The noodle soup hit exactly right, rich broth, freshly made noodles, and I lucked out with a soft-boiled egg that had a double yolk. Felt like a small win on a gray day. However, it was freezing cold out after a snowstorm in NY, so I stopped by to dine alone and ordered the chicken dumpling noodle soup, to find that fried dumplings were thrown in a bowl of bland milky broth with noodles. If you need to use your credit card you should let them know before you place your order. They take credit cards as well as Zelle. They prefer cash. The soup dumplings were a surprise. It's not bad. My husband hasn't been feeling well the past couple of weeks, and he had a strong craving for something warm and comforting. Specifically ramen or beef noodle soup. We decided to try Song Dumpling for the first time, and it did not disappoint. I can't say enough good things. The beef noodle soup was absolutely delicious. Rich, flavorful broth, tender beef, perfectly cooked noodles. It was exactly the kind of soul warming dish he needed. Every bite felt like it was made with care. We also got the curry dumplings, and they were spot on. Crisp on the outside, flavorful and aromatic on the inside. The kind of dish that makes you stop and go, Mmm, yes. It was comfort food elevated, and every detail felt thoughtfully prepared. Delivery was quick, everything arrived hot, and the portions were generous. We shared everything and it was filling for us. When we entered the restaurant, our hunger level was--on a scale of 1-10-at a 6. The dumplings were great; we got veggie pan seared dumplings and pork and shrimp pan seared dumplings. The soups were mediocre and I don't recommend them. Now Song's doesn't exactly have an extensive menu, but what they do, they do well. They offer different types of dumplings, buns, and shumai, as well as scallion pancakes. Everything was delicious! We ordered a dozen pan-fried dumplings split between Pork and Shrimp; and Japanese Chicken. The former was OK, but the texture of the meat in the latter could have passed for fish. The dumplings were on the small side. We also ordered some steamed roast pork buns (three for $4.99), which were greasy and used a mince with bits, instead of chunks, of meat. Came on a Friday night around 8 because a coworker wanted some dumplings. I live close by and have been meaning to try this place so I decided to order some soup dumplings and shumai as a snack. For $8 the soup dumplings were decent - there was a little bit of soup inside but a good amount of meat, the skin was a bit thick. Couldn't tell if they were homemade or store bought. The shumai were not the shumai you get at dimsum. For $11 these were just steamed wontons that lacked flavor - pretty disappointing. I also got a honey citron tea ($4) but it was also nothing special. So far not the best first experience as Memories of Shanghai offers better dimsum-esq dishes. I will be back to try their actual dumplings and noodles that people rave about. read more
