From the outside it doesn't give its full potential but the food. They food is worth the location. Inside is small and casual. It's a great pregame dinner and hang out spot. The bartender and owner were there and were amazing!! I got the shrimp basket but everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. For an appetizer we ordered the Queenz Platter that consisted of 2 Kirkwood Steak Rolls, 2 Soul Rolls and 2 Seafood Rolls served with sweet chili, hot honey and spicy mayo for dipping sauce. 10/10 !!! Everything was SO fresh and packed with flavor. The soul rolls had Mac n cheese, greens, pulled chicken, and white rice inside. The seafood rolls had shrimp, crab, lobster and fried cabbage. My experience lacked luster. I would like to think of myself as a vibe. It doesn't matter if I go by myself or others. All the other raving reviews made me put this spot high on my radar. I thought vibe would match vibe. Instead I received below par service, over priced food. Even though I thought the rolls were creative. The lamb was small and salty for $45 not worth it. I ended up spending $83 dollars. Oh and they charge for the glaze on the lamb chops, and extra for sides. After around 5 minutes I asked for water. Even though I ordered a frozen mimosa. Got my water in a travel cup. 10-15 minutes later I get my food. The bartender passes me my food. I said can I have my drink now? Worse, the cup wasn't filled. And the bottom was filled with fruit syrup. So the taste profile wasn't the same from start to finish. He totally forgot. It happens. However because I wasnt treated like a customer, or made to feel like returning. It's not ok. Food. Ordered the lamb chops, side of Mac and cheese, and broccoli. When I got home, the chops were tiny. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally ventured out today. They are close to 20 off the Maynard Terrace exit. When you pull into the lot a valet attendant asks if you are there for the restaurant. It is $10 cash to valet and $11 if you pay with a card. The restaurant is not big, but they have tables and a bar area. The wall decor is very pretty and has clean lines. It looked like a chic living room out of a magazine. The seats were velvety and comfy and the colors were warm. We sat at the bar because a table would be a 10 minute wait. It wasn't busy, but the tables were full. Our server was the one who greeted us when we walked in. Her name was Kari. She came to the bar and introduced herself and gave us the QR code for the menu. We decided to order the Queen's appetizer (not sure of the name) it had three different egg rolls, 2 of each, and was only $25. We decided against the hunch punch. The pouch was a turn off for me. I'm not a fan of adult capri-suns. Our food was spectacular. Our server was amazing. We were in and out in under an hour and still had time to go do some shopping. The only thing I did not like about this restaurant was the loud trap music. It was super loud. I couldn't hear the server talk when she addressed us at the door, then it was filled with profanity. No beeps, just cuss words. I didn't ask for the music to be turned down or off because the staff were enjoying it and that seemed to be the vibe of the restaurant. Had the best brunch experience at Southern Queenz this Sunday! I ordered the shrimp develes eggs and catfish / shrimp basket. Everything was 100/10! My friends ordered a few other plates and every single thing was cooked to order and was made to perfection! Our server Aaliyah was super sweet and attentive. There was no wait when I went. The salmon was pretty bland and the pasta was dry and tasted lemony. They could've added more sauce to the pasta. The bread that came with it was good and overall it was a good serving size. I got the soul food egg rolls to try. It was an interesting combo. There was a lot of Mac and cheese and not much of anything else. The lemon pound cake was decent. I can't say it's the best I've had for it to be homemade. I wanted to go inside another time to try some other items on the menu but I doubt I'll do that. They do have seating at the bar however it's not huge on the inside so I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you were going to go during peak hours. The restaurant called when our table was ready and were even waiting in the car at a spot in front of the restaurant. The vibes are intimate and fun inside. There is limited seating, which resulted in us sitting at the end of the bar, almost behind the counter. The lamb chops were very delicious with the teriyaki glaze and I love how it came with two sides. The Mac and yams both had good flavors for traditional southern dishes. They take reservations but it has to be at least a party of 5 and there are no reservations on Sunday only walk in. Parking is $10 to park on the weekends. I guess I came on the wrong day at the wrong time. I came here with family on a Sunday afternoon. Long story short, I wish the food had more flavor. I wish the parking was better and they didn't up charge for the smallest things. First on my list is service. Our server didn't create a lasting impression. But I don't necessarily blame her for some of the problems we had as a whole. We needed small plates for the appetizers and had to wait until they washed clean ones. The ambiance was cool. Music was cool. Took forever for our server to grab the check. I'm used to the owners of restaurants walking around and checking on their guests to make sure everything is ok. She stayed at the podium and could've cared less if everyone was ok. My table ordered a few appetizers (Seafood rolls,Ghetto Nachos, and fried cauliflower). The seafood rolls were pretty good but not worth the price. The ghetto nachos weren't special in any way and honestly pretty standard to me. The fried cauliflower was lightly fried and had excess cauliflower juice at the bottom of the plate. The siracha aioli sauce was unnecessary as a topping. As far as the main dishes, I ordered the Southern Crown dinner. The fried chicken tasted like they only seasoned the flour and not the chicken. The greens were undercooked and not even the hot sauce could save them. The yams weren't as sweet as I thought they were going to be. And the Mac and cheese didn't meet my expectations at all. I could taste the velveeta but not the actual seasonings. I appreciate them trying to make the plate look presentable by adding the salad at the bottom but most of the garnish on the plates weren't needed. read more
