reservations for my husband's 35th birthday dinner party. I made the reservations with Kevin. The day before I went by met with Kevin and picked out our party space which was located in the upstairs loft area. The service was OUTSTANDING and the food was WONDERFUL. We tried a variety of entrees and no one was disappointed. The drinks were terrific and I especially loved the plum wine. The wait staff was attentive and very polite. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun atmposhere with great food and drinks. Thanks Level for such a great dining experience. We just had dinner at Level last night and it definitely exceeded our expectations... we ordered the hot and sour soup, it was really tasty with more spice than your usual hot and sour soup...We also had three vegetarian rolls, the sweet potato was really good, and we had fried rice with tofu... their fried rice is a little different in a great way, it has pineapple and raisins, which turned out to be delicious!! Visited Level around 10 pm on a Friday night. It was walking proximity from our prior stop, so parking was not an issue, but as a destination location, I could see it having some difficulty. The decor of the bar is modern and trendy. I'm not sure who the owner is trying to cater to in that regard as most people in the fan would probably shy away from something like that. The bathroom was nice, but you have to practically walk through the band to get to it. The light up bar is worth going to see if nothing else, it's certainly a niche they have. We ordered a few drinks, mostly beers, so it is hard to judge them on the quality of their specialty drinks. Beers were cold and clean tasting, so no issues there. The bartenders working were both very friendly, especially the female bartender. Water is served with a lime or cucumber, which is a nice touch. We ordered the godzilla roll. It was good, but nothing to write home about. We will probably give the food another try at some point, but not sure the bar offered anything above and beyond its competition. read more

I came here on Friday evening with a friend at around 6. I am a server and a bartender so I know that that is a busy time for restaurants! There was plenty of space at the bar, and our bartender was very welcoming and sweet. We ordered a few drinks then shortly ordered sushi. I ordered the Falling in Love roll, with no avocado as I'm super allergic. It took almost an hour for our sushi to arrive, and our poor bartender was working like a dog because they only had him bartending, and only one waitress for the main dining area. My sushi arrived with avocado. I mentioned this to our bartender and he immediately grabbed it and rushed it back to the kitchen. I assumed it would take another hour to remake the roll but it came right back out, this time with no avocado! Yay! But I remember thinking this roll looks exactly like the last one! And not in a consistent way, I mean that they basically took it back to the chef, he poked out the avocado, and put cream cheese in instead. I chalked it up to me being paranoid, and I was starving so I ate, paid, and left. About 20 minutes later I'm on the side of the road puking my guts up, because the chef had done exactly what I was worried he'd done, which of course still left a little avocado in the roll, meaning I got sick. bartender was the only bright spot of the whole experience. read more
