We went there right after a big breakfast, so neither of us had the appetite to get more than one item to bring back to Seattle. But man, what a regret! My 咸水角 was so tasty!! It was slightly bigger than an egg, the skin texture was delicate and pleasantly chewy, and when you took the second bite, the savory minced pork filling came out. It reminded me of my Indonesian grandma and her zongzi, she also made minced pork filling like that. And even though this 咸水角 had been sitting in the fridge overnight and was carelessly reheated in the microwave by me, it still tasted so good. Now I wish I had bought ten of them. It's a bakery that has great varieties for a very reasonable price that are simply delicious. It's not fancy, but the price is half of the other bakeries and filled with goodies inside. Keep in mind this is a Chinese/Asian bakery so not a lot of super sweet or fruity item. But everything is pretty much great. The service is quick and friendly. There is a small a frame stand near the register that has the hot food or the day that is weird only in Chinese. BBQ Buns are AWESOME! Walk in and it's bakery style but there is restaurant seating. Bathroom is clean and accessible. They have hot drinks and a cooler with milks, teas, and sports drinks. I asked the woman at the counter to describe the items in the case and she was very helpful. I got the baked BBQ buns, a sesame roll, and a kind-of pig-in-blanket hotdog thing. Wow! She heated the buns for me in the microwave (20 seconds) but the others at display temperature. Everything was great. 5-stars. Finally was able to tried this bakery. There are four Asian bakeries within a 5 mile radius [Mei Sum Bakery, King's Bakery and Meianna Bakery]. Out of the four, I'd have to put this bakery in 3rd place. Price Range: Fairly reasonable and comparable to the other bakeries. Portion Size: The size of the pastries are standard size to all bakeries. The stuffing portion (i.e BBQ bun, custard bun, curry bun) was hardly any. I would say 95% is bread and 5% stuffing. I do have to say, their bread is delicious. It is soft, fluffy and has flavor compare to the other Asian bakeries. If the bakery adjusts the ratio portion, the pastries has high potential. Atmosphere: It is dark and not well light inside. Once you step inside, on the right is where the pastries are. On the left side are tables however are not usable as they're covered with flat boxes and other items. In the corner are slot machines, which is random for a bakery. I finally found a bakery that has bakers that can come close to making real Chinese buns. As one that has tasted many cocktail buns (what real Asians called them) from Richmond Canada to Hong Kong. They call them milk powder and coconut bun. (probably another change the name to make someone feel better) This cocktail bun comes very close to the real thing, add more fillings and I think we are there. The outside is like the hood and sketchy. The inside is run down and needs a remodel but the buns are good. If you're having a craving for HK bakery style this place comes close. read more

Called in for same day pick up for their famous Durian cake. It's pricey but this is our go to place for special birthday cakes. The pandan/durian combo is light and fluffy with chunky durian layers topped off with some fruits. It's best to chill this before serving. The cake was a hit and now they'll be getting more business. The pastries are also good here. Come in early while everything is hot and available. Another friend ordered the same cake request for a different birthday but had a so so experience. They did not include the durian layer but since it was a final sale and they couldn't make another one on time of when she needed it, they offered her in store credit for her next visit. That's good customer service. I hope that wouldn't happen to anyone else! Make sure you're clear on what your order and when to pick it up. Prepare for some stinky breathe! First off, I'm sad to see this bakery only has 3 stars because everything we tried here was perfect! My husband and I came to this bakery for moon cakes originally (not in season) but we left with awesome snacks nonetheless! We grabbed the Red Bean Bun, a Chicken Roll, and the decadent yet light Mousse Cake. First impression just by biting into that red Bean Bun was an immediate 'WOW' response. The bun is covered with a "cookie"-like sugary substance on top and inside is the perfect amount of sweet Red Bean Bun filling. It was so delightful as a sweet roll and just so satisfying. My husband's Chicken Roll was delicious as well, with perfect puff pastry enveloping tasty chicken(and vegetable?). I passed by this bakery for years and never stopped by. Finally I decided to pay a visit to see what it's about! When i first stepped into the shop, I wasn't sure if it's opened since the light was dimmed and We didn't get greeted. Soon the owner came and recommended a few items to try. Since I have been a loyal King's bakery customer. I can immediately tell the difference between these two: King's shop is bigger, brighter and more spacious; while Li Min has a bit more selection of buns and toasts. King's is more of Canton style; while Li Min is more Taiwanese style. My favorite items from the shop is flaky BBQ pastry and tarot toast. I like the buttery layers of the BBQ one and the fact I can slice my own toast. We also tried this egg cover bread. My boyfriend didn't like it, but I like the solid toast interior. Like some other reviewers I'm confused why the ratings are so low. I grew up in LA eating quite a lot of baos from Chinatown/San Gabriel/other heavily Asian populated areas and I'm always impressed by the quality of the buns and pastries here! This is my favorite Chinese bakery in the area and I actually like them over some well-respected bakeries in LA. On top of that, the prices so good for the quality and quantity compared to what others charge. Our favorites are pineapple bun, cha siu bao (bbq pork. Their baked and steamed versions are both good), custard pineapple bun, hot dog bun (some have scallions), the egg tarts are *very* good, and the flaky cha siu and curry pastries are amazing too! We also will get man tou (steamed buns) and freeze it and eat with either butter or condensed milk. One time my sister and I went on a bao shopping spree and loaded up 3-4 boxes for a family gathering. The total came out to just $60 for dozens of pastries and she thought there was some huge miscalculation, but it's actually just a great value! So of course for the money we save we always make sure to leave good tip for the hardworking staff there :) and we don't go to a Chinese restaurant or bakery for the customer service, but they are nice here! I used to make biweekly trips and would always leave with at least one box of yumminess. Whatever I don't eat that day, I will either place in a sealed container for the next day or freeze the rest. If I want one for breakfast, I'll either heat from frozen, or defrost it overnight in the fridge and the next morning I will heat it in the microwave using the defrost setting (to prevent the rubbery microwaved bread issue) and out comes the microwave a fresh and fluffy bao! For the flaky pastries, heat them up in an air fryer! I'm looking foreword to ordering one of their cakes for a special occasion since they look so good and you know Asian bakery cakes are never too sweet! read more

The owners are from China. It's a legit Cantonese bakery. Complete with serve yourself trays for breads. They are famous for their air compressor form moon cakes. They are always busy when they first open in the morning for breads and coffee. Their Mocha's are very good, and best price in area. Breads are very good - their milk-bread base formula for their breads is the best. I prefer the coconut cream bun, sweet cream cheese bun, baked BBQ pork bun, and plain pineapple bun. A lot of people like the dried pork bun for breakfast. My only complaint is; They have a hot food window with noodles, rice, egg dishes, etc., but no menu that I could find. Only those in the know can order from it apparently - but it looks good. They have a video poker room that is always busy as well. Its not my thing, but it is popular. It is the only shop like this in Oregon. Next closest is in Seattle or San Fransisco.
