I had the fried chicken biscuit with tater tots. The fried chicken biscuit was pretty good but the lack of any variety aside from the chicken and biscuit made it a little tiring towards the end, but it was still good. I have to say though that the tater tots were so good! Perfect crunch and flavor made it a joy to continually eat. I like that they have an abundance of tots! Let me make this clear, I love vegetables but "I Am NOT VEGETARIAN or VEGAN". I do have friends that are, so when I notice vegetarian/vegan items I let them know. And now I'm here to let you know vegetarian and meat eaters alike will love this place. Let's get to the "meat" of the subject (lol). My breakfast had great flavor and I didn't miss a breakfast meat AT ALL! I had the mushroom toast. Anything to do with sourdough is an eye catcher for me. The mushrooms in the gravy had a wonderful taste and satisfied my craving for something different. The eggs were cooked just as I like them with the white completely cooked and the egg yoke runny and the toast was cooked to a toasty brown. I didn't even know what I wanted when it first woke up but somehow I managed to pick a place that satisfied my every taste buds need without even looking at the menu before I went. I will say the music was a lil loud and might be a little tuff if i bring my parents but if it keeps the kitchen happy, I say leave things as is. I heard this place has been open for years and I JUST discovered it, what a hidden gem. Parking was a little tricky, but once that was situated we got seated right away. We went around "Brunch" Time, and the inside was so cute! It was small and quaint with such eclectic decor and local art work. I loved it. I got the eggs benedict and shared some loaded tots with a friend and everything was delicious. Nothing was overcooked, the sauces used were soo yummy and the portion sizes were great. WHY I WENT My wife is a vegetarian and I'm not. We're always on the look out for restaurants that don't feel like a compromise. We drove through Fresno on our way to Sacramento to visit family, and needed a place to grab dinner. Libelula has a solid rating, plenty of vegan/vegetarian options, and really good looking food. WHAT I GOT - 5 stars SIRACHA MAPLE FRIED CHICKEN W/ TOTS. I'm not a big chicken sandwich person, I think burgers are far superior both in taste and preparations. But this chicken sandwich could convert even the most devout burger lover. It's juicy, crunchy, sweet and leaves you full. The tots are also amazing. I prefer fries to tots, but these were the perfect bites of warm, salty and crunchy. My wife and I liked our food so much, we chose to drive through Fresno again just to eat there one more time. You read that right; we CHOSE to return to Fresno just to dine at this establishment. CURRIED FRIED CHICKEN TACO TRIO - Somehow they took a dish that was Mexican, Black and Indian, and made it work. This dish is literally the American Dream of diversity and inclusion personified. The chicken - juicy; The curry - thick, rich and savory; The taco - perfectly proportioned with well balanced flavors and surprisingly filling. CAULIFLOWER WELLINGTON - My wife was blown away by this dish. I don't see her smile often during meals, because most vegetarian/vegan dishes at non-vegetarian/vegan places are bland and limited. Not so at Libelula! First of all, the sheer creativity and presentation of this dish (it was beautifully plated) was impressive. I only had a bite, and the cauliflower was full of flavor with a tasty, substantial but light, breading. I like cauliflower but I feel like a lot of chefs lack creativity when preparing it. If you're vegan or vegetarian with a discerning palate and appreciation for presentation, I strongly recommend you try this dish - It may delight you. HOW I WAS TREATED - 5 stars Customer Service was top notch. The chef brought out our food and we talked about Fresno. I still can't believe this place is in Fresno, Ca! Service doesn't move super fast, but the slow pace feels comfortable like family. Our waters remained filled and the staff was super friendly. I was the only black person there (both times), but I felt very comfortable and was happy with how my wife and I were treated. IMHO - I give this place 5 stars because the food and service were on point, and the vegan/vegetarian options would tempt even the biggest meat-eater. The ONLY thing I would caution is to use the bathroom elsewhere or go before you go. The bathroom is located outside, and was in pretty rough shape. Do yourself a favor, and don't go in there. We had brunch here downtown on Saturday morning. To start we ordered the avocado toast and split it right down the center, it was delicious topped with greens and corn. I ordered the Fresno State street corn salad with a poached egg on the side. It was so HOT but very delicious! Only because it was so hot I would not order it again, my mistake. My husband