Had the privilege to dine in tonight. Simply put: one of the finest meals I have had the fortune of enjoying. Shared two dishes. The braised beef short ribs over risotto: best I have had, period! Had dinner here for date night and will be back for sure!! We had Zachary as our waiter and he was AMAZING. I haven't had such great service like that in a long time. He was very friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. I had two cucumber tinis which were very good. We ordered the pork dumpling appetizer and had the filet mignon wrap and penne pasta. My husband and I moved to the area a little under a year ago and are regulars here simply because of how good the food and service is. We've had just about every option on the menu and every single thing tastes fantastic. It's a bit on the pricier side but well worth it. This is a great place in Mount Kisco right by Dunkin Donuts and Mrs. Greens to celebrate special occasions or just grab a nice (but slightly pricey!) meal. I've celebrated both my own and my brother's graduation and my brother's bar mitzvah at Lexington Square. The staff here is accommodating of big parties on special occasions (we were even able to rent the entire restaurant out on one occasion!) They also make beautiful and delicious cakes, so ask about custom cake options if you do decide to host a party here. The ambiance is slightly dressier - I would opt for a collared shirt for men and a dress or a nice skirt for women. The food lives up to the dressy atmosphere -- things are a bit pricier, with items like penne with lobster and filet mignon appearing on the menu. However, everything is delicious and worth the price every once in a while. I don't recommend making this your weekly dinner spot, but come here for a date night or a special celebration and you'll be happy you splurged. Discovered this place during a road trip through the area based on reviews on Google. Good thing I looked there instead of what's posted on Yelp. Google reviews are accurate! Beautiful space! You know menu is tempting when you can't decide what to get. We appreciate their table placements due to social distancing during COVID-19. Bar area is big enough to social distance. Drinks menu also is extensive. We were there for lunch. The blackened fish tacos are big and delicious. Nice large chunks of solid fish that fill the taco too. Swordfish sandwich was just as satisfying. It was placed on ciabatta bread that was soft and thin enough to give way with each bite into the sandwich. And of course the fries were perfect. About size like Wendy's but crispier and long! Happy with the service, in fact it was better than most when compared to similar restaurants also operating during these Covid times. This is one of those consistently excellent places to eat - service is always terrific, friendly and alert. The food is first rate and fresh - I recommend the lobster salad, the fish tacos or filet minion, and a friend says the short ribs are quite good. In this age of the pandemic, which is still lingering, it's one of those places where you can also feel comfortable dining, with tables spread out appropriately - and if it's warm enough they have an outdoor area which is quite comfortable and tucked away from the road. I just had to takes pictures of them! While perusing through the menu, I had my heart set on the lobster avocado salad. But once the waitress read out the daily specials, I was torn! They had BBQ duck quesadilla with roasted peppers and onions, figs and brie as one of their specials. Oh it sounded good... and it was!! All the flavors blended beautifully. What a disappointment!! Will never return!!! This was one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I was surprised when we arrived and the place was empty...six o'clock..only one other table was occupied. Once we had dinner, I knew why. Dinner was terrible!!! It's no surprise when you find an upscale restaurant seemingly in the middle of nowhere, that it's going to be THE place to be. And unfortunately, this usually means they don't have to excel in terms of the food, because they're going to pack the house with locals regardless. Such is the case of the Lexington Square Cafe. Change the sign outside to "Houlihan's" and you might not know the difference, at least in terms of the food. The ambiance however, is very nice. It's actually a beautiful, welcoming interior, if a little crowded. Enjoy the dimly-lit long bar and sip an overpriced cocktail while you wait to be sat late for the reservation you made for earlier. But who really cares? Especially when the bartender brings out a plate of free appetizers and tells you they are a new "test item" -- fried chicken wings stuffed with garlic mashed potatoes. (Right? This makes no sense.) These greasy little wingdings were tasty, but odd. They were, literally, chicken wings with mashed potatoes somehow balled up inside them. But hey, they were free. (Which is about what I would pay for them.) We finally sat for dinner and were greeted with a menu that was clearly suffering from multiple personality disorder. It's never a good sign when a restaurant like this sells SO MANY different types of food -- from pizzas, to sandwiches, to grilled fish and steaks, to Asian, Cajun, Mexican entrees. Restaurants with endless food options remind me of mediocre places like the Cheesecake Factory -- a jack of all trades, but a master of none. In the end we shared some lobster dumplings (meh) and Asian lettuce wraps that P.F. Chang himself would have laughed at. I tried a skirt steak chimichurri, which again was on par with a steak you might get at Chili's. And whatever else everyone at the able ordered was completely forgettable. So not worth the money. All of this could have been forgiven for a fun night out catching