They had multiple parts of the duck - including gizzards, liver, blood, and actual meat. They also add in some bok choy, cilantro, and tofu, adding some lightness and texture to the soup. All parts of the duck were delicious - I personally don't enjoy the other parts of the duck as much, but could tell that this noodle soup was well made. The only complaint I have is that the noodles were a bit undercooked - they were too chewy and it was hard for me to eat. The other parts of the soup were amazing though. When we were ready, we grabbed a large mixing bowl and the server hit a hidden switch that raised the thermal curtain to all the food choices. It's like being in a candy store and you had free rein. You make your own choices and pick from the bins in the refrigerated case with the provided tongs. We decided to have a single bowl and made it a family meal for 3. Once you make your selections from all the different fish balls, seafood, multi-variations of tofu, mushrooms, vegetables & noodles, hand the bowl to the server to be weighed ($ per pound) and let them know how you would like it to be cooked. You have a choice of noodle soup, fried or dry pot. We elected dry pot, which is basically wok stir fried. You can also add beef or lamb for $3 per serving and we asked for double beef. They also serve BBQ skewers of beef, lamb & chicken, so we tried 2 lamb sticks. Be careful when you order the spice level because it can be misleading. White is totally no spice, while Mild is 2 pepper signs, Medium is 3 peppers and Spicy is 4. We went with mild and it was plenty spicy for me because I fished out 6 pieces of dried red chili peppers from our pot. I don't even want to be in the same room with Level 4 for fear of it scorching my tongue. The dish was topped with some sesame sauce and fresh cucumber. Overall, it was pretty good, although I was expecting more of a sauce of tomatoes and egg poured over the noodles. Instead, it was just tomatoes and egg sauteed with noodles, with the only liquid being what came out of the tomatoes during cooking. I guess that's why they add on the sesame sauce. The noodles were really well-made. They were nicely al dente and pretty uniform in size even though they're pulled by hand. The tomato flavor wasn't strong enough, but the acidity of the tomato was there and was nicely balanced by the nutty taste of the sesame sauce. The cucumbers provided a refreshing crunch. The dish was missing a bit of spice. I also got a side of chili oil sliced pig ears. They normally sell a dish for $7, but I didn't want a full side of it and asked if they could just give me a smaller portion for cheaper. So the guy at the register asked for $3 and gave me a really generous portion of pig ears. I wasn't expecting it to be a chili oil made with Sichuan peppercorns, but it was and I loved the tingly spiciness it gave the dish. I actually spooned a little bit of the hot chili oil into the noodles to give them a bit more flavor. And since the noodles had no meat in them, I added a slice of pig ear every few bites. One red flag was that there was no disclaimers that the claypot rice would take at least 15 mins or so to make as that's what I would expect for an authentic made to order claypot rice. We ordered the Grilled Eel and Home-Style Braised Pork Casserole, which both came out in under 10 minutes. The pork was definitely plentiful and seasoned well but it was definitely premade and just plated in the claypot. The eel claypot rice did not have the crispy rice in the bottom of the claypot and definitely seemed like it was precooked rice that was thrown into the claypot for presentation. The food was not terrible but it definitely disappointing and not authentic. The milk custard was not my favorite as it tasted like stinky milk. Overall, I would not recommend Mr BoBo and hope they step up their game soon.
