I ate at this amazing Mexican spot last night--owned by a family from Zacatecas--and wow, the food was next-level. No heavy sauces, no melted cheese--just super fresh, simple ingredients that packed incredible flavor. Everything tasted homemade, like someone's abuela was back there cooking. You can tell they really care about honoring traditional recipes. The food was so good, it didn't need anything extra. The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall, so it's easy to miss--but trust me, it's a must-stop. The space is simple but very clean, and the menu reflects that same simplicity. One great perk: they serve breakfast all day, which I know will appeal to a lot of people. They also have themed specials like Margarita Mondays and Taco Tuesdays, as well as seasonal items. Service is very friendly, and it's a casual sit-down restaurant. You order at the counter, grab your drink, then take a seat. They'll bring chips and salsa to your table--mild, medium, and spicy options--and they also bring out your food and any alcoholic drinks you order. It's also a perfect spot for solo diners. I'd definitely feel comfortable coming back alone to enjoy a meal here. My favorite dish is the shrimp ceviche--it's absolutely top-notch: fresh, bright, and full of flavor. This isn't fast food, but the wait time is short--just 5 to 7 minutes--and totally worth it. Parking Tip: There's free parking in the lot, but it's shared with In-N-Out and Big 5, so it can get a little busy. Despite the posted signs warning against In-N-Out parking, people still park there for both places. You might have better luck finding street parking, which is usually available and totally fine.

If you are craving Mexican Food and don't have the time to drive to Mexico, come here. True family operation serving up home cooked Mexican Food. The woman who took our order and delivered the food to the table was very friendly and helpful. Check in on YELP and get a free lemon drink from their fountain--delicious! Free and easy parking in their shared lot in front. I got the Chicken Burrito ($13.00) and my friend Carne Asada ($20.00). I tried the Carne and both dishes were very good. The Carne was nicely seasoned and easy to chew. My Chicken Burrito had high salt content though--so if you get the Chicken Burrito--must like salt. The homemade salsas--all 3 were excellent and I dowsed my Burrito in the most spicy one. Place is clean and they have a separate men's and woman's restroom--men's was fine and I liked their urinal that prevents splashback. During your meal they play LOUD Mexican party music in the dining room--really gives the place a fun atmosphere. So like I said--if you were thinking of driving down to Tijuana or Ensenada--just come here--save the fuel expense.

Awesome women owned business with fresh good Mexican food. Great friendly service and yum Birria tacos with the consommé to dip them in. A local favorite spot. Support women owned businesses! Super clean and causal dining area. Churros too!

My husband and I were driving past In N Out and the line was LONG (as usual) so we ended up Lichis next door! The restaurant is actually quite cute inside! It is very clean and I loved the deco. The menu is minimal, but I actually prefer that since I'm not a fan of large menus. I got the bowl with carne asada. I thought for $14, the portion was great. The green sauce that came with it tasted very fresh. I'd get this again! My husband got the nachos, which were just okay. It felt a little lack luster especially since that's what he ordered for dinner. We will probably come back to try other things but skip the nachos. The staff were really friendly and kind! There is plenty of free parking.

This is my second review for this place because I wanted to highlight their happy hour options. I went yesterday for some tacos and was so pleased (not a surprise!) with both of these: birria and pastor tacos. They were both meaty, not greasy at all and with great flavor. I love their birria plate here also. I will definitely keep coming back to try more things. The cashier was very friendly and kind. The place is cute, super clean and offers free water and chips with your order. Oh, and I love their salsa verde.

Wow! The food here is delicious and generous. They have a lovely selection to choose from. Everything is made fresh to order. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance is super charming.. The deco is simple.. They have some beautiful plants that I wanted... let me tell you... EVERYTHING is super clean... I'll be back for sure!

My family and I loved our breakfast at Lichis Mex! The whole time we were devouring our meal, I kept thinking that Guy Fieri would absolutely lose his shit over this place and I mean that in the best was possible. It's neighborhood friendly, family recipes from Zacatecas and everything is amazingly delicious. Lichi's Mex should be featured on "Triple D"! We got the Chorizo Hash and the Chilaquiles w/ a side of guacamole, salsa and chips. The meal had a very high "wow" factor to it and the Horchata was a 10/10. We can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! Thank you Lichis Mex!

I had such a great dining experience last night! We often order take out from here, but I decided to dine in by myself last night. I wish I remembered her name, but the cashier was absolutely lovely and so kind. It makes such a huge difference when staff are kind and friendly, it made me feel happy to be there. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and a side of chips and salsa. Amazing, as always, and my go-to order! I love it here.

Have already been numerous times! Absolutely delicious tacos, love all the salsas. Their flan is one of the best I've had, perfectly soft and firm, not too sweet. Every lady I've interacted with has been friendly and sweet. We have got the breakfast tacos a few times...absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back. My only complaint is they don't open till 9am

AHHHH I LOVE LICHIS SO MUCH!!!! So fresh and delicious and consistently amazing. I order delivery from them... uh... a lot hahaha and now that we are displaced from our home in Altadena, I still drive to go pick it up or eat there! The ladies that work there are so sweet and nice and it's always clean and bright inside. Slightly more of a pick up spot but honestly love eating in too when I can. Go to favs are the quesitaco (aka birria with cheese) and the consommé, cheese enchiladas verde, chips and guacamole, literally all the salsa (so fresh!!!) and omg the HORCHATA is the best I've ever had. Support this local spot, such a hidden little gem!