up with friends we hadn't seen for a long time. But then we get the bill. And on the bill were two Grey Goose martinis that we didn't order. We kindly asked our waiter to take them off, and a few minutes later, the manager came over and started interrogating us as if we were lying about not having ordered the drinks. This is the kind of thing that infuriates me. We held our ground without losing our cool, and she eventually relented and took them off the bill. But this is not how you run a business. I should give you the dreaded one star, but hopefully this was just a one-off in terms of service. The good news is I won't be up in Mount Kisco for a long, long time. But if I were the owners, I'd heed these reviews, get a new chef, and put together a more simple menu that you can actually execute. The place has promise, but unfortunately, the reality does not live up to it. read more

I went there last week for a business lunch, and was extremely happy with my meal and the entire experience. I had been there before and always enjoyed it, but was a bit nervous because of all of the recent negative reviews. My associate got the chopped salad, which was the perfect lunch portion and very good. I got the tuna tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. Our server, Christian, made sure everything was perfect for us. We ordered a dessert sampler, which wasn't supposed to include the one dessert I really wanted. So what did he do? My family & I recently went to Lexington Square for a celebration dinner. I had been there before and always thought it was descent but hadn't been in over two years. Our whole family was very disappointed with the meal - from start to finish. The mussels appetizer was so-so, the salmon & shrimp in the salad entrees were VERY overcooked (almost inedible), the filet mignon was tough and definitely not a good cut, the pad thai had an overpowering orange flavor to it, desserts were not great - overall I would have never recommended it but I wouldn't have necessarily written a poor review either (I rarely write Yelp reviews). At 6:30 the next morning my husband woke up violently ill with food poisoning (the only other thing he ate the day before was a granola bar - so clearly he was sick from something at dinner). Later that day I called Lexington Square to tell them that my husband was sick and I just wanted to let them know in case they wanted to pull whatever he ate so that someone else didn't get sick (I was VERY nice on the phone despite the bad meal and how sick my husband was). The man that answered sounded annoyed and asked me what he ate then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't have gotten sick from anything he ate there. I worked in a restaurant for years and know that #1, you can get sick from ONE mussel and #2, even if some foods don't typically give you food poisoning, with cross contamination you can literally get sick from anything. I cannot believe how rude they were on the phone which is the main reason for my review. Since then, I've had a number of people tell me what horrible meals they had there. I would NEVER go back for terrible, expensive food and rude management. Now after reading all of the other Yelp reviews, I'm not surprised it was almost empty on a Saturday night. Mt. And after all these years, they are still putting good meals together in nice setting. Is it a little expensive? Sure. Is it the best place to go with a large group in Mt. Kisco? Definitely. My girlfriend and I had lunch at the Lexington Square Cafe. We found the atmosphere to be pleasant. The interior decor is modern with a slight Colonial feel. Just inside the main entryway, the restaurants desert chefs decorate cakes with whimsical frosting designs. One cake featured a Barbie Doll atop wrapped in yellow frosting, which draped completely around it to the base. We were greeted by the assistant manager who sat us in a white tableclothed dining area with very high ceilings, which gave it and airy, open feel. On the back wall, a massive painting of a town square, circa the turn of the century, gave off a quaint feel and tied itself with the dark brown wood decor and light wall coloring. I'd never been to the Lexington Square Cafe before, but my girlfriend had. I wasn't sure what type of service to expect, but was pleasntly surprised by our casual, but professional waiter. A variety of lunch specials where off-menu, which he recited verbatim, just barely glancing at his notes at the end of his speech to check to make sure he had one item correct. My girlfriend ordered a lobster and avocado wrap with a light mayo. She said it was a toss up between that and crab cake, but she felt she made the right choice. She thought the lobster was good, not amazing, but it made for quite a tasty lunch. I started with the lobster bisque, which was a little heavier than normal. It came out at the perfect temperature, with just the right amount of lobster meat. It was very flavorful, the base was spot on, but it didn't have that deep lobster flavor, which I prefer. It leaned more towards the spices in terms of overall flavor. I would give it a 7 on a scale of 1-10. For my main course, I ordered the Black Angus open face steak sandwich. It was cooked perfectly medium. There was little fat and it had just the right amount of toughness. Wasn't too chewy, and it wasn't overdone. I really enjoyed the steak. The meal came with frites, which were a little overcooked, but not so much that it was a turn off. They were small, light and very crispy. It also came with a small side ceaser, which wasn't overwhelming. Overally, this is a great restaurant, which has a wonderful wine selection (we didn't have any, but they had many bottles over the bar and in a wine refrigerators at the ends of the bar). The