ordered the Veggie eggs benedict and by the waitress' recommendation added the pork belly. He found it very delicious too. I was very pleased with service and the laid back local atomospher. There was so much on the menu we definitely will be back. Super cool spot with a creative menu right in the heart of downtown Fresno! I've been meaning to try Libelula and finally got the chance to do so this past weekend. I love the funky ambiance and the unique menu. I don't believe they take reservations, but it was a cold/rainy day on the weekend and we were able to be seated. The servers were super friendly and gave us some stellar recommendations, including the forbidden rice breakfast bowl + adding pork belly, which we took her up on! I also ordered the saucy tots which were delicious as well, but the forbidden rice bowl was truly next level, super tasty but also very creative! By the time we arrived, they were out of their cinnamon rolls/aguas frescas, but I know we'll be back, especially after a shift at the free clinic at the Department of Health down the street. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a very long time. Today was the day since my fiancé and I were downtown we decided to give it a try. Went this morning for brunch. Outdoor sitting was available. We went in the building to check in. Luckily, there wasn't any other parties waiting. When she finished she came in the and greeted us and told us to sit anywhere but the center table. She gave us the menu and we helped ourselves. We sat down and looked over the menu (vegetarian options available) and waited a little over 5 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. The same lady came back and asked if someone to our order we said no. We were kind of upset that it was kind of obvious that no one had helped us and our menus are still in front of us as we looked around to see if anyone would help. And she was the only one who seems to be working the front because we saw no one else. But she apologized and took our orders. We ordered the spicy veggie yakisoba and the Big A$$ breakfast burrito. Thankfully the wait for our order wasn't so long. But we were a bit disappointed with the food. The spicy veggie yakisoba wasn't even spicy at all and it was very salty. My fiancé mentioned how it tasted like the costco brand with bunch of veggies added to it. The Big A$$ breakfast burrito is not your ordinary "breakfast burrito" they added ingredient's such as cauliflower and soyrizo eggs. The taste was different it wasn't terrible nor was it the best thing I've ever tasted. With each bite my palate was getting confused with the different ingredients and flavors might have to give it another try. Overall, the customer service was just okay. We felt that we weren't given the same attention the other diners did. We were also disappointed with the food with the amount we paid we felt it just wasn't worth it especially with this place being so highly rated, sadly we just didn't agree. read more

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to trying this place. Was seated, asked to use the restroom but was told it was being "cleaned" by someone from the kitchen. No problem, waited. Finally went to use the bathroom and it smelled worse than a urinal. Mold and bio waste on the floor and walls. Wish I would've had my phone with me for photos. There was a small glass hole behind the toilet - wonder if someone is looking through the other side. Toilet itself was incredibly filthy and the smell alone gave me a headache and instant nausea. Completely lost my appetite. Bathroom is locked so they can't blame it on anyone else, utter laziness. I can't imagine the kitchen hygiene. Had to walk out, which was fine since they didn't even serve us drinks while we waited. Would not recommend - go to a cleaner establishment. read more

Loved the location, you're right in front the of the Crest Theater which brought back so many memories! Everything we ordered was beyond delicious, bursting with flavor, and most importantly - fresh ingredients. The stars of this show however are the forbidden breakfast rice and the stone fruit biscuit. A beautiful biscuit must have three key traits, flaky, crispy edges, and doesn't suck the moisture from your mouth. This biscuit hit all three. The breakfast rice was something unlike I've had before for breakfast, the type of rice they use makes for a perfect bite and texture along with the powerful flavors of the sauce. Loved Libelula! My husband and I have been wanting to go for a long time and finally made time to go. I had the Thai Mac 'n Cheese. It was delicious and flavorful. The Thai flavors really come through nicely and the kimchi on top give it a real kick. My husband got the Bone marrow Stroganoff that was the special for this week and he loved it. We also got the agua fresca of Raspberry, Strawberry and something else that I forgot, it was super yummy and refreshing.
