First time at their relocated location. To dine in now you are served by a server. Burgers were good, not great and a little undercooked. Be forewarned, this dining room area is LOUD!! No sound buffers with a tin ceiling and it becomes a cafeteria type setting. They now use tablets in the dining room which includes the person standing there waiting while you add in tip and sign. I hate that hovering feeling. Also, the suggested tip on our bill was different than what appeared on the screen (tablet was higher!!). Be careful!! The suggested tip for 20% on the bill was $4.29 but on the screen showed $4.64. If I had chosen the 20% tip on the screen I would have definitely over tipped! I don't want to sound cheap but $4 is more than enough to bring out 2 burgers and a small fry in paper containers. Lexie's stole my heart the first couple times I went but after this visit, I wouldn't be rushing back to be honest. read more

Easily the best burger for miles. Enjoyed the special: topped w/mushrooms, bacon, blu cheese, fried pickles & pickle aioli. Super yum! But the handmade onion rings lacked salt. Likewise a salted caramel milkshake lacked any hint of it...although delicious on its own. The burger is the star here, as it should be. (Teeny tiny super thin cocktail beverage napkins are your only help in attempting to clean up from all the burger deliciousness streaming onto your fingers here. Hopefully these are temporary.) The food here is really delicious, fresh, and fast! The service is also really friendly. The only problems are that their menu is very small (but you can "make your own" burger) and they have almost no seating. They do have an outside patio which is nice, but can get quite cold and buggy. They do have veggie burgers for vegetarians! They have delicious shakes as well, but they are quite small. read more

Lexie's Test Kitchen in Exeter, a branch of the original in Portsmouth. First, they have some work to do at this location. I have eaten at the Portsmouth location many times and have always been pleased. Things got off to a rocky start when I was told by my server that I could not order my burger mid-rare because the burgers cook too quickly and could not be cooked mid anything. Okay, that's a completely ridiculously thing to claim. I ordered my burger rare. It arrived well-done with no sign of pink anywhere. They are cooking their burgers on a flat top. There's no reason why they can't cook a mid-rare or rare burger. Second, the server was aloof with no personality where the servers at the Portsmouth location are all engaging and friendly. I'll return to the Exeter location for another visit. We'll see if I can get a burger properly cooked to order. read more

I've waited to write an update since they moved to their new location to give them a chance to settle in, and because I hated it the first time I visited the new location. I had to allow for the fact that maybe I was just in a bad mood that day, which I wasn't, but it was too soon to jump to review-writing. We've now been to the new location several times, and it's not what it used to be at all. The fried pickles are thinner now. The lovable "Surf Hippie" vibe is gone, the woodsy organic feeling is gone, and what's left is a noisy, industrial, cold venue with okay burgers and good service. It's just a burger joint now, without the heart. The Boylan cane sugar bottled sodas are gone, replaced with bottles of Coca-Cola. The water cooler with the lemons that used to sit on the counter has been replaced by a metal water dispenser on the floor, the kind you will find in a doctor's office, car dealership, or at work in a cubicle farm. The flies were pervasive and horrible! The "Peace, Love, Burgers" slogan seems to have been replaced by "flipping beef." Maybe they should try "Sell Out." It's so noisy now, even when it's not crowded. You can hear everything that people speaking in very low voices are saying to each other on the other side of the room. Lexie's used the excuse of "gaining more room" when they made the move to the new location, but there really aren't that many more tables than there used to be, and it's just not warm and welcoming as it used to be, either. So sad that an old favorite has fallen by the wayside. read more

We love stopping at Lexie's after a trip to the sea coast. Black truffle fries are the best, although any of the hand cut fries are simple potato perfection. The Urban Cowboy is our go to burger. Decent little burger stop in a nice location. They have beef, bean and chicken to choose from for the patties. The burger patties themself are nothing special. What gets put on the burger is what gives it all the wonderful different flavors. If you get fries, make sure it's a topped/seasoned one. Otherwise they can be a bit bland. Some of the milkshakes are pretty good, and they usually have a flavor of the day. After you have finished your meal the waitress brings your check as well as mini cookies (1 per person in your party) I definitely like their new location as opposed to their previous one. I have been here a few times with a friend and my son. Once you have been there more than once you kind of k ow what you want. read more

Came here on Tuesday night. Although the food was good, the service was absolutely horrible!! I could tell that the waitress was busy, but she was extremely rude to my family and I. It took an extremely long time for her to come and just get our drink orders, I ordered a simple half and half iced tea. After the food and fries had come, I asked my waitress if I could have my drink because it still had not arrived. She rolled her eyes at us and said "uh yeah, it's coming," about 10 minutes later she came back to the table EMPTY HANDED and said "so what did you order again for your drink?" I told her and without saying anything she walked away. took her 15 minutes just to come back with the drink. she did not check in on our table once. this is not the first time I have had this type of service here, I will not be coming back. it is ridiculous. read more

I just ate here for the first time and I was super impressed!! I had the build your own burger with American cheese, lettuce, avocado and herbed aioli. Let me tell you, that aioli was delicious! I absolutely love their buns and fries too. I got the strawberry lemonade. Yum! We sat outside which was great too. Got to watch the Amtrak roll in. Lexie's has a great atmosphere. I'm only giving 4 stars because the only thing I've ever had here are the fish tacos and truffle fries -- both of which are 5-star material! My family says the burgers are great but I can't vouch for this personally. :-) The problem with Lexie's is that it's too small during the off-season. And that it's FREEZING! Seriously, we ordered take-out (because finding a table is impossible) and stood underneath the minisplit heater because it was THAT cold. Everyone eating there had their coats on! read more

Great burgers and a great environment. My hubby and I both got Burgers and Fries, and an order of onion rings. As usual the burgers were delicious served hot and fresh. My hubby got a strawberry shake, it was so creamy and thick and delicious. This is just like the other Lexie's restaurants but with more on the menu. We just love the burgers.