service is good, people friendly, food just right for a good price. The pricing is a bit higher than your general chain restaurant, with sandwiches ranging in the $13 to $19 range, and entres in the $19 to $35 range. I highly recommend it if you're in Mt. Kisco. I have been going to the Lex for a few years now, and have to say it still stands as one of my favorite places to eat. We've been here on a few different occassions, and the experience is always pleasant. Favorites: The Grilled Lobster Tail Mojito with Avocado Salsa and Plantain chips. It is so delicious and so refreshing. I love the Old Bay Crusted King Salmon with spaghetti squash, long beans and carrots. It had a spicy creole mustard sauce. The dish is phenomenal. Lots of flavor. The wine list is also very impressive. The restaurant decor is casual but with a trendy flair. There are really high ceilings and a bit of grandure to it. After many years we revisited the Lexington Cafe ( Sunday Brunch time). I used to bring the family ( 3 children and a few adults) as it used to be family friendly. Today, the front of house host/maitre d' was unfriendly and a bit rude the moment we walked in. After sitting 15 mins at our table, I asked the maitre d' if we could order, and he dimissed us. We all considered turning around and leaving. It was that uncomfortable. (We were the only people of color.) However Nicole, (server) noticed us and came over. She was super friendly and very attentive. She made our visit worth the visit to Lexington Cafe. The chef (without anyone asking) sent an extra order of eggs as our eggs may have been overdone. They were actually good either way. A very keen chef indeed. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The prices seemed reasonable given we are still feeling the effects of the pandemic as wages, and produce are all higherin cost. If you visit and Nicole serves your table, you will be in good hands. The indoor rooms can get loud. They pipe in music so conversations attempt to overide the music. Outside there are heaters available for outdoor dinning and while we were there, easy to have great conversation while enjoying the food. Brunch can be busy time to get a table. read more

RUDE and unreliable!!! If you are planning an event DO NOT rely on Lexington Square Cafe. I reserved and scheduled the upstairs private room for a rehearsal dinner several months in advance of the April date. I also spoke with event staff several times to confirm and ask questions. The manager called me this morning (8 weeks before our event) to "let me know that we will have to find another venue". They booked an event in the downstairs dining room and decided that they could not "service" our event on the same night. The manager was very quick to dismiss me and get me off of the phone. The only explanation he gave was that the group downstairs was for 120 people and my event was smaller - only 50 guests. SO . . I guess that meant that he could afford to disappoint us because the other group was more profitable???? Outrageous!!! I will now have to quickly find another spot and start over with the arrangements. Very disappointing!!! read more

Had reservations for Easter brunch. I've been here a couple of times before and I do like this place. A nice classy setting. The Easter brunch menu looked really good, but I felt that I had to get the ham. It was Easter after all. The ham was actually very good. It wasn't too fatty, as it sometimes can be. It also came with brussel sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. Everything tasted fantastic, the service was top notch, and all this while it was extremely busy. The place is a bit expensive. I like the Lex. The menu is upscale and priced to match; however, the value is there compared to other high end places. Well appointed, the bar area and comfortable dining room are supplemented by an upstairs room for parties and outdoor seating for temperate weather. My usual time to go is Sunday brunch. I really enjoy their assorted Sunday dishes, including fancy omelets and egg dishes along side the regular menu. I also appreciate a well-selected wine list by the glass, from modest to Super Tuscans. For dinner, I choose Lexington Square when I am eager for oysters (always a couple of varieties on the menu), and I am looking for a variety of options for entree for a group. I have organized a few party events (both upstairs and in the main room and patio) and they offer good value for a group. It is the nicest setting for a group event in town. The BBQ on the patio is in play from late spring through the fall and provides some variety, though Mt. Kisco finally has another BBQ option at Q's. All in all I look at the restaurant as a safe bet for a good meal in a comfortable setting. The service is good (and they manage to remember repeat visitors, even wine favorites), but low key. I never experienced a hard sell for specials or expensive items. When I try to stick to an Adkins diet, they have gone out of their way to be helpful, offering substitutions and checking ingredients in sauces. I find my way to the restaurant once or twice a month and I have friends come to visit who specify return visits in planning. read more

I ordered a side of mac and cheese with a garden salad for lunch...Hurmph....I've had better mac and cheese from a box, really. I doused mine with salt, pepper, and even some dressing from my salad to give it a little flavor. And no side salad on the menu, either. So this whirlwind of culinary mediocrity set me back a cool $16, plus the $6 for the local brew (which really wasn't to my taste either). The catered finger foods I've had for company parties have been pretty good, but c'mon, how hard is it to steam up a few packages of frozen Sui Mei or plate up a platter of crudite.