Lichis Mex boasts the best fish and shrimp tacos in town, superstar service, and a clean and thoughtfully decorated interior. It surprises me that they don't have more business, but if you were looking for one: here's your *sign* to give this restaurant a shot. I haven't tried a menu item I didn't like! Oh, and make sure to order your taco "Lichis" style for some extra flavor!

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

I came here for dinner on a week night and my experience here was pretty good. I had the asada and al pastor tacos with all the toppings and they were both so good and full of meat and heat. The toppings can be spicy for some, so be warned. My favorite of the two was the all pastor which was flavorful and I did like the thinly shaved meat. It was not dry at all and was fresh. I also tried the mulita with al pastor meat and that was also soso good. Cheesy, meaty, and indulgent. The additional topping section had good variety with pickled onions, cucumbers, etc. and everything seemed pretty fresh. Unfortunately, they were pretty much out of the roasted pepper and grilled onions at the time I went. To drink, I had the horchata and that was also very delicious. It was huge, sweet, and creamy. Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

We found easy street parking in the neighborhood on 41st Street, and waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. We ordered the asada tacos. They pre-sauce your tacos, which was fine by me, but my boyfriend who can't handle as much spice would've preferred it on the side (so warning for anyone similar! they do put a little habanero on them, so just ask them for salsa on the side). I think I ran into a problem of reading too many raving reviews -- these tacos were good but I was expecting them to be mind blowing, so I was a little disappointed. I tasted the charcoal char, but kind of wished the taste was more pronounced, or at least the meat more seasoned. The hand made tortillas were definitely the coolest part, but I thought they were a little dry too. The ladies whipping those out are artists though. Actually, all the workers here have the assembly line down to the tea, and they definitely add a little flare for a show. I particularly liked how they had a lot of seating at this location, instead of just a couple stools lying around like most taco trucks. It felt more like outdoor patio seating than a normal taco stand. They could probably take more time to wipe down tables more often though. Overall would visit again if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way for the tacos here.

I was looking for a taco spot with good reviews in the area and stumbled upon this gem of a taco…read morestand in the side of the road. These were truly the epitome of street tacos and absolutely nothing about the vibe, the service, and the FOOD, disappointed. Immediately upon arrival, I noticed the long line of people and said to myself, either this place is really good or really slow. It took me longer to decide what I wanted to try than what it took for the line to move and for it to be my turn to order. So yea, these folks are FAST and very courteous as well. They have real Al Pastor on the trompo (the spit) so of course I ordered pastor tacos and a pastor mulita. I also ordered a few SUADERO tacos which you don't find just anywhere. I am still raving about the amount of meat and flavor of the food here, it's insanely delicious. Once you get your food you make your way down to the end of the taco stand where you are met with an amazing array of fresh taco fixings and salsas. The pink creamy-habanero was the best and the green/red salsas followed right behind. I can't wait to go back to this place. It's mind blowing how a stand on the side of the road puts out better quality food than a brick/mortar taco shop..but these guys know exactly what they are doing and it was a pleasure to try their food. 20 out of 10 for this place.

I do like how they grill their meat though and they use the tortillas to scoop up the meat on the grill. Thought the al pastor was a bit salty and the cheese did not add much flavor to it, but that's probably a good thing considering the saltiness of the meat. Also, make sure you ask them for pineapples since they did not include it until we asked. They do have them sliced up in a container by the meats. Ambience is very casual and it's a stand while eating type of situation. Service was quick.

Everything came out to about $26 which is super reasonable! Service on a later end of the night was great! Super friendly and quick service. No indoor dining was available since they were closing in 15 mins. Food was ready in less than 10 mins. Salsa is free which both were delicious and had great flavor. Overall the food was delicious! It hit the spot. Filled with meat and the tortillas were a hit on their own. I would definitely go back again and try the other items that they had to offer.

Driving by I always see a line and read an article recently that Sonoratown is officially…read morerecognized in the California Michelin Guide - makes sense! I like that they were open late to satisfy a late night taco craving. Even though there is typically a line they are quite efficient with orders and even have a parking lot/outdoor dining space in addition to their indoor space so it doesn't feel cramped. It was my first visit so I had to get a mix of their tacos and burritos with the various meats they serve. It was a nice fact to know their tortillas have some lard also so it adds a nice flavor as well. + Burrito 2.0 (asada) + Chivichanga (chicken and beef) + Tacos (chorizo, tripe, cabeza, asada) I enjoyed the burrito with asada and thought it was good portion size for the cost. The guac, cheese, and beans pair well with the meat and has a nice grill on the tortilla. The tacos were a solid size as well but I was surprised to find the tripe as my favorite because they fry it and it adds a nice crunch/texture change. The cabeza was a close second with the stewed flavors. The chivichangas were also tasty but not the traditional chimichanga I was anticipating. It's definitely on the softer side as everything mixes together and there's not much of a texture change. Worth trying if you are curious though. I ordered to go so I didn't see if they have a salsa bar but I did have to pay $.10 per to go container which would be nice if they were free. However, I liked mixing their red and green salsa with each bite. I am curious to try their avocado salsa next time. Overall, I thought the portion sizes were good for the prices and I felt full afterwards.